  1. I think it's going to create some drama at the very least. The drama won't be immediate, but somewhere down the road, we're in for a soap opera. I honestly don't know how I feel about the trade and all of the potential implications, or just simply the dynamics, but hopefully true competition will raise the level of the room, and not be an outlet for coaches to become complacent and default to certain players in the long term simply because they are here.
  2. I'm not trying to be funny, but they've even had great trouble in the ACC notwithstanding all that. It's going to take much more.
  3. It went from a four or five to a six or seven. My excitement level for the season isn't really determined until late September or early October. We still have a brutal schedule.
  4. I was responding to notifications, then went to the main board and saw this thread title. I was like, "Why in the fug is he asking that, did something happen?" Well, now I know.
  5. They'll get what they deserve then. I can't speak for the Big 10, but the SEC's culture is CFB. If a school doesn't live that reality, then they will become punching bags for the big boys (maybe even the little boys if the Razorbacks-Longhorns game is any indication). If Miami and Clemson are not ready to sell their souls to football (and all that that entails), then they should stay put...unless they're simply selling out for the money. I guess that the brass at the schools can still feel like winners even if they're perennial losers on the gridiron . As an alum or fan, I wouldn't be happy.
  6. I decided to clean the bathroom for the wife, so I searched Panthers on YT, and this analysis came up. Now I'm not saying that you will learn anything new per se, but you will get some perspectives from outside the fan base, and you may get some insight on a few of the day 3 players (including the UDFAs). I think that it's fair. Spoiler alert: seven wins if everything goes right in large part because of a brutal schedule, notwithstanding a team with talent.
  7. Big fish in small pond. I don't think any of the ACC teams want to move lest they turn into the Vandys and Northwesterns of the world.
  8. I mean, I never really got drugs. If I really wanted to get high, alcohol was always enough for me. I mean, maybe exploring and finding yourself is a draw for a teen or a 20-year-old, but I'd think that by 25 that you'd pretty much have some things figured out. I figure that drugs are a means of escape to a certain degree, but why would you need to escape if you're living out your dream. I know that I really can't identify because I've never had a problem with addiction--at least that's what my wife says (she didn't know me in school), but I really don't get why a person with so much to live for messes around with a drug that has proven to be deadly. I guess that I'll never get it.
  9. The thing that I like is that Bama had to legitimately give MC's running ability and play fakes respect. The Rebels weren't one dimensional with MC's talent and ability, which in turned help open up the playbook , and that helped them hang so many points on Bama's defense. There's something to be learned here.
  10. Honestly, it's simply part of the process. It's a dirty business, but they're going to reach back to high school (or even further) when evaluating a player. The rumors and poo had an effect, how much we'll never know, but the injuries were the main problem. They opened the door wider and gave people the opportunity to focus on BS while MC was on the mend. The good thing is that if he performs up to his potential, whatever financial hit he has to take on his first few years in the league will be more than offset with future earnings. It's not where you begin, but where you end up.
  11. Not the "straight and narrow" (oh, hell no), then you wouldn't be you.
  12. I'm just messing with you, my friend, but keeping you straight at the same time.
  13. Yep. Of course I don't know for sure, but I think that there was a directed effort to blackball MC and destroy his career inasmuch as Gretsky (and his sphere of influence) was able. The thing is, though, is that talent and and potential dollar signs for big-time football programs is always going to take priority over past wrongs, whether they're real, imagined or fabricated. Of course it still takes a special kind of guy to overcome the obstacles and succeed. I know it may seem like a fairly normal occurrence in the dynamics of amateur football, but the fact that Corral was able to maneuver the unfairness stemming from at least one of the powers-that-be trying to cut him off at the knees, should give Panthers fans some comfort. He's not your ordinary kid.
  14. BY the way, I also told y'all all that off-field poo was either overblown or a straight up lie. That's what it is! Sure, MC my still need to get out of him own head at times, but he's smart, and he's a winner. That winning mentality and drive to overcome is innate!
  15. It's almost like no one, save a few, believed anything I've been saying. I only had one main question regarding MC coming into this league, & I said the same thing about CMC when he came into the league, so I am not going to jinx Matt. But, suffice it to say that CMC's position is one where the fire can't be avoided, and MC's position is about the most protected class in football. He'll take his hits, but he's smart enough to help mitigate those. As for the game, he's got it, and he's got it in spades!
  16. Not "trouble" per se, Jon Snow, just taking the requisite time that a young QB legitimately needs become a credible pro QB while learning the necessary particulars of the job. This is but a normal part of transition.
  17. Not buying that argument. Short fields and turnovers puts undue pressure on the defense, so of course the opposition is going to score. We had issues to be sure, but the offense was a huge one. The other huge one was getting burned on third downs. If we can change that around, our defense will be top 10. If we change both, top five.
  18. Yes, but mostly for the top-shelf guys in the tier of Adams and Hill. McLaurin's contract is closer to Moore's than theirs. Most, outside of some Panthers fans, would likely tell you that McLaurin is 9+ mil better than Moore (over three years).
  19. I'd blame him. He signed a good deal, and I believe it's one very much in the scope of his relative market value.
  20. I don't even know who that is, but it's easy to be an ass online, but not necessarily so easy in someone's face. Perhaps dude just gets his rocks off on trolling across social platforms. I think there's a degree of cowardice in that, but it is what it is. Perhaps it's simply a form of entertainment. You never know what's going through people's minds.
  21. No, nothing unscrupulous going on here. A little sloppy with the business practices by not keeping a delineation between his real estate company (set up for that particular propertyost likely) and the Panthers LLC perhaps, but nothing criminal Wells that's likely to be the claim, but I'd suapect that it's a little nebulous, and assuming @CBDellinger , a fellow huddler who responded to my original question in this thread, knows about this sort of thing, then the Panthers' legal liability is probably nominal, if not nil. Attorneys, feel free to chime in.
  22. Any lawyers want to speak on this claim of liability based solely on association? Is there any precedent, or is it more a case of straw grasping? Even under the worst case scenario, I don't believe it will change the price of tea in China regarding Panthers operations (other than using Panthers checks for official Panthers business. Tepper may take a hit, but, "Que será será!"
