  1. Honestly, with the current state of the team, that's not saying much. I'm all for keeping Burns at a price point commensurate with potential production based upon his track record.
  2. Derrick Brown should alternately tell them to kiss his keister.
  3. I disagree. I think we need to fix the O-line and upgrade some weapons. I've often said that I'd rather get veteran O-lineman in FA. That's the only way you really know what you're getting. Seasoned big uglies, and young (maybe even brash) offensive talent in the draft. The thing is, you really can't ignore the BPA and expect things to go your way very smoothly.
  4. I can't take anything from Michelle Smallmon. Sometimes she makes the most sense, but Canty is the most compelling IMO.
  5. You're right. Their absolutely is a distinction between the owner and the man---the football and everything else. I think that it's very appropriate to discuss his terrible decisions in reference to the team's play on our main board. The other stuff is more appropriate for the TB.
  6. Caping? I've called Tepper on his poo, but I'm not about to call him a POS, or anyone else, just because they had business dealings gone wrong, purposefully mispronounced a man's name or threw a drink on someone who was likely taunting. That's the problem with most dumbasses in this country, they seemingly don't know how to discriminate between bad reactions on a personal level and bad intentions on a greater social, cultural or societal level. The two aren't the same. I don't care how you try to manipulate your penchant for strawman fallacies, I'm not going to refer to Tepper as a POS, and frankly I think that it's borderline sociopathic to call a person a POS over a business dealing gone wrong, a decidedly mild response to likely being taunted or even lesser reactions. We have enough instances of real bad deeds, intentions, and results of inhumane behavior in this world to discern the true nature of true evil. And furthermore, there is literally nothing you can say to make me believe that this thread is appropriate for this forum.
  7. The Carolinas aren't actually full of classy people, far from it. So there's that. As to tearing down the house of a certified asshole that cheated people out of millions, among other bad behaviors, I could care less.
  8. I doubt I am the only one of this opinion. I've been on the Huddle circa 2003 and these kinds of threads weren't really the norm on our football forum. Furthermore, I don't think it's normal to call someone a POS for such a decidedly benign act, particularly when you don't know the full circumstances. Was it a jerk move? Sure. But throwing the term "piece of poo" around in reference to human beings is also pretty crappy, but it's indicative as to where our society is. Don't get me wrong, there are some actively terrible human beings who in my opinion should probably get that title, but Tepper isn't one of them.
  9. Uh, yeah, I got the bright idea to listen to their stream on TuneIn Radio one day. I was simply tired of listening about Carolina, NC State and the Hurricanes and wanted to hear more Panthers-related content. They did talk Panthers, but, still, I was like, "What is this shÂĄt?" Their shtick is kind of cringeworthy to be honest. I couldn't take it.
  10. You can't make the moves that Tepper has, have seen the results, and expect fans to shower you with flowers and candy.
  11. Just to add on. I'd love to be able to tear down the house of an old boss or two. That guy who owned the now nonexistent house that Tepper eventually had replaced is the real POS.
  12. No I would not. I've said it in the past that I'm generally reluctant to trade day one or even day two picks for unproven kids that haven't taken the first NFL snap. What we traded was tremendous, and one simply has to be right---not fĂșcking "convicted"---"right," when you trade so much draft capital, as well as veteran playmakers for a guy out of college. Now, I realize that sometimes you want to move up if a player you like starts falling, but that generally only costs an arm, not both arms and legs. When you made the trade that we made, you have to be "right!"
  13. I find these types of threads as unbefitting for the Huddle. It is reflective of the downgrade in serious and analytical football discussion around this place however. Just my personal opinion.
  14. We were never going to lose draft picks over this incident. Tepper was never going to be forced to sell the team over this incident. Some disgruntled Panthers fans are losing touch.
  15. If Tepper is serious about actually winning, which I believe he is, then Fitterer's days as GM are numbered. Tepper has put himself into a position where no HC that's worth a damn will give way to Fitterer (or even Tepper himself).
  16. The same Justin Fields who has been playing good football post-injury.
  17. If we had a vet (including Dalton) starting this year, we wouldn't have had the number one pick. Caleb Williams would not be in the math...unless Tepper, Fitterer and company made another stupid move like trading a bunch of draft capital for a rookie. This year's first was never in the cards for us, but it was in the cards for Chicago due to all the mis-dealing.
  18. I don't know what y'all were expecting. I said either last night or yesterday that it would be a fine.
  19. Not surprising at all. I've watched the game for a half century beginning at 6 years old at Veteran's Stadium, and I've never seen an offense as consistently ineffective or disjointed.
  20. I'm not even concerned about that. Why fans are trying to blow it up into something that is compelling enough to demand that he sell the team, I don't know...Well, that may be a lie; I do know why fans would do that: they're desperate. He has sucked so much in his hiring practices that the results have caused Tepper to meddle more and more, and now the state of the Panthers and its prospects are unpalatable. The entire situation---Tepper's reactions, our reactions, all of our reality in reference to the team---derives from frustration. Tepper and his yes-men cronies have made extremely bad decisions. Now, all that being said, Tepper has been a jerk at times---obviously tossing a drink from your box upon a guy is a bad thing to do. It can be considered assault. But still, we don't know all the circumstances. On its face, it's a jerk move. Cowardly? I don't know. But I'm not worried about it. I've had beer spilled on me before at football games from drunken, rowdy fans at Cleveland Municipal Stadium as a child. It's not the end of the world. Tepper will pay his fine(s) and move on. But... ...It is my contention that if Tepper is a coward, it's because he won't hire---hell, CONSIDER---the one guy whose ego rivals his own as the Panthers' potential fixer. Yes, I said "fixer," as the franchise is broken due to Tepper's penchant to hire losers in reference to the game and business of football. The other reason I said "fixer" is because some think that the guy would only last a few seasons. I don't necessarily think that's true, but you all know the best man for the job--the Panthers' savior---err fixer, would be: James Joseph Harbaugh.
  21. Meh. We'll use FA to patch some holes. The roster we have now, won't be the one we have at the beginning of the draft. We'll upgrade the receiving room too. I suspect they aren't as bad as has been suggested.
