TbT... Why couldn't he leave the burgers alone!!
top dawg replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Not saying that he was or wasn't helpful to younger receivers, but he certainly got on Jarrett for not doing his job. -
As usual this time of year, some of you act like franchise QBs fall off trees, and in some sense you act like these guys are interchangeable. They're not. Sure, you can play games and risk that someone else will swoosh in and choose your guy out from under you, but I would say in general that if you think that a particular guy is a legit franchise QB, you go get him, regardless of the pick.
-
Some of them didn't. Some of them did. That's just the reality. In any event, "Commanders" is lame. There are so many better names than both.

For a player they want that they believe will be gone by the time they're on the clock. It happens basically every draft. -
But now there are Dolphins rumors.

Rhule apparently getting a mulligan. He's doing things he should've done in the beginning: hire guys that know what they're doing.

Being aggressive in free agency and trades wins.

True, but what do most people think that Leonard Floyd, Von Miller and Aaron Darnold are going to do to the Bengals O-line? And when they put Burrow in a burrow, this won't be a case of Tennessee and Tannehill making dumb mistakes. -
What is Rhule going to give up for Jimmy G?

Shcefty just said this morning that the 49ers still believe Lance is going to be special. -

I don't think so either, but I hope we're both wrong. I really do hope Rhule gets the last laugh, but that appears highly delusional. I'm still hoping for the best though. -
I'm not going to blame Bienemy. He didn't make Mahomes throw two picks, and neither did he make the decision to not kick the field goal. That loss was not on him, it was on Mahomes and Reid. Mahomes needs to stop trying to win the game all at once, and take the underneath throws that the defense is giving him.

The fact is, when the Rams win it all, neither their FO or their fans are going to be crying about salary cap or lack of picks. They're not going to give a sh¡t. It's a cost of doing business. It seems like some of you don't realize that all that sh¡t is cyclical. The draft and free agency comes every year. Masterful FO's and coaches know how to effectively negotiate the curves and turns of the team building journey, that essentially happens every season, to stay competitive particularly for the long term. I keep telling y'all that there's more than one way to build a championship team. Sometimes you have to think outside the box, but you always should be considering all the puzzle pieces that you have and adapting in order to make it all work. There will always be more draft picks and free agents, as windows close and open. -
All you build-through-draft-people better hope that the Rams lose, and all you O-line-before-everything people better hope that Cincy loses, and all the Watson haters better hope he's adjudicated guilty, because ironically, I think that all of the events of the weekend mean that we're going all-in on Watson, unless he's behind bars. The common denominator is a franchise QB, and there will be one available that you don't have to guess about or throw darts at a board hoping that you hit the bullseye.

There's more than one way to build a championship contender. But the overwhelming odds say that you aren't going to be one without a franchise QB. You either draft for one or trade for one; either way is good. -
The bros, maybe. But I know plenty of Bulldogs fans in the ATL. I went to school with some of them.
-
I don't think the story has been written for either of them, but one position is sexy, and one isn't. It's too easy to say Chase is better than Sewell based on their position. But, regardless of positional need, Sewell was considered the better player on most big boards.
-
Sewell was considered the BPA.

fug the Bengals! Go Dawgs! Matthew Stafford FTW!

I'm not surprised. Rhule might not how to manipulate his personnel on game days to put the team or the individual in the best position to succeed, but he's drafted some quality players. Maybe when he considers free agency, he should be more wise about believing someone's track record, as opposed to thinking he's going to make chicken salad out of chicken sh!t and paying handsomely for more helpings before be even samples it.
-
Damning? Eh, maybe. I think it's really expected considering the state of the franchise--with Matt Rhule fuging it up, and firing fall guys (not that they didn't deserve it), and the fact that we don't have a franchise QB. There is no security here at the moment, and there's every reason to believe it's a lame duck year for Panthers coaches.

'20 Cam vs. '21 Garoppolo (and '19) (+ a Darnold tidbit)
top dawg replied to Dory's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just read yesterday that we'll be all-in on Watson once things heat up. I'm not saying we'll get him, but I damn sure believe our eyes are still on the situation. -

Banging the table? Not really happening. But some of you are acting like corners no longer matter in the modern NFL being that "the league has shifted." That's counterintuitive as far as I'm concerned. We might as well throw anybody back there and let teams run 50 points on us every week. Corners are still necessary, and shutdown corners are even more valuable due to the league being what it is. Football is the ultimate team sport, and I will never cosign skipping over a player who's markedly better than what's left just because what's left is a perceived need. That's not how you ultimately build contenders. Now if players are close, I might justify it. If you can get fair compensation in a trade down in a year when you need picks, that would make sense. But you don't give players away, and you don't throw a pick away on a bad deal. -

top dawg replied to Dory's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sorry. I love Cam. I really do. But a QB's main job is to pass, and Cam can't do that as effectively as Jimmy G, and (even less so as compared to Derek Carr). It's unfortunate for many reasons. -
Albert Breer on the Panthers quarterback options
top dawg replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
That thread really doesn't disprove anything if you're honest with yourself. Cam threw for more than 2800 yards and only 8 TDs with 10 INTs. His completion percentage was 65.8 with a passer rating of 82.9. Garropolo threw for more than 3800 yards with 20 TDs and 12 INTs. His completion percentage was 68.3 with a passer rating of 99.6 (regular season). Now I'm sure if we get into some more advanced metrics, it will make for even more of a stark difference. Of course Cam can run, which is a plus, but a QB's main job is to pass, and unfortunately Cam's passing hasn't been great ever since his shoulder injury. I like Cam and respect everything he did for the franchise, but if he can't play any better than he did in 2020, much less 2021, then he can no longer be a legit QB1.
