Most teams lose because they don't know why they lost.
top dawg replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Damn! I've been avoiding this thread for hours because of the title. You could've floored me when I realized it was Zod's. -
Probably a smokescreen. But, we shall see.

He's the one dude "heard the most buzz about", but nothing is hardly see in stone.
-
Eh. The part that most excites me is that they don't want to get fleeced on a Garropolo or Mayfield trade. That's music to my ears. They're actually learning.

Rhule says giving CMC fewer reps at RB diminishes his value
top dawg replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
No it's not. -
Matt Rhule dresses like a goddamn slob

I don't think any one of them will be on the GQ cover any time soon. Just saying. -
Stopping because it was causing you problems, and stopping because it is a problem are two totally different things. I have never been an alcoholic, but when I was in school I drank quite a bit and was told that I had a problem. Well, as a sophomore, I reflected upon it. By the time was an upperclassman, I would still drink on occasion, I just wouldn't abuse it. That's how I have rolled for more than three decades. We don't all mature at the same time or about the same things. Anyone who doesn't understand that fact is either woefully ignorant, wilfully provocative, simpleminded or just plain stupid.

updated NFL unit grades for all teams
top dawg replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'll just wait and see. It's hard to predict rankings at this point in the process. Like is customary, we really won't know what type of team we have until some time in October. If we're rolling with Darnold, we'll probably suck though. That's about as much as I can halfway commit to at this point. I will keep overall expectations pretty low though. -
I've seen Cross projected in the 20s, and with some of the deficiencies I've seen from profiles, the 20s is probably about right.

"Triggered" is a wee bit hyperbolic. Perhaps I could have used a more politically correct phrase than "beginning to sound like mouth breathers", I'll admit, but I stand by the fact that nobody ultimately knows which off these QBs will be the best, or how they'll compare to other players at other positions in this draft. Within the discussion of football, there is also a place for moderation (excuse, the pun). I don't mind differing opinions at all, but I believe that people should actually base those differing opinions on something, and realize (not necessarily acknowledge) that it is an opinion and deliver it as such.
-
Some of you just seem like mouth breathers at this point. You don't have any idea who or how many QBs in this class will become legitimate starters. Gotdamn, you know more than the scouts! Assuming that Willis or Pickett will outdo one another, much less the enigmatic Corral is a lesson in foolishness. Things never ever play out from a draft as the consensus view from NFL FOs, much less the way some fans believe it will all go down.

At this point, I think you're just being cynical to be cynical. Every move that has been made and will be made by anyone in the organization is bad. All the kids acquired last year are a waste, as are all the kids in this year's draft, especially the QB--or unless they're an O-lineman. Your'e something akin to football's version of Miss Cleo, right? Unless the Panthers FO has angered the football gods--upset the fabric of the universe by its very existence--and been handed down a sentence of being the perpetual victims of Murphy's law, it never EVER works out like you are suggesting. Some of the additions made last year, whether on the field or the sidelines will finally bear fruit, and at least one of the QB prospects in the 2022 draft will ultimately become a legitimate starter in the NFL, not to mention all of the other prospects at other positions, not only a few of the O-lineman. That's how this thing always works.

Anthony Rizzuti of Panthers Wire gives us a PFF perspective on the effectiveness of Scott Fitterer's draft day trades, and so far Fritter has done an outstanding job (albeit in only one draft sample). “Fitterer benefits from only having one draft in the sample, but it was a strong draft from a trade perspective,” PFF’s Conor McQuiston writes of the Carolina shot-caller. “He only traded up once and lost an inconsequential amount of value that he later made up in a terrific trade down with Houston. While it is unlikely he will trade this well every year, it is an encouraging sign nonetheless for Panthers fans.” https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2022/03/26/pff-panthers-gm-scott-fitterer-draft-trades/ Honestly, though it's only one draft, in that one draft he traded about as much as some have in total since 2017. It just may be harbinger of good things to come. It's a good thing considering the way he got "jobbed" in the Darnold trade. He had to make up for it. Now I'd like to believe he's learned from that mistake. It's a long offseason, but not doing anything stupid for Garropolo or Mayfield thus far is a good start. If we can get ahead of the pack as opposed to having to dig out of a hole at the start of the race, then we can make better strides. I realize that some of you are skeptical of our overall moves last draft, but I believe that with time and proper development and management of personnel, you'll see that the Panthers GM is better than you think.

Baker Mayfield has thrown more interceptions than any QB since he has been in the league. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-interceptions-by-a-qb-since-2018#:~:text=Since 2018%2C Baker Mayfield has,a quarterback%2C with 56 interceptions. Mayfield was supposed to take strides in 2021. He went backwards. You may put it on injury, but he chose to play. "Instead of a career year — or perhaps a modest regression after the league adjusted to Stefanski’s scheme and style in Cleveland — the wheels completely fell off. Mayfield ranked 27th in the NFL in QBR (35.3) in 2021 and 29th in off-target throw percentage (19 percent), according to ESPN’s Stats & Information Group; he set a career high in sacks with 43, good for 28th in the league; he was 24th in the league in yards per dropback (5.93), sandwiched between Daniel Jones and Davis Mills; he was 27th in Next Gen Stats’ completion percentage over expected (-3.5 percent); and Pro Football Focus graded him as the 27th best passer in the league (62.4 passing grade)." https://www.google.com/amp/s/fivethirtyeight.com/features/when-should-you-break-up-with-a-quarterback-asking-for-the-cleveland-browns/amp/ Mayfield is poo--the anti-Brady--in close games during crunch time. https://www.brownsnation.com/baker-mayfield-has-disturbing-stat-in-4th-quarter-of-close-games/ There are reasons why Mayfield is out of a job and no one is rushing to give him one. Key metrics says he's basically JAG since he's been in the NFL. His passer rating is not great, and his QBR is simply bad since he became a pro. So before you call the Baker "hate" on this board "stupid AF", you must understand the total Mayfield experience (and I didn't even get into his cringe-worthy leadership...). I don't mind bringing Baker in, but it would have to be no more than a fourth, just like I thought for Darnold (or a third, plus Darnold). Mayfield hasn't proven to have the ability to lift up a team; he's arguably proven to drag a good team down with uninspired play.

Come on Juan. Was it too much to add "to Chiefs" in the title? Carter was a disappointment. So I say, "Good luck, but good riddance!"
-
I understand that you don't want him (I'm iffy, myself), but let's not outright lie. This far, he's absolutely been top 10.

Chris Simms top QB is Matt Corral and why you should listen
top dawg replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
High school transgressions? Come on. The Lane Kiffen stuff is a little weak, just saying. The large majority of QBs must make a fairly steep transition to the NFL. He has proven to be coachable, and that's why he improved over time. -
Corral is better than Willis and Pickett. This will show through. All the doubters will have to face this truth.
-
That's just a matter of being smart. Corral is teachable. I don't believe for a moment that he won't learn how to slide and get down.
-
Their receiving corps will be problematic, especially if they draft London. They ain't playing around.
-
Kinda cheap. I was expecting the four. Oh, well. Guess Hill wants longer money than the Chiefs wanted to divvy up.
