  1. And don't get me wrong, Fournette would be nice at the right Dollar Store Dave price, but I can't say---you might be able to---but I can't say that at this time in their respective careers that Fournette is a better option than Chuba.
  2. Chuba, as I've been saying for a couple of seasons now, is simply just highly underrated on the Huddle. APY: $1.048 million (rookie contract; 85th among running backs). Hubbard took a big step forward as a runner and receiver in 2022, with major bumps in yards per carry (4.9, up from 3.6 in 2021) and yards per reception (12.2, up from 7.0). And he averaged 5.0 yards per rush between the tackles last year, per Next Gen Stats, tying for eighth in the league. While free-agent acquisition Miles Sanders forecasts to be the primary back in Carolina, Hubbard's importance and reliability drive a ton of value -- especially while rookie QB Bryce Young adjusts to the NFL game. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-s-most-underappreciated-players-kirk-cousins-osa-odighizuwa-among-nfc-picks#:~:text=Hubbard took a,for eighth in the league. Hubbard was quietly efficient behind a Panthers offensive line that got into an excellent groove on the ground in the second half. Hubbard averaged 4.9 yards per carry and even showed an evolved ability to impact the pass game (sixth-best yards per route run). https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/2865693/chuba-hubbard/fantasy/ Hubbard, according to Next Gen Stats, was actually the most efficient rusher in the league last season. His 3.18 efficiency rating, which is calculated by taking the total distance a player traveled on rushing plays per rushing yards gained, ranked first amongst all ball carriers in 2022. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/05/30/panthers-rb-chuba-hubbard-underappreciated-next-gen-stats-miles-sanders/ I just don't know what some of you are/aren't seeing. Like I said in an earlier thread: some of you must expect the guy to run through walks. Chuba is like one of the better backups that there is. I think people just hate him because he was a Rhule pick (Julie and Matt).
  3. Young will save a lot of jobs, or lose a lot of jobs. They pinned their livelihoods to the little fella. Don't let him flop and Stroud explode. That's the worst case scenario for Fitt and the entire staff (the Huddle and all fans).
  4. I don't understand why people are trying to make a big deal over Howell...and I've seen a mention of Brock Purdy... Yeah, everyone saw that coming. All an FO (obviously including the GM) can do is make decisions based upon current information. Sometimes they get it wrong. Sometimes they get it right. There is no perfect FO. They just can't show a track record of compounding errors year after year without consequences. But there still has to be some perspective from the owner, least they want to be the Browns or Jets.
  5. It's difficult to determine where Rhule's responsibility for our current state of the team ended and Fitterer's responsibility began, but for the day Rhule was fired. That's the only clear line of demarcation that we really have. [Not to mention, that we know that Rhule had full roster control] As such, I would be surprised if he is axed after the season. I think that Tepper did an accounting before he axed Rhule. He decided that Fitterer would have a certain amount of time to right the ship. Being that Tepper seems like a relatively patient guy, not given in to knee-jerk reactions, I believe that the only thing that would get Fitterer fired after this season is a gross waste of resources. That was really the big no-no that Tepper mentioned in his first presser after Rhule was axed. So far, in my opinion, draft picks (plus D.J. Moore) that we spent relative to the value that we believe we're getting with Bryce Young was a good transaction. So we're good on that front. I don't think that anyone can argue that the cap isn't in great shape. So far, mission accomplished. Fitterer appears to be playing the long game.
  6. Not in love with Wilks or Reich until proven otherwise.
  7. It doesn't matter anyway because Fitterer has done things a little differently since Rhule was axed.
  8. Rhule was on board with Corral until he got Baker. Some of you keep forgetting that the acquisition of Baker is what really made Rhule flip the script.
  9. Yep. The staff sees more, and knows what they're looking for as far as progress. Sure, he had a bad passing game last week, but that's only what the public was privy to. All these Huddlers with their crystal balls saying Corral, Thomas, Henderson, Hubbard and YGM were going to be cut were simply blowing hot air.
  10. Not buying that he wants to go somewhere. He said otherwise. Corral's NFL experience, if nothing else, has probably been very humbling to him. He likely knows that he needs more work to get where he wants to be. He may revisit that next off-season, but at this moment no one's giving him a starting opportunity or even a number 2 gig (nor should they). He has several highly regarded coaches here who know the position (and the NFL knows this too), so he'll continue to be developed, and perhaps at some point he'll get his shot as a QB2 here or elsewhere. If he can't do it here, I don't see why others would think that he can do it wherever, unless Reich and company give him rave reviews or he shows considerable growth by this time next year.
  11. Girl didn't even get off her phone. Damn!
  12. Sixth best yards per route run. That's efficiency.
  13. Chuba averaged the same YPC as Miles Sanders. I'm sure there was an article by the NFL's Next Gen Stats that said Hubbard was the most efficient back in the league in 2022. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/05/26/panthers-nfl-analytics-expert-panthers-most-underappreciated-chuba-hubbard/ https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/2865693/chuba-hubbard/fantasy/ Hubbard also had a good grade from PFF. I guess you guys expect him to run through walls or something.
  14. That's obvious, but certainly not a guarantee.
  15. You do know that I can quote an article about not only how EE, but also Tem Lukaba have said that YGM has made marked progress since when OTAs began? Either way, there's hardly any analysts talking about YGM (if any) because frankly it's not that important to them. We'll have to wait and see what the coaches decide, much more than that is just speculation and more akin to fan desires than anything else. Also, I'd add that saying YGM has an adjustment to make back in April is hardly some great analytical statement upon whether he can, much less whether he'll be good or bad at it.
  16. Don't know who these numerous analysts are, outside Huddle analysts, that is.
  17. Assumption is built into your response. Good football players will probably find a way to succeed in any defense as long as coaches give them the freedom to do so.
  18. I don't really get why people like what they saw from Dalton. He was terrible. He threw a hospital ball that could've gotten Shi killed. He threw a short pass to Thomas before Ian could get his head around. He threw a short pass to Thomas well behind the line in a ton of traffic that he should've thrown into the ground. And the worst thing that he did was basically telegraph an INT by making an awful decision. He did Andy Dalton things, similar to what he's done the past few years and why he has become a bounced-around journeyman. He's too experienced to be playing this sub par.
  19. Ouch! Simms will have to admit it though if he cares anything about his credibility.
  20. Corral is certainly more mobile and appears to protect the ball better than Dalton. But he was so inaccurate last night that not even the DB had a chance to intercept the ball. He may just get the benefit of doubt. The coaches have the total picture. He "picked a bad day to have a bad day." That doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be canned or even deserves to be canned. He's still a Panther right now, so that's something.
  21. I mean, I'm sure we didn't sign him with the expectation that he'd only play half the season. So there's going to be a lot of disappointment. That being said, we paid him like he'd only be available half the season. However, he was missed last night for sure.
  22. I mean, at she skill positions on offense, I'd certainly like more than Young and Thielen being the only ones that came out totally healthy on offense. Mingo is largely unproven and needs to develop. I mean, I suppose that TMJ, Shenault and Chark don't have "major injuries." They have the kind that can linger or become a problem though. And at least one of them is certainly part of our star core. Two weeks and the regular season should "motivate" them to heal though. I'm going to include Boobie in that number as well.
  23. Other than half the receiving corps being hurt...
