  1. I guess several NFL types--analysts, players--clowning the Panthers HC doesn't kind of hint that he said too much. Those little gems just flew over your head. Gimme a break!
  2. Hell, we don't even know that because Rhule decided that it was more important to play scrubs in meaningless games than to get rookies in to see what they have during live fire.
  3. Not if he's going to spout foolishness. If he is, he should keep his damned mouth shut.
  4. All he had to say is, "We think Jaycee Horn will be pretty good too. He was doing pretty well before injury derailed his season."
  5. Proverbs 17:28 New International Version Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.
  6. Some things just shouldn't be said. Take a page from the GOAT's book and say as little as possible. Yes, that would've been more prudent. Rhule talks too damned much.
  7. Slater was top 10 on most big boards. He was ranked higher by more analysts.
  8. You're assuming that Horn was the higher rated player. I assure you, he may have been rated higher on our board, but not across the board. Slater was probably ranked higher on most big boards (and that was for a reason). When we skipped over Fields, I thought we were going to trade down or pick Slater. Horn wasn't even the highest rated corner on probably most boards. Some of us have been pleading to get an OT for years. It's cool though. We missed out on what looks like a great one. As a Panthers fan, it's just par for the course. I think it's pretty much accepted as to which one has more positional value. We missed out because of Rhule's cookie cutter thinking.
  9. Good saying. Let me add in something in light of Matt Rhule: The enemy of good is also versatility.
  10. The O-line should've been the priority. I get that some people questioned Slater's projected ability in the league regarding OT, but many did not! Many considered him the more sure NFL-ready OT. As crappy as our line was on paper, investing in Slater was very rational (if not the play). Looking at how Slater has actually panned out, and how Rhule tries to downplay his skill after the fact is clownish.
  11. He didn't trash him, but he intimated that he was better than advertised because of Herbert's mobility. That's a bad look into itself, but he threw it out there after a somewhat weak attempt to rationalize his whiff. It was clownish. I'd respect Rhule more if he admitted his mistakes as opposed to trying to justify everything. He talks as though he's some accomplished head coach in the league that everyone should listen to because he's that guy. I don't see any humility in this guy, and that's a problem for a coach that ain't done poo except make a lot of questionable if not outright bad decisions.
  12. Yeah, just let him damage the team and its reputation one more year. That won't hurt anything...
  13. Rhule is a damned fool. He should not be allowed to evaluate O-linemen. He doesn't know how. He has these...ideas in his mind. His approach to evaluation is dogmatic at best and sheer buffoonery at worst.
  14. Rhule, Tepper and Fitterer got got by the Jets. One, two, or all of them (because Rhule said that it was a collective agreement) made the situation exponentially worse by exercising the 5th year option. I'd respect them more if they just admitted that they fu<ked up!
  15. Well, I said that I didn't like it. A 2nd round pick is valuable in and of itself. Trying to justify it by rationalizing that "we might have found a franchise QB" is glossing over the fact that a second round draft pick is not to be gambled with willy-nilly.
  16. It's been hours now, and no thread. "The Carolina Panthers have interviewed Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and Indianapolis Colts wide receivers coach Mike Groh for their vacant offensive coordinator position, according to a person familiar with the situation." https://www.wralsportsfan.com/ap-source-panthers-talk-to-kubiak-groh-about-oc-vacancy/20075407/
  17. John Mara made statements during his heavily limited presser as well. He knows he's lost trust with the fans, but plans to win it back.
  18. That's simply unprofessional, but I'm not surprised.
  19. As far as the second question, Maybe with better personnel, we'd get better execution. I'm not saying that I believe this, I'm just throwing it out there. There are other issues like personnel evaluation--post acquisition--and in-game decisions, half-time adjustments and situational play calling that may be even a bigger impediment to Rhule being a successful NFL coach.
  20. Tepper has enabled Rhule to turn the Panthers franchise into a farce. We are bottom of the barrel, right along with the Jets, Jags, and the Giants (who soundly whipped out ass with third string WRs and RBs). We are a joke! I'm embarrassed to wear my gear, and I look at all the other Panthers sh¡t I have and wonder where it all went wrong. I even saw my Panthers sign on the ground this morning, and just left it there.
  21. This is brutal and reflects every bit of the failure that we've seen on game days. I wonder what third down efficiency looks like on both sides of the ball.
  22. He has an obligation to Panthers fans if he expects to keep any.
  23. I don't know that people are upset due to Blackburn's firing in and of itself. I think people are more upset because Rhule--who essentially did a worse job, and is responsible for the entire clusterfug of a season--is firing fall guys as opposed to being fired himself. As for Blackburn's work, I think that it's a little harder for the average person to evaluate ST play (as compared to offense and defense) from an analytical standpoint. And, you're right, maybe his resume is meh.
