Four years of brand new ownership of an NFL franchise is not enough time to build a troubled franchise into a perennial contender. Running a successful franchise is not static, it's dynamic. Patience is your friend; a lack of patience is your enemy.

More behind the scenes info on the Mayfield trade
top dawg replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, I'd think that this offseason has at least provided enough evidence that Rhule and company have been more thoughtful about their plan and approach to improve the team. How they exactly got there, we'll likely never know the complete story. As for reports about Rhule being happy when he leaves, that's simply based on money and the thought that he will have many opportunities in the NCAA. It doesn't mean that he actually wants to leave his current position, or that the staff is bereft of harmony. I'm sure they're has been stress and tension due to the train wreck that was last season. But, however the change came about, Rhule has been better for it this offseason, and hopefully the change will translate during the season. -
Texans 2nd Round rookie diagnosed with leukemia

He's got some rough days ahead, but he's young and strong with a form of cancer that's very much conquerable. His comeback will be a great story. -

That's not really diminished authority, it's smart leadership. Willingness to adapt due to the situation is not a bad thing. -
I really don't remember all these people saying that the defense was special. In fact the overall rankings say it was middle of the road, which is not exactly dog sh¡t, and which is more in line with what took place in the games (and I watched every one of them). We had multiple injuries, inexperience, problems with getting off the field on third down, and had to overcome a terrible offense to boot. I've been watching football for 50 years like some here too. No cap! I do believe that some within the media are trying to shoot sunshine up our asses regarding the defense, but I also believe that there is some reason to be optimisic with the young talent, and with some veteran additions that should at least be able to be average in Woods, Wilson and Ioaniddis. If we can stop the run more consistently and get off the field on third downs, we will move within the top 10 of overall defense. If we do one or the either, I think we'll move up to the top half of the league. I don't think it's all doom and gloom, but, yes, some of our defensive improvement will come down to the offense's efficiency or lack thereof.

Well, it's like I said: it's more guaranteed money, not more money per se. The offset language within the contracts speaks to the guarantees.
-
I don't believe that we know what the hold up was. Do they really have the power to hold franchises' feet to the fire? Not really. Sometimes it's simply the offset language in the contract. It doesn't have to be about "more money", just the guarantees.

They were my top two QBs this draft, and that was for their upside. I think they will surprise.

I'd say that considering the context, that Robbie Anderson's numbers were above average in New York. I know I could be kinda splitting hairs. In my opinion, he's only had one off year, and that was 2021. It's unfortunate that this coincided with his above average contract. Hopefully it was a blip in the road for him and the rest of the franchise.

Times are tough, but they've always been for many people. The fact that they'd welcome what could be considered hypocrisy or wrong--depending on one's perspective--in order to get paid or having after being paid just shows how off kilter that society has gotten. But that's another discussion that's perhaps more appropriate other forums. I think that Robbie, just like many athletes, has to literally accept the boos because a portion of folks are going to do it regardless. The issue for some seems to be that he spoke up about it. He called out some fans. To me, he's got a point, but to others he should keep his mouth shut. In general, I think that people should remember that athletes are people too (with all types of personalities and experiences). They must remember that fans are too. Just like fans voice their displeasure, athletes are going to do that sometimes as well. It doesn't make either of them bad people. I could go on, but suffice it to say that I believe in that there are better ways to display your displeasure than booing your own team.

Do you know how juvenile and disingenuous that you sound? It's ironic that you're suggesting that I'm off my rocker from your response. But, do you!

Did you not intimate that Robbie played like dog sh¡t all season and turned on the fans and suggest that that is unforgivable, saying that you're off his bandwagon permanently? Or maybe you're just talking about Brown, even though you said "too". Did you not suggest that Robbie did not take personal responsibility, the implication being that he doesn't care? If you're going to say something, say it and own it. I do. You literally used the term "turn on fans" and "lack of personal responsibility thing", "play like dogshit all season", and now you're intimating that I'm talking out the side of my neck which is ludicrous. 1. Robbie didn't play like dog sh¡t all season. He had a rough couple of weeks. For the season he was slightly below average at worst. The issue is that he played under his potential and didn't earn his money. 2. Robbie absolutely took accountability for his drops. 3. Robbie got upset that fans booed Darnold when he came in to replace Cam. A couple of plays later they were cheering when Darnold found Shi Smith for 63 yards. So, yes, Robbie got emotional about it: “Like, that’s not real fans, you know what I’m saying?” he added. “For the culture that we’re building, we don’t want no fake fans. We want diehard, loyal fans that’s gonna ride or die for us. Simple as that.” You might not like what he said, but that's hardly turning on the fans. And, to be honest, some fans are downright hypocritical. I've always felt that booing your own team is uncalled for. Personally, I never boo the home team. I might say some expletives out of frustration, but that's just me. I support the guys and wish for the best even when they're fuging up. I responded to the words that came out of your brain, not mine. Stop trying to gaslight!

"Turn on the fans" is a bit hyperbolic. I also take issue with you trying to act like Robbie doesn't care. That's bull. I'm not going to hate on a player for being emotional. The team played like dog sh¡t. Robbie had an extremely bad week of drops--maybe two if you want to look at it that way--but that hasn't been his calling card. He was pressing on a bad team where the QB(s) couldn't maximize his skill set for most of the year. Hell, even Teddy didn't do it in 2020 from my perspective. I'm gonna tell you the same as I've told all the Robbie haters; if he has another bad season (which he was really still average in 2021 per PFF), then have at it. Until then, you're just looking like a petty fan with an unrighteous ax to grind.

At this point, we're just going to have to see what's what during the season. There's really no more need to debate it. No one is going to convince me that it's a bad thing that we were the #2 defense in yards allowed. Will that make us winners? Hell no. But it's better than being #31 in yards allowed. It means that there is hope, if some things can be cleared up. Certainly part of the equation is limiting offensive turnovers. We must do that to keep leads and win, and it can't be overstated.

I would say that this really proves little. The elephant in the room is the turnover differential. Our offense was ranked 29th.

In a game, yes...70.5 air yards...

Which also begs the question...Is Baker's arm as even as strong as Matt Corral's...our QB3?
-
Let's leave this here. Pay attention to the contestants, two of which that I know are in the NFL, the last one being our presumed QB3

230.5 mil, 160 guaranteed. Crazy money. https://www.nfl.com/news/kyler-murray-cardinals-agree-to-terms-on-contract-extension-through-2028-season

For about two seconds, I was like "Why is Scot posting old sh¡t?" Then I had to look at it a little closer and listen again. That's terrible. I hope that something isn't going on cognitively with Bayless. Hopefully it's just a case of him being an underprepared tool.

Is this a joke, or editing trickery?

Don't hate on me because I can see things that you can't.
