I wouldn't rule him out, but the Steelers don't historically give up draft capital, much less before the draft has even started. The franchise is very conservative. That being said, I've heard that Fields is likely not going to have the market that he would like, and that the Bears are not going to get the compensation that they would like. If Chicago doesn't make a move before free agency, Fields may lose out in that QB game of musical chairs.

We'll see what happens, but that's not what I've been hearing for the last couple of weeks. He may get more than vet minimum, but it will be an obvious discount---money that anyone can afford. The team I've heard being suggested a lot is the Steelers. According to some, he's a natural fit for Arthur Brown's play-action-dominated scheme which could make him "DangeRuss" once again.

I don't have anything against Denver fans (maybe I should), but I can't stand Payton's smug ass, and could care less about them being collateral damage.
-
The feeling is that he'll take a lower contract with his new team in order to "inflict the maximum possible damage to the Broncos," due to offset language in the contract. The more he takes now, the more his new team would have to pay of course, and the less Denver would be on the hook for. https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10110583-russell-wilson-rumors-feeling-is-qb-signs-nfl-minimum-contract-after-broncos-exit.amp.html Trying to double dip might severely limit his options, even to the point where he may not have any. If he's sensible, he can not only land a job where he's still the QB1 and will be auditioning for better pay moving forward.

Like you said: scheme related. It's not like we actually had people who knew what they were doing. You know who did have good coaches? Fant and Gesicki. Yet they still have hardly lit the world on fire even though they've had every opportunity to do so. You're being sarcastic with me, but you're lauding a couple of Band-Aids. We need to raise our expectations. If the cards aren't in our favor during the 2024 draft, then we need to look to 2025 or 2026.

You lost me talking about Tremble. Not a threat in the passing game, but 3TDs on 23 catches. Tremble doesn't even run, so I don't know how you consider him an H+back.
-
Too expensive? He's going to cost basically nothing for the next couple of seasons.
-
What have Gesicki and Fant really done since they've been in the NFL that makes you believe that they are a legitimate long term option? The bar for making us better at the TE spot is kinda low, but I will admit that they would be an upgrade. That being said, I expect Tremble to be much-improved this season.

Greg Olsen may not get into the HOF. Whether he was "elite" is a matter of opinion. In any event, he was very good. Acquiring someone that plays at least to his level is what we should be striving for in my opinion. I mean, sure an average guy (Mike Gesicki) to a bit above average guy (Dalton Schultz) is fine to keep the lights on---get you through a pinch---but should hardly be the goal. And in today's NFL, I'd say that having a guy that who will at least make a ring of honor somewhere gives your offense a dimension that's almost necessary to get you where you want to go.

This list leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Unless Tremble develops, we'll be talking about drafting someone in 2025 if we patch things up with one of these guys.

https://sports.yahoo.com/mike-evans-tampa-bay-buccaneers-reportedly-agree-to-2-year-52-million-extension-141532699.html I will say that that's rather cheap. 35 mil guaranteed. Honestly, these will probably be his last two years as a big dog. I guess he loves his situation and figures that he could do worse. All that talk from his agent was likely posturing.

Officially Entering My Vote for WR Keon Coleman

I love Ladd. First of all he's a Dawg like me, he plays every play, he's got a high football IQ, and, maybe most importantly, he's probably the best route runner in his class, but...it I probably would pick Mitchell first due to that size and speed. In a perfect world, I'd grab both. Now I'm hearing that 6 QBs could go in the first (Chicago, Washington, New England, Minnesota, Las Vegas and Denver). If that's the case, then that will push other players down. Ladd or Adonai (though probably less so) could realistically be on the board at 33. -

Anthony Rizzuti and USA Today's list of known players we've met with as of today during the offseason. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2024/03/03/panthers-2024-draft-meetings-tracker/ Offense RB Jonathan Brooks (Texas) WR Keon Coleman (Florida State) WR Xavier Legette (South Carolina) WR Ladd McConkey (Georgia) WR Ainias Smith (Texas A&M) WR Brian Thomas Jr. (Louisiana State) WR Malik Washington (Virginia) WR Xavier Worthy (Texas) TE Jared Wiley (Texas Christian) OT Delmar Glaze (Maryland) OT Blake Larson (Augustana) OT Patrick Paul (Houston) Defense EDGE Xavier Thomas (Clemson) EDGE Bralen Trice (Washington) DL Andre Carter (Indiana) DL Jaden Crumedy (Mississippi State) DL Braden Fiske (Florida State) CB Nate Wiggins (Clemson) S Trey Taylor (Air Force) Broken down by position groups, and accounting for some skill position guys likely to be gone, this seems about right. That's Adonai Mitchell or Ladd McConkey. -
-
We just might get our trade. I hope it's a good one.
-
Fitt has a resumé of bad moves. Not accepting that trade offer was GM malpractice.

Burns was reportedly offered 27 mil. This is why I became so disgusted with him. That was really more than fair. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2024/02/21/nfl-free-agency-panthers-brian-burns-offer-franchise-tag/

All I know is if Adonai is on the board, we better pick him.
