  1. JR wasn't crying over domestic violence because people hurt his sensitivities about blowing money on Hardy, he was whining because people hurt his feelings over questioning his ethics---his sense of morality. Like I said in another thread, this sense that we can't gamble on DGB in the first because it's going to mortally hurt the franchise is just overblown in this world of the present CBA. Between the fact that we can in fact rebound fairly quickly from the worst case scenario, as well as have a GM who is a pretty damned good evaluator mitigates any long term malaise from missing on a pick---even a first round pick. Lastly, in light of the above, if your primary reason for passing up DGB is morally based, or based on some trumped up bullshit that he is not worth the gamble in the first, but that he is worth the gamble in the second, then you would be foolish to pass on him In the first, because historically there isn't that much difference between the first and the second from a value-production standpoint (look it up if you don't believe me).
  2. If I were the GM, my FA CB target this year would be Buster Skrine. He is a good corner who appears to still have untapped upside, and he shouldn't break the bank.
  3. Been there-done that with Ginn. Give me Moore all day long!
  4. Shorts' injury history reads like a grocery list. Nicks has had his injury issues as well. Smith hasn't shown the athleticism or versatility that Moore has, and if those guys have shown flashes of being a WR1, then Moore has as well. I consider all of them WR2s with a certain degree of WR1 upside depending on the circumstances,
  5. He will be an unrestricted free agent. No hassles.
  6. I have been singing this tune for the last couple of seasons.
  7. No. Not those who deal in reality. Cam wants a long term deal that will probably amount to somewhere with at least 5 and 70. And even that may be a pipe dream.
  8. And that's what I really yearn to hear about, but it may be still too early in the process.
  9. Point taken. But, it depends on the sources and the situation. Sometimes patience is the better part of discretion.
  10. I agree. The thing is that it still doesn't really invalidate that there is some rationale for believing that there is a chance that Hardy's services will be retained (however small it is), and that the reasons behind that rationale is newsworthy, and that some within the media should not have jumped the gun, reporting things as a surety, when all was not said and done yet. Edit: Don't know why I the apostrophe was after "reason". I am my own grammar hammer.
  11. I agree to a point, and I have said the exact same thing, but there is a line where the same old arguments---the same back and forth---is pretty useless. There is a point where it's no longer fun or entertaining, and becomes more of a lesson in futility and exasperation, unless you just like arguing for the sake of arguing, or maybe just enjoy trolling. At this point, all we can do is wait and see what happens with Hardy. At this point it would be more interesting to me to hear arguments as to why Hardy should or should not be here, or what effect his presence would have on the franchise if he was retained, or whether or not he will even be picked up by any team, much less the Panthers. But...whatever floats your boat.
  12. My thing is, why even argue about it. At this point is just kind of comical that you still have people claiming anything with any surety. It's not really breaking news that Hardy is more than likely gone, and to be honest it never was. The more newsworthy story is that there is still a chance----pipe dream or not. All of this bumping of chests and claiming that Hardy is not going to be here really doesn't mean a thing. And, it's going to mean even less when Hardy is released, and even less if Hardy is retained.
  13. Which is what I have been saying basically all along. I started to believe the hype a little after Igo reported it here, but after Jason Cole reported that it wasn't so sure as others in the Charlotte area would have us believe, I won't be fooled again. Nobody knows poo about Hardy's final status as a Panther this offseason until it's reported by Hardy, his agent and/or the Panthers.
  14. He didn't say "suspend", he said "oversteps". For example: Goodell and the NFL could demand to see private and privileged information, while effectively suggesting that they will suspend Hardy if he doesn't reveal it (even though said information could be legally defined as the lawyer's work product". Or, they could even demand the specifics of the supposed civil settlement which is confidential to all parties involved.
  15. So I guess that maturity, growth and grace mean nothing to you, huh? All of the things that Cam is trying to do out in the community today, and you're zeroing in on some past transgressions of an immature teenager. It's difficult for me to feel sorry for recruiters, colleges, boosters, and the NCAA who systematically exploit these kids all the time. I also don't feel sorry for the fans who cry "bloody murder" and "oh my gosh" when a kid is suspected of pushing back, because they turn a blind eye to these issues when it comes to their own teams---issues that are just a microcosm of other larger systems that facilitate authoritarian exploitation of the less powerful or disadvantaged.
  16. Come on, man. You did pretty well with the boxing thing, now you're beginning to make me wonder. A boxer and mma with size 6 feet and ruby red toenails belies a credibility problem...
  17. Rage posting doesn't necessarily serve a purpose, but personally I think that sometimes you have to get into it with other posters when they get stupid. Though I expect the new mod to display a certain amount of patience, I would hope that they would lower the boom on resident trolls a little more aggressively than has been displayed in the past.
  18. GGG! You got it. The Kazakh, Mexican hero. I work at night right now, so it's really not a luxury for me either.
  19. I changed it up a little bit. Do you still think it's Klitchko? Think of all the divisions.
