  1. Yeah, he was making some good plays. It's not as simple as we were getting run over...maybe.
  2. Seriously. What did I miss between this past Sunday and all the games before that? Were we just not playing this kid? We obviously need to keep him out there!
  3. Why would you expect us to play C.J. Henderson right away? You saw what happened when they tried to half-ass it out there and put him out there before he even knew the playbook. And why not get Gilmore in the building for basically nothing to see what he has? He has ties here and may just want to stay here. No one is worried about late round picks when you can deal them for potential value. So we suck now! Rebuilding on rock takes time.
  4. I would most definitely say "Marlon Mack!"
  5. I hate that we picked up that fifth year tbh. It seemed like we would've learned from the Bridgewater situation. We just don't seem to believe in vets proving that they deserve more time and money.
  6. We have had to learn to adjust. And the fact is, we shouldn't be using CMC as a crutch anyway. After this experience with him playing so little, and getting hurt (possibly from overuse), I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't overpay RBs because the nature of the position lends itself to injuries. We probably won't trade him, but we probably should. And I love CMC, but the truth is his situation is not good for a team that's rebuilding and trying to establish an offensive identity (beginning with the need for a franchise QB). He masks a multitude of sins, and we need a QB, not an RB, who is the face of the franchise.
  7. Robby doesn't normally drop passes. In 2018 on, Robby's drop percentage is lower than D.J.'s. Now this year, of course yesterday skews the stats in Moore's favor more than likely, but they've yet to be updated.
  8. Yeah, we know they had a bad day. Let's move on. It's not like it's a regularity.
  9. The thing is, Chuba can't seemingly catch a cold, and the O-line play leaves a lot to be desired, as does Sam Darnold. I don't mind emphasizing the running game--hell, that's what we were supposed to have been doing anyway--but you better know how to pass, catch and block as well, and I'm not sure we have the pieces necessary to pull it off. Honestly, we need balance. But, we're not going to have that if we keep putting ourselves in a hole.
  10. At this point, I don't even give a sh¡t. Watching PJ might be more entertaining...for pure comedic value if nothing else.
  11. We're a franchise with a relatively new staff. It was never going to be easy. They're still trying to figure it all out. Expectations shouldn't have been skyhigh in the first place. I tried to tell some of you this before the season ever started. Come on, guys. O-line. A reclamation project at QB. Keep your heads out the clouds. We have at least a year or two.
  12. I feel good about Desmond Ridder, and have mentioned him here ever since last season.
  13. Meh. He doesn't inspire any hope in me. His last drive was a great one though. They're just too far and in between.
  14. The QB situation is depressing. Darnold is not the answer, and neither is Cam.
  15. I just said it in another thread that I don't think it's in Darnold's DNA to be a franchise QB. He's an OK game manager to drop into a good enough team, but that's about it. I don't know why we exercised his option. It seems like we always jump the gun with these suspect QBs--that is, we give them an extra year too long as opposed to letting them play for an extension.
  16. I generally have a wait and see attitude, but I probably should've listened to the Darnold detractors. I think his ceiling is great game manager. He's certainly not what I consider a franchise QB. I don't believe it's in his DNA to put a team on his back and lead the team to victory.
  17. It's certainly as frustrating a situation as I've seen. It's a clusterfu<k of fu<k.
  18. Robby hasn't played well today. No, the interception was not on him, it was on Darnold. Don't be ridiculous. Yes, maybe he could be traded, and, yes, someone would take him with the relatively cheap contract. Don't be dumb! Even though he hasn't had a good game--poo happens--responses in this thread are stupid. I am all for benching vets that aren't getting it done, but you have to have realistic alternatives.
  19. Random guy to you, anchor to us in the heart of Carolina.
  20. Chris Lea is right on target with his analysis of the Panthers' offensive woes. Sure the O-line and Darnold have left a lot to be desired, and sure there's no CMC, and Robby could perhaps play better, but a big problem of our offensive woes is Joe Brady. "Right now the Panthers are the worst team in league when it comes to scoring in the 3rd quarter at 1.4 points per game in the period after the half. That's actually worse than last year when the team famously came out flat week-after-week, averaging 3.6 points per game in the 3rd. Last year is not an aberration since the trend is continuing in 2021 five games into the season. These 3rd quarter numbers and Robby Anderson's complaint has one common denominator: Offensive Coordinator Joe Brady. He's clearly not calling a game plan sans McCaffrey that's keeping defenses on their toes. Plus, if defenders are figuring out plays by the second half and those plays continue to be called, Brady is not making any adjustments in game - or at least not enough noticeable adjustments." https://www.wralsportsfan.com/lea-panthers-offensive-problems-go-beyond-o-line-darnold/19926478/ It's like I said in another thread. Brady can talk about execution all he wants, but good OCs put their players in the best position to successfully execute. Certainly if things don't seem to be working on game days, you have to be able to make adjustments, not keep doing the same thing over and over again. I agree that you keep doing the things that bring success. Run until they stop you, pass when necessary, max protect when necessary...but It's time to be a little more open-minded as well when things are going south. It may also be time to get Shi and even Terrace more involved. Double moves, quick slants, draw plays--something.
