  1. I don't get into the minutiae of these contractual rules, but appreciate the people that do. I learned something!
  2. But they will take contracts into consideration. That doesn't mean that it doesn't have a strong possibility of happening! Trade opportunities like this just don't come along! Of course you're going to have to give something of value to get something of value. I just think that many Huddlers just don't have any idea how to valuate the players. They act like CMC's contract is such the impediment, or they think we should give up two first round players--or more--plus multiple first round picks--and day two picks (like our players, who are on cheap contracts by the way, relatively have little value). I don't believe any of that's the case. We can make a deal if all parties involved wants a deal! No one is going to come away in the perfect situation.
  3. McNair is a lying POS, and apparently hasn't learned his lesson. I mean, he ain't gonna let the inmate rule him! He can just lie to Watson with impunity and act like everything's all good! And you're supporting that? Talking about a lack of a moral compass...
  4. Moral compass? So much for yours! This ain't the 1800s. No one can make you work if you don't want to! If you feel lied to and otherwise exploited, feel like the front office sold you a bill of goods or have acted in bad faith, or simply feel like your boss is a low-key racist motherfuger, you can quit! The Texans can't force him to do anything either!
  5. LOL @ Harden being a low character guy! He got exactly what he wanted, and anybody of import is holding it against him! The Texans' hand will be forced one way or another, and Watson will get paid by them in dead cap, AND by someone else--top dollar! That's the power of the no-trade clause!
  6. I hope he plays hardball with the Texans. Just like Harden basically manipulated the situation by half-assing it with the Rockets, Watson can do the same thing with the Texans, and it ain't really poo they can do about it. They can sit him down, but he's still going to be getting paid! They don't need those types of problems because it can screw up team morale and chemistry, and set them back even further. Their best bet is to take a reasonable deal and get out of the situation (of their making) ASAP!
  7. The plot thickens, as Fox Sports analyst Jason McIntyre has heard things... "...the Carolina Panthers are a potential player...according to Fox Sports analyst Jason McIntyre." McIntyre said Friday on Colin Cowherd's show that Watson has told those close to him that he wouldn't rule out playing for Matt Rhule in Charlotte. "While I was prepping for this segment I had somebody influential in the league text me and say the team I've heard is the Carolina Panthers, a deep sleeper for Deshaun Watson," McIntyre said. "Apparently, he is telling some folks he would not mind going home. He grew up in Atlanta, about four hours from Carolina and Matt Rhule has set up a pretty good foundation there in Carolina ... they have a lot of good offensive weapons." --Via 247 Sports via Cowherd https://www.google.com/amp/s/247sports.com/Article/Deshaun-Watson-Carolina-Panthers-Houston-Texans-trade-159762257/Amp/ Take it for what it's worth...
  8. I feel the same way, though I believe we could trade back maybe 8-10 spots if he believes we can still get our guy! I think he is kind of taking this as an opportunity that he may not have going forward! I'm thinking that we have to be getting a QB (unless we acquire Watson)!
  9. I told y'all last month that Teddy is toast. After hearing Fitt talk about his definition of a franchise QB having the ability to put the team on his shoulders and win the game in the fourth quarter, I believe it 100 percent. Teddy is like the antithesis of what Fitt's looks for in a franchise QB. Teddy's really a failure at the priority trait that Fitt wants. And, make no mistake, it is the priority because Fitt mentioned it twice!
  10. I doubt that we trade back out of the way half of the first! It sounds like Fitterer is pretty confident in his belief that pick 18 is about the very latest that teams can be sure to get an impact player.
  11. I won't be surprised, but Jones has limitations when considering the modern NFL franchise QB.
  12. He basically answered the question: "There's a little bit of walking in the door and going, 'Wow, football, the NFL,'" Tepper said. "De-mystifying it, a little bit, for myself. I was in Pittsburgh, but I wasn't making those decisions." Gantt broke it down: "Tepper has freely admitted over the years that he's learning the football industry on the fly. When he bought the team, he started with the business side of the operation because the business world was one he moved comfortably in. So that's the first thing he turned upside down and gave a good shake to. As a result, the coach and GM he inherited were left on their own for a bit, while Tepper decided what he wanted his football operation to look like." In other words, Tepper had to do a little bit of learning, reflecting, planning, then building---or rebuilding as it were---and that's where we are now!
  13. I'll be mighty surprised if we acquire Stafford. He just doesn't fit the rebuilding theme that we have going on here. He's a bridge (just not a Bridgewater)!
  14. He's gung-ho! I'm not going to criticize him just yet! Personally, I hope he works out because we need more characters in the NFL! I'm not holding my breath though. Maybe he'll be a great motivator and player's coach like Cowher, or a hard-nose like Coughlin (or perhaps a combination of the two). It'll be interesting to see.
  15. He chose the more stabile option, and the one that fit his situation a little better. He needs to learn to be a pro, not be thrust into the fire before he's ready. I'm impressed that he even realized it. Now he can sit behind Ben for at least a year and learn and hopefully grow. He has the physical tools. Now it's just a matter of getting his mind right and seeing how high his ceiling is.
  16. That he "wouldn't mind [Wilson] at 8." Simple as that!
  17. If I were them, especially Bienemy, I wouldn't touch that job with a 10 foot pole!
  18. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2926699-nick-sirianni-reportedly-hired-as-eagles-new-hc-after-stint-as-colts-oc Looks like Joe Brady ain't going anywhere this year. Maybe next year... I don't believe there are any spots left open except the Texans. Maybe we can include him in our trade package...(◠‿◕)
  19. Good for him. He needed a strong hand and a solid organization to join. Maybe Tomlin can whip him into shape. Good luck to him and all parties involved!
  20. For some reason, after reading this article I can't get The Gambler by Kenny Rogers out of my mind!
  21. I should've said "I do think we've been.. boring..." Now, the edit button is nowhere to be found! The edit button is not showing on OPs, but seems to be showing on normal posts, @Jeremy Igo
  22. Due to Scott Fitterer's history in Seattle, Fitterer will look at all avenues in order to improve the team and is not afraid to take some risks according to Dan Morgan and Jim Nagy. “If you just look at his background in Seattle, look how aggressive [general manager] John Schneider has been," Nagy said. “The mantra in Seattle is to be in every single deal." “You might not make every deal, but you want to be a part of every deal." At least we know that Fitterer will do his due diligence on Deshaun Watson (and everybody if you believe what the article intimates)! At the same time, don't expect for him to mortgage the future! And, as we've seen alluded to in another article, Fitterer is well-connected. “The Seattle process is such a collaborative effort," said Nagy, using the word (collaborative) that was so important to Carolina coach Matt Rhule in the GM search. “Scott’s gonna want to build through the draft, but there’s some guys in the league that are only connected to certain other GMs." “The good news for the Panthers is Scott is so well-connected throughout the league, they’re going to be open to 31 other teams and involved in a lot of free-agency deals." All this is welcome news to my ears. I don't think, as a franchise, we've been historically boring in the free agent and trade markets. That sounds like it's about to change. 23. You speak as though we're bereft of talent. Like Greenie says, a young QB of this caliber that hasn't even hit his prime yet doesn't happen. That being said, I'm good if it happens or not.
