I don't know what's so confusing. Assuming the smallest QB prospect by far in the modern NFL has not been in the NFL, there is no data which to say whether he will be successful or not. Now of course, that is assuming that all you Size Bros don't accept Drew Brees or Russell Wilson in the sample size (or Joe Theisman or Montana, or any smaller QB). Assuming that Young has the smallest frame of all, he'll be a pioneer, as will the franchise that drafts him. How Young goes will probably speak to whether or not smaller guys will get drafted so high in the future. On an off note, "Go Stetson!"

I could argue that if Gettleman had acquired a competent LT to protect Cam, then we'd have a Super Bowl championship right now. He was solely responsible for the worst contract signing in franchise history in my book. I am not enamored in the slightest with Gentleman's roster construction. He may not have "wasted" them, but had he done his job better, Cam and Luke would be champs, and Rivera would've never had his tiny run as defacto GM.

That was planned meltdown mitigation. From my perspective, a surprise was never in the cards (even though the media was doing it's best to generate suspense).

I don't know that anyone on the Huddle has fallen madly in love with Young. At least I haven't seen it. What I can say is that there are those, myself included, who believe that he has the best tape, unique talent, and the most natural feel for what he needs to do situationally to have success on the field at any given moment during a game. We all know what his presumed shortcoming is. Some have decided that makes him untouchable, while others say that when weighed against everything else, the risk is with the reward.

I mean, I really can't ascribe the wasting of Cam and Luke's best years to Rivera as much as I do Gettleman. If Rivera sucks this year, now that he's the one basically in control, I'll say that you're probably right, but I wouldn't count him out just yet.

Yeah, it's time to roll with the flow, or jump off the train. The way that Young has been unabashedly belittled (no pun intended) by some in here is not productive on any level.

It has already been reported that Tepper is letting his GM and HC make the pick. It has also been reported a few times that Young was the guy to beat initially, though the staff was open-minded enough to see if someone could surpass him. Apparently no one did.

According to some here, perhaps a red jersey is more in order... I'd go with the blue. It's less likely to show stains.

Yeah, it's already been reported that Tepper is NOT making the pick. The reason why Young is looking like the pick is mainly because of what he did on the field. To suggest otherwise is simply being disingenuous and disconnected from reality when you get down to it. Young's tape is better than Stroud's pure and simple.

I watched every play. If you're trying to suggest to me that those weren't jailbreaks, we're just going to disagree. No QB was getting away from the DTs or the LBs. To try and downgrade him for those plays are somewhat disingenuous. But like you said, "Whatever."

No, he generally doesn't have those types of problems. Do you see any problems with Young throwing from the pocket, or into tight windows listed on any credible scouting report (if any at all)? And, for all the talk of those games that you mentioned, it's not like they were examples of why NOT to draft Young. If anything, they showed his versatility, escape-ability and ability to get the ball to receivers even though the pocket broke down. Hell, those sacks or near-sacks were jailbreaks due to the breakdown of the O-line. Moreover, the Bama receivers left a few balls on the turf. Anyone who actually watches his play during those games would know without a doubt that he actually can and does throw from the pocket, even under pressure, and he can throw into tight windows like the best of them when it's necessary. Was Young perfect? No. He threw a couple of questionable throws while pressured, and he sailed three or four over the receivers'heads, but I have yet to see the perfect QB, especially when being pressured. And, at the end of the day, these were arguably good games to actually observe Young's extraordinary skill set

I've looked at several analyses, and Young is a better tight window thrower than CJ is a scrambler, inside or outside the pocket. C.J. is the best pure thrower in the draft, and that is his claim to fame. It's no small thing, but he's closer to just an average guy pertaining to pocket awareness and the ability to extend plays. Bryce does not have an issue with throwing from the pocket or throwing into tight windows. That's not a weakness of his in the slightest. I don't see why anyone that's actually been researching these guys would have a problem with admitting these things.

I told this place in early March that if we move up to one that it would be for Young. Much like many things, I just listen to weeks of people talking all kinds of outlandish poo without saying too much, and just let the reality come to fruition. Young will be a good QB in the NFL, and won't be injured anymore than any other QB, if not less than most. Such are his elite movement skills and processing.

I am not trying to be derisive, but I am going to ascribe way more validity to the brain trust that constitutes our highly experienced coaching staff than opinions of message board members, or even the decidedly dogmatic opinion of a crotchety old coach of a now bygone era of football.

You can say that about most cars though.
