  1. I mean, I really can't ascribe the wasting of Cam and Luke's best years to Rivera as much as I do Gettleman. If Rivera sucks this year, now that he's the one basically in control, I'll say that you're probably right, but I wouldn't count him out just yet.
  2. Yeah, it's time to roll with the flow, or jump off the train. The way that Young has been unabashedly belittled (no pun intended) by some in here is not productive on any level.
  3. It has already been reported that Tepper is letting his GM and HC make the pick. It has also been reported a few times that Young was the guy to beat initially, though the staff was open-minded enough to see if someone could surpass him. Apparently no one did.
  4. According to some here, perhaps a red jersey is more in order... I'd go with the blue. It's less likely to show stains.
  5. Yeah, it's already been reported that Tepper is NOT making the pick. The reason why Young is looking like the pick is mainly because of what he did on the field. To suggest otherwise is simply being disingenuous and disconnected from reality when you get down to it. Young's tape is better than Stroud's pure and simple.
  6. I watched every play. If you're trying to suggest to me that those weren't jailbreaks, we're just going to disagree. No QB was getting away from the DTs or the LBs. To try and downgrade him for those plays are somewhat disingenuous. But like you said, "Whatever."
  7. No, he generally doesn't have those types of problems. Do you see any problems with Young throwing from the pocket, or into tight windows listed on any credible scouting report (if any at all)? And, for all the talk of those games that you mentioned, it's not like they were examples of why NOT to draft Young. If anything, they showed his versatility, escape-ability and ability to get the ball to receivers even though the pocket broke down. Hell, those sacks or near-sacks were jailbreaks due to the breakdown of the O-line. Moreover, the Bama receivers left a few balls on the turf. Anyone who actually watches his play during those games would know without a doubt that he actually can and does throw from the pocket, even under pressure, and he can throw into tight windows like the best of them when it's necessary. Was Young perfect? No. He threw a couple of questionable throws while pressured, and he sailed three or four over the receivers'heads, but I have yet to see the perfect QB, especially when being pressured. And, at the end of the day, these were arguably good games to actually observe Young's extraordinary skill set
  8. I've looked at several analyses, and Young is a better tight window thrower than CJ is a scrambler, inside or outside the pocket. C.J. is the best pure thrower in the draft, and that is his claim to fame. It's no small thing, but he's closer to just an average guy pertaining to pocket awareness and the ability to extend plays. Bryce does not have an issue with throwing from the pocket or throwing into tight windows. That's not a weakness of his in the slightest. I don't see why anyone that's actually been researching these guys would have a problem with admitting these things.
  9. Young threw into tight windows plenty. Come on, dude.
  10. I told this place in early March that if we move up to one that it would be for Young. Much like many things, I just listen to weeks of people talking all kinds of outlandish poo without saying too much, and just let the reality come to fruition. Young will be a good QB in the NFL, and won't be injured anymore than any other QB, if not less than most. Such are his elite movement skills and processing.
  11. I am not trying to be derisive, but I am going to ascribe way more validity to the brain trust that constitutes our highly experienced coaching staff than opinions of message board members, or even the decidedly dogmatic opinion of a crotchety old coach of a now bygone era of football.
  12. Nah. It's not like he's a surefire WR1. I mean, he ain't Chase, Jefferson or even Moore. He'd have to prove he's better than a healthy Chark or a flashing TMJ or old man Thielen. I'm not even sure that he'll end up the best in this draft. I say we stay put and let talent fall to us.
  13. I mean, that's what Tepper has been doing all along. His mistake was giving full control to a college coach who couldn't make the transition from the NCAA to the NFL.
  14. That would be enticing, but I believe the ship has sailed. All parties involved have begun envisioning BY as our franchise QB. Indeed, the source says BY will soon have a home in Charlotte.
  15. Wilson has had a fine career overall. He's not even really a bad guy, and has been a good football player. Anyway, Bryce is Bryce. Pro comps are pretty useless.
  16. That's never been proven. You're speculating in reference to coaches being anti-Young or pro-Stroud.
  17. Well I called it in early March, so it's not surprising to me in the slightest. What was kind of surprising is the extent to which some Huddlers bought into media hype and narratives. What was more surprising is how some Huddlers belittled Bryce Young (pun intended) for his size and disregarded his track record of displaying elite traits in college. Admittedly, I almost fell for the hype, but I just couldn't take the intellectual leap that required one to disregard the consistent talent and skills of BY in their entirety to those who have displayed varying amounts of talent and skills inconsistently. That just didn't vibe with my train of thought.
  18. All franchises now use PFF. Just saying. If it was "straight trash," the NFL probably would forego it as a tool.
  19. "His only negative is that most of the other quarterbacks in this draft stand head and shoulders above him (literally) from a stature standpoint. He measured in just a fraction over 5-foot-10 in height, and though he got to 204 pounds in weight by the NFL Combine, his playing weight is as likely to be below 190 than it is above it. That combination of size is virtually unprecedented for a top-tier NFL quarterback, and that level of outlier may terrify teams at the top of the draft. We have no proof that Young’s size will ever be a detriment to his fortunes at the next level, but the lack of uncertainty is concerning." ...... "Stroud’s biggest weakness has been play under pressure — outside of his college playoff game against Georgia this season. His PFF grade from a clean pocket this season finished at 93.4 but dropped to 42.0 when he was pressured. His 10.3 yards per attempt from a clean pocket became 5.7 when under duress, and he ranked in just the 10th percentile in PFF grade under pressure. The game against Georgia showed that he has it in him to excel in those circumstances, but the rest of his college tape shows he hasn’t been able to do it consistently." https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2023-nfl-draft-biggest-pro-con-top-qb-prospects
  20. I wouldn't be mad, unless some like Kincaid or possibly Quentin Johnston are there. At the end of the day, I probably wouldn't be upset at all. If the coaches believe there is potential day-one starter level talent later in the draft, I guess I'd have to suck it up as the cost of moving up in the first. We're going to have to try to make up some ground this draft and the next.
