Yeah, it would probably not end up so well if Gettleman had a knee-jerk chain reaction to a situation in which he is at least---or at most, depending upon perspective---partly responsible.

Whenever I look at some of his vids, I just don't see a back taking forever to hit the whole, I see a back who hits the hole with authority when it's called for, but also has the patience and vision enough to let the line do its job. Sure he runs upright, but some of the better backs in NFL history ran upright. Moreover, this notion of Bama backs being used up is just the height of lazy analysis in my opinion.

I think that you may be overlooking Josh's football IQ a bit. He is an athlete to be sure, but is he really among the elite athletic corners? With speed for example, he isn't the fastest or the quickest guy, and when he first came into the league you could see it (especially with some bad angles and overpursuit). It is his film study and willingness to invest in technique that has made him one of the league's top corners today.

Josh Norman didn't bet on himself just to capitulate in the end. I hope that they can come to an agreement.

Enjoyable read. I don't know about the John Fox comment however. I think that his tenure, especially the latter part, was unduly affected negatively by the business side of football, leaving him with mere facades of complete teams.

I always say that we won't know what to expect until the soonest after September. I guess that now that the Gettleman and Rivera era has set in---after a franchise historical roller coaster, and the transition from Hurney's era largely over---I guess that I will jump out of the shell of guarded optimism to expecting excellence every single year henceforward. How nice it is to be a Panthers fan! Super Bowls are in our future.

Propagandamachine threads require an acquired taste. I don't think IQs necessarily have to take a hit from reading them, but that they must be looked at like cards in a Rorshach test. In that sense, some of them are quite fascinating and perhaps can teach you a little about him, yourself, and other Huddlers.

One of our strengths (except in a monsoon, LOL) is controlling time of possession by slowing the game down with methodical, workman-like drives. If we can keep (what should be) a motivated Rodgers off the field 60 percent of the time, then I believe our chances of victory are more than good.

As much as it pains me to say it, Smith is a natural Raven, and that fan base rightfully appreciates and loves 89. It is a shame that it ended like it did here. Dave Gettleman and many here basically said that Smitty had outlived his usefulness on the gridiron. Well, that was wrong. After all the spilled blood and guts in reference to his departure, I just don't see a return happening. His legend has grown though---through it all---and I fully expect to see his bust in Canton one day.

To be honest, I would rather all parties involved be more concerned with Norwood and our playbook than Norwood and Seattle's. This will be a game about our validation and/or the Seahawks demise. I suspect they are going to try and take Olsen out like they pretty much did in the playoffs (though Chancellor was torched by Eifert last week). That, and the fact that those mid-level underneath routes may be the consistently best way to attack their secondary, could make Norwood's skill-set valuable in this game (including the noted ability in his scouting reports to help his QB out when plays break down).

The only thing that would make this sweeter is if it was the Falcons.

There are probably two or three receivers out there right now that may be not be glamorous, but just may provide an instant upgrade. There are probably a couple of more that would likely be intriguing.

Why doesn't Shula call a sweep sometimes? He just keeps running into a brick wall.
