  1. Can't faut you for that. He has something to prove this season or the raising of eyebrows will turn into more of what we're getting from many Huddlers now, and it will probably be fully justifiable.
  2. The argument that "he hasn't played since 2016" is a nonstarter. We all know why he didn't play, and most of us should also know that he was worthy of playing in the NFL in some capacity. As for believing it's all a dog and pony show, that's interesting...but I don't feel that he'd go through the trouble if he in fact didn't want to play anymore. He's already proved his point regarding the inequities and racism in the NFL in my mind (if that's what you're getting at). I think that he just wants another shot to continue his dream.
  3. I don't necessarily think that, as a rule, listening to any player when it comes to personnel decisions is the way you wanna go. Posting things like "fire" and "praying hands" or even a ding here or there on social media is decidedly benign in the grand scheme of things. And like Aggielean said, there was disdain for Robbie on the Huddle before 2021. It's just interesting is all. I can justify ragging on him for his 2021 performance, but I believe there were some mitigating factors if one chooses to be thoughtful as opposed to hateful. Even more, I could argue (and have) that when you look at the entirety of Robby's career, he has done fairly well and has been on the right trajectory, including one of two years here. Why people hate him so is really over the top in my opinion, and I certainly am not going to rubber stamp the idea that he's getting above his britches or getting out of place because his...level of play doesn't justify it. I certainly don't believe that that's an appropriate or politically correct gauge to determine Robby's right to freedom of expression (especially for things that could possibly have a direct impact upon his career).
  4. Oh yeah, I agree. I said as much if you read and understand what I said. Minshew would be one of the "journeyman" that I was referencing. I would think we'd have to keep Darnold in the case of Minshew because why would Philly take on his contract? Hell, we'd have to pay them additional resources just to take on Darnold, and that would likely lead to something unacceptable.
  5. That may be true in reference to Mayfield, but it's not necessarily true in reference to Kaepernick. Kap was cut off at the knees for different reasons during what should've been the prime of his career, so much so that he wouldn't even be considered for a backup job (and that's bullshit). In any event, I don't think there's any harm in seeing what he has now if teams so choose. From some perspective, it would be fitting.
  6. I most assuredly believe that we'll see if you're correct at some point within these next two weeks.
  7. No harm, no foul...so far. No pending deal. If there's a deal, the Devil is always I the details. I just don't see anything happening on any front, save for a journeyman, without Darnold being shipped to the other party as a result, and what self-respecting GM wants to do that? But, if we can jettison Darnold and halfway fix the compounded path of destruction of the wake of that trade and mitigate future damage, I'd be OK with it. No more dilly-dallying with day 1 and day 2 draft picks, please?!
  8. Oh, now the chart is "arbitrary"...Chart aside, there are opportunity costs associated with each pick. That's the truth. Historically, GMs don't do all that great; a couple of quality starters from the draft, and you're worth your weight in gold. If you can do better than that, it's gravy. Unfortunately I can't say for sure if we'll be able to get away from paper analysis unless Rhule gets the hell out of the way. He's dampening our ability to see Fitterer and the quality of his picks for what they really are. I do have reason to believe that he will due to the acquisition of actual experienced NFL coaches. If Rhule has learned that lesson however, I suspect for guys like BC, Tremble, and even Thomas and Hubbard to step up. TMJ, still very talented, is almost a lock to flash provied that he's overcome his injury woes and is not "bench-beaten" by Rhule as well. As for this draft, I only expect one quality player anyway with so little draft capital. In any event, I'm not giving up.
  9. They don't like his locs... I don't think a few posts on social media are that big of a deal. People today blow the importance of social media way out of proportion. At the end of the day, my opinion is if we can consider Mayfield and Garropolo or Minshew, we can also give Kaepernick a chance, and that's what I'm sticking to.
  10. Even if what you say is true from an overarching perspective , the ability to separate and appreciate the player from the draft pick is kind of what analytical thinking is all about in regards to draft value discussions. I'd add, that the draft is in some sense about the number of horses you have in the race, and obtaining the best positions which to jockey from. The better positions that you can jockey from, the more you might be able to win (in this case, hit the target).
  11. If we ultimately obtain Minshew, I will be shaking my head. I came to the conclusion that Minshew should be our target a year ago based upon Panthers Wire (who obviously put the thought out there). There were a few others in agreement of course. If we could see it, then why not the Panthers FO? We would be in so much of a better place today if we had gone the route of acquiring Minshew as a UFA, as opposed to getting fleeced by the Jets. Not saying that Minshew is the answer to anyone's prayers, that's not what this is all about, but he would've been at the very least the perfect bridge QB that you lose relatively little on by taking a swing. Now, if we give up any appreciable draft capital to acquire him, or acquire him at all, I just won't know how to take it. I'm sure I'll have a certain amount of relief--like it was all a bad nightmare that could have been avoided that's now over--but there are repercussions regardless. Irony...regardless.
  12. He wasn't in control there, but they were able to get some quality pieces that played (play) above their draft value. And I think our guys will too, even if it's just one or two. Moreover, I think that it's pretty much accepted at this point by NFL types that just looking at the value of the picks themselves (irrespective of the players), Fitterer was masterful. Too bad the the Darnold trade in free agency that preceded it dampened the mastery, and the Darnold extension just made Fitterer's overall viability questionable. In my opinion, there's been a certain contingent in the Huddle that's just going to associate anything in regards to this regime as negative and have no objectivity towards it at all. I don't believe that it's been all bad, but that dumb Darnold decisions regarding trade compensation and his extension are perhaps difficult to see over.
  13. Not gonna lie, I want him...on day three.
  14. Perhaps, but not really. If you look at where he came from, the way that he maneuvered his first draft and draft capital, and look at his demeanor and listen to his words during this off-season, there is some reason for hope--not "pure hope", but hope. Granted, there's always a degree of wishful thinking, especially with a relatively new GM...
  15. If we do, there's no hope for us. Not that I really give any of these reports much seriousness, but at least the book hasn't been written on Murray. He has maturity issues it seems, but his play is in a different stratosphere than Baker Mayfield's or Jimmy Garrapolo's. With some seasoning, he may turn out pretty great. Let's not forget that it's still the lying season at the bottom of the stairwell to the draft. I'm skeptical of these reports, but I do believe we inquire about any deal, but it only matters if there is a legitimate deal to be made. Fitterer isn't dumb, I don't believe. He learns, I'm thinking. He's the countermeasure to continued craziness I hope.
  16. He may be overrated, but so is Mayfield. And the truth is, Mayfield is a bust with a bad attitude to boot.
  17. Nah, man. Kap was better than Mayfield. It's debatable. What I will say is that Mayfield has been at best decent since being drafted number 1 overall, and his ball security has been worse than Darnold's, despite being in a decidedly better situation. Kap's best is higher than Mayfield's, and Mayfield's low has been lower than Kap's. If Kap, Mayfield and Darnold are all in the same tier, and you aren't interested in Kap, then why be interested in Mayfield? You might as well keep Darnold.
  18. Well, after many a beer during the course of the games last season, I must not have drank enough because Darnold just got uglier as the games, and similarly the season, went on. It was a sobering experience. J/k
  19. Honestly, I can appreciate that. In some ways, as it pertains to the Panthers, and really American culture--if not the many stressful things that are plaguing our world in general--I'm just wary. I'm to the point now, right or wrong and with some mixed feelings, that I just feel that people are gonna do what people are gonna do.
  20. I mean, if we're talking LT, it's got to be Blake Brockermeyer.
  21. I am sorry for your loss. Pancreatic cancer is the worst. As for "Keep Pounding", let's not lose perspective here. You have explained the life, history, meaning or whatever words you want to use behind the term as a Panthers fan from your perspective. I used the term "saying", not "slogan", but even if I did, I don't believe that me or anyone within the context of answering a question on a message board and attempting to be as concise as possible, which is really what language is all about is "trivializing" the meaning behind what Sam Mills' was trying to convey, and to be honest it kinda made me feel some type of way, especially as one whose sister-in-law is now on the tail end of triple negative breast cancer treatment (she's been through the radiation, chemo, surgery, and is now taking pills and being monitored for things like her white blood cell count, etc), whose brother-in-law endured orapharynx cancer (basically throat cancer that derived from the Human Papilloma Virus or [HPV])---but was announced "clean" literally three months before my sister-in-law was diagnosed with hers last year, which was approximately two years after my wife's aunt overcame her battle with breast cancer. All are alive and doing relatively well, but the struggles are real. We are thankful they survived however. We have gotten to wear pink (and burgundy) ribbons at celebrations in their honor. On the other end of the spectrum, we've both had aunts die in their 50s from breast cancer. My wife and I were no strangers to them during either of their struggles. I can't say that we used the term "Keep Pounding" per se because when you're trying to be positive in the face of someone dying a progressive, yet agressive form of cancer or similar disease, at times the situation is surreal, but I can tell you that we communicated similar sentiments via whatever words or sayings that we could muster. I tell you this to say that I know something of the struggle and would never "trivialize" the meaning behind "Keep Pounding", but that when discussing it, the most succinct way to describe it in reference to the English language is by either using the term "slogan" or perhaps a better term "mantra" that is used on the team's website (but even one of the definitions of "mantra" references "slogan"). The "blasphemy", if there is any, is not in using a decidedly appropriate term to succinctly describe "Keep Pounding" to other Panthers fans, the blasphemy would be the fact that Tepper apparently wants to change it at all. Once you let your feelings known, as undoubtedly others will and maybe already have, perhaps he'll reconsider it. But even if he doesn't, I doubt that it or the story behind it will be going away because it's part of the franchise's history. Don't give up! Keep pounding!
  22. Still overlooking the best leader out there, I see.
  23. This is simply PURE SPECULATION. Honestly there was really no reason to start the thread. Rapsheet is just shooting the sh¡t.
  24. Hey, I'll take your word for it. Capology is not my strong suit (and I'm not interested in all adding up all those numbers). I know some are, so I'm counting on y'all to give me the scoop. Accurately of course.
