  1. Lamar wins! That's what he does. He has never looked like trash, which is funny because you're totally discounting the "eye test," and I don't think he'd look like trash here. If you think he'd look like trash here, then you really would have to believe that any QB would look like trash here (which I don't really believe). He may not be in the MVP race if he came here, but no other QB would be in that race either. Here is some food for thought: "One number from his 2019 season that Jackson should eclipse by a significant margin is his passing yardage. He finished with 3,127 yards in 2019 but already has 3,105 this year. The Ringer's Benjamin Solak pointed out that if Jackson continues passing and running at his current pace over the final three weeks of the season, he'll again make history. With 171 passing yards and 97 rushing yards tonight, Lamar Jackson is now on pace for 3,770 passing yards and 900 rushing yards on the season. A 3,700 passing/900 rushing season has never been done before in NFL history. — Benjamin Solak (@BenjaminSolak) December 18, 2023" https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/lamar-jackson-much-better-quarterback-now-than-2019-mvp-season In my opinion, Jackson was largely underrated by many people last off-season, but after this season's performance and seeing how his mere presence affects the Ravens--his threat to run, his running AND his passing--the low-key criticism of him just rings even more hollow. He deserves to be considered a top tier QB in the league because he is a top tier QB in the league.
  2. Well that's not a surprise. It's the guy that he's wanted for more than year. Tepper's going to do whatever it takes to get his guy. The Walmart guys aren't in the market, and other owners probably aren't going to go to that exetent to get Johnson. If you're a betting man, put your money on Johnson to be the next HC.
  3. I really don't think it a going to be as easy as riding "him to the first pick in the 2025 draft," because I don't think that he's as bad as has been displayed in this clusterfug of an offense (hence the "improvement" the last couple of weeks). I think that the worst case scenario is that he plays just good enough to keep us questioning whether he's the long term answer and that we end up having to spend much-needed draft capital to move up to the number one spot just like in the last draft. That's the worst case scenario. All that being said I hope that he proves that he is unquestionably the long term answer. As to Bryce in general, I would classify my feelings about him as skeptically optimistic (which may or may not include his play the last couple of weeks) at best. For me, there are still many questions surrounding his viability as a starter. He may have played his best game (albeit in a losing effort) this past Sunday, but I am going to have to see more of this before I can turn the corner about him being for real.
  4. Yep. It's his money. I just hope that Johnson is worth the hype. If he's not, I'll likely be official full retirement age before the Panthers are worth a damn (provided that the assholes in Washington don't raise it to 70).
  5. True, but it's all about perceived value. The kid should just be happy to get an NFL head coaching gig in my opinion. What has he really proven? Now from his perspective, I can see trying to get everything you can get, but from a thoughtful owner's perspective I'm simply not going to pay that kind of money until I see some concrete results over time.
  6. Piling on in a thread that is all about low hanging fruit--the original post, akin to picking a piece of rotting fruit off the ground and attempting to feed it to others as something worth genuine discussion, is really not worth anyone's time. There are plenty of legit criticisms of Bryce Young, even maybe his TD count, but to just throw cute one-liners out into the aether without context is disingenuous at worst or ignorance at best. The truth of the viability of Bryce Young as an NFL QB still lies somewhere along the spectrum of bad to adequate to good. We'll definitively know where he lands on the target once we have different coaching, along with more talented and experienced players at some point during 2024.
  7. At the end of the day, it's all about value. If Burns wants to be paid more than he's worth, let someone else pay him. How would your pocketbook look--- your overall financial status look, if you shop at Sheetz or Walgreens every time you need groceries just because it's convenient and the only thing open?
  8. Burns is not the prototypically dominant pass rusher whose talent is hard to find, as he disappears way too much.
  9. I didn't mind taking a flyer on him, but the trade compensation alone was bad. Then it turned to horrible when we bit down on that hook.
  10. I'd need to see more under normal circumstances. I think Evero is worth his weight in gold, but at the same time I think he's going to get canned when the new HC puts his own guy in place...and I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
  11. I think that the point is that they should change their graphic to say "tickets sold" as opposed to actual attendance. It's misleading. But at the end of the day, who really cares? It was as empty a stadium as you'll ever see for an NFL game.
  12. Where did you hear that Steve Smith was either directly or indirectly responsible for the Mingo pick? I know that he liked the pick, and that he gave Mingo his stamp of approval on his podcast, but I've not heard that anyone actually solicited his advice before directly making the pick. Moreover, the fact is that the story of Mingo has only just begun. Why you guys would give up on Mingo so soon is a product of simply wanting to be overly negative because of the geneal mismanagement of the offense.
  13. And you know this how? Y'all need to calm down. Cam is a successful business man. I'm not saying that he would be successful, but he isn't, and wouldn't be, "clueless" by any stretch of the imagination.
  14. Belichick is going to go down as the best there ever was. Below average? Dude, he doesn't have a QB, or any particularly standout players on offense. Brady went into a ready-made situation. If Belichick goes into a ready-made situation, he'll likely do the same thing. That being said, we are the antithesis of a ready-made situation. I'm not worried about him coming to Carolina. At the end of the day, Bill and Tom had years of success together. You really can't separate the two.
  15. I used to have those same issues. Brave Browser honestly eliminates all that. For your convenience, just add the Carolina Huddle to your home screen. See? Some insight into top dawg.
  16. Somebody would just come up with a free site. It's a hard sale to tell me that I gotta pay to be aessage board member. The posts are largely what generates the participation and the content.
  17. That's why I haven't given up on Mingo. He deserves some blame, but, just like Bryce, he is a rookie. They don't seem to be on the same page a lot of times. That is likely a sum of the clusterfug that is our coaching. Just think: Chark looks like a shitty receiver also, but he didn't in Jacksonville or Detroit. Bryce and the receivers are obviously out of sync. The WCO is based on timing and preciseness of depth. We haven't seen either this season. It's been an awful watch.
  18. We really don't know if we'd be in a position to get Caleb Williams. I really don't think so. My guess is that we'd have a pick somewhere between 10 and 20. There's no reason to think that Dalton couldn't have played at least equal to every QB in the NFCS.
  19. No one of note, but Benjamins have a way of changing minds.
  20. Bryce was deemed a good to great prospect by many that didn't have any direct relationship to the Panthers. He played a part that is played largely every year. This is how the game is played. Tepper didn't get "duped" or "robbed," this is just par for the course. The Panthers chose the wrong one, like NFL teams do largely every year. Now we'll see if the lessons have been learned, not about choosing the wrong guy per se, but about wheeling and dealing draft capital and elite personnel willy-nilly for largely unproven guys (I don't care who they are), and the disadvantages of undersized QBs.
  21. I mean, I agree, but it's widely considered a good thing if you can hit on a couple of players during a draft. Three is really good, and four or more is phenomenal. Hurney had some decent drafts, just not exceptional ones, but most don't. Drafting is only a part of the battle though, probably the most important part, but only a part. I wasn't too enthused with his acquisitions, nor was I all that enamored with cap management duruing his tenure (whoever was handling it). He did steal Olsen though.
  22. Fitterer has really fuged up. I can't even defend him anymore. He had his shot, and he just fuged it up.
  23. What's so bad about Suleiman. To my knowledge, he has us in a pretty good position.
