You've also said that his coaches "limited" his throws and "avoided" throwing the ball, intimating that Lance was the issue! Just like at any other level of football, you do what it takes to win, and running down someone's throat is preferable every single time! For the record, I'll be content to get a potential starter. Sure, I think Lance has the highest upside, and I doubt that he's going to bust, but if we pick Wilson, Fields, or even Jones, I will trust that Rhule and company know what they're looking for and be hopeful that it all works out. Even if we don't pick a QB, I know that we will acquire one relatively soon (before Teddy's contract is up).

The Bengals seem like the most likely option to me. They will trade down a couple of spots and still get their guy. It just makes sense.

I don't agree with your boom-or-bust theory! Lance arguably has the highest upside of this class. He has strength, arm talent, good decision making, and mobility. The only things that he really needs are teaching, time and experience!

I was listening to ESPN this morning, and I heard about so many things that Stafford had to deal with that other QBs with similar QBRs did not! I can't remember them all, but he either played with 1 or 0 top 10 defenses in his career. He also only had an RB eclipse 100 yards 11 times in 12 years. Also, during that same span, the running game averaged 89 yards! And this ain't all! Basically Stafford got no help for most of his career there despite putting up high level numbers.

I told y'all a couple of times that he wasn't coming to a rebuilding team. Stafford coming to Carolina was never realistic. Fitterer is a man of his word though; we will stick our nose in every deal.

That's how I am. I see the Stafford trade as indicative of two things: 1. Fitt is making good on what he said about being in on every deal (and he said it with a straight face and with a business-as-usual type of attitude). 2. The Rams were "jobbed" by the Lions in their desperation to win a championship in the near future. We don't know where the Panthers were on the Lions-Stafford spectrum. Moreover, Rhule would not even compare Jones to the four top QBs in the draft when given the opportunity to do so. He said "I havn't studied those guys enough yet..." So, if you believe him--and he seemed to be obviously hedging a bit--there's still a lot of work to be done!

If Watson really wants to play hardball, he can do it and still get paid.

The money, and perhaps less so the length, made it a dumb deal! It wasn't as dumb as Jake's contract, but it was eyebrow-raising.

I didn't mind signing Teddy. What I did mind is the amount that we gave him! I was surprised that we gave him that much and a three-year contract. That's not a prove-it deal in my estimation. Two-year, 30 mil deal-- maybe 12 mil guaranteed the first year with 10 guaranteed the second with an option to extend, was what I was thinking. And, if he didn't take it, we'd have rolled the dice with someone else. They must have really wanted him (probably due to Brady). They got him! Now they have to deal with him.
