If this doesn’t get you excited about Matt Corral, nothing will
top dawg replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Come on, man, he was never on drugs. The media obviously has gone way overboard with the alcohol stuff also. Panthers fans don't need to be the source of disinformation (even in jest). It's in poor taste at best.- 145 replies

Oh! Now power rankings matter.

Peter King says maybe Brees to Panthers?????

The most embarrassing part? I don't know about that. -
Is the "Legion of Boom" approach obsolete?
top dawg replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, I get what a few of you are saying, but what you're not mentioning here is that a lack of quality personnel and/or experience makes a HUGE difference on the line and in the secondary (just in general, and in reference to any newer machinations of a Legion Of Boom type defense). Between that and injury, our defense kinda crumbled, particularly on third downs. With improvement in personnel, more experience in Snow's defense, more experience by Snow himself, more depth in case of injury, a little luck with injuries, and the ability to get off the field on third downs, our defense can be legit overall this season and not just the 2021 version based on inconsistency and what I'll call ghost stats based largely on just yards. -
Being that he'll be on the bench, I can see that.

Night and day between Panther and Canes home games
top dawg replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Damn! The game already happened. I thought the game would be this evening. By the skin of their teeth too. I know it was a good one. Glad they won in the end. -
I will be patient with Tepper and Rhule. That's about it. I have said and will say again that I couldn't reconcile firing him after this season once Tepper made the decision to keep him. It had to be until at least through 2023 provided that we show modest improvement. You can't let a dude destroy your draft trying to keep his job. What people don't want to reconcile with the facts is that though decisions that have been made have been largely a failure, they have been made by a few guys who were still trying to get their feet up under them. Tepper, Rhule, Snow and even Fittererer in a few respects had to get their feet up under them and learn each other and develop realistic plans and expectations within the context of the pro game, and within a realistic timeframe. Now with this offseason, we're finally seeing evidence of that, and not the inexperienced bungling, seemingly harried and impatient approach of Rhule's first two seasons. No doubt that they've had some frank conversations once last season was done. Now we're getting down to the nitty-gritty since they've decided to try and build a winning culture on a foundation of rock as opposed to sand. As a result we should see some improvement in the product on the field this coming season. Mind you, it may not result in a winning season, but we'll see marked improvement.

I don't know what's going going on with the dirty hat look...

It's going to take a little time for the QBs and WRs to develop chemistry. That can't be overstated.

I've said it all along. But I realize that time will tell, that's why I've beat the drum relatively softly. Say what you want; It's only a matter of time.

We have a pretty difficult schedule, but I still can't bring myself to be so negative this time of year. Some of you act like we haven't made any moves to improve at all. I am genuinely glad that I don't see what you see, because if I did, I just would skip football or start rooting for another franchise. Keep pounding and eventually the door will open. I'm looking forward to at least cracking it in 2022 with actual competitive play and nothing less than an eight win season.

In my opinion, hardcore fans of a team always have more understanding of the dynamics of their team than national talking heads. I'd rather have fans' perspectives any day of the week. Where the talking heads may have it over the fans is specific insider information (but you even have to take that with a grain of salt depending on the source).

What 2nd year Player are you most excited about?
top dawg replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rhule played rookies that first year because he had to. Last year, he had a case of Rivera-itis and it was mainly due to injury why some rookies got so much time. -
No one knows which questions are going to be on the Wonderlic, and at the end of the day it's obviously not that serious.
-
Corral has an extremely quick release, can make all the throws, has legit mobility, and has shown to be a legit playmaker off script. I certainly think that he can be decent, and if he can master the plays and protects the ball, I think he can be great. This isn't a case of playing against a bunch of nobodies, Corral had to compete in the SEC.
-
Well, you're probably right and Corral was full of it, though the Wonderlic still apparently misses the mark if you look at some of the QBs who scored similarly. https://fansided.com/2022/04/28/matt-corral-explains-wonderlic-test-nfl-draft/
-
Well actually he said he probably didn't fill it out right. If you skip one and don't come back to it, all the ones after it are counted wrong is what I read. That's a dumb way to grade a test.

So close, yet so far.

If a city offers a new stadium and training facility...
top dawg replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know, but SLC is a stone's throw from mountains, and the only way to avoid them is by going south (or southwest) through the desert towards Nevada. Like you said, it's in a beautifully geographic area. I've driven I-15 from SLC to Vegas. -
Yeah, I think it's a little preposterous to think that McAdoo isn't going to install at least some variation of his offense from the start, the training wheels will be pulled off in relatively short order. As a seasoned vet, Darnold is going to be expected to learn it, execute it, and ultimately master it by September. He better because Corral will be gunning for the job from the very beginning.

There's beauty in the desert also. -

I rolled through there back in '97 on I-80. I was surprised that it had a smooth jazz radio station at the time. That spoke to me as it being a modern city. It's a beautiful city. As far as the NFL, it's a smaller market and the powers-that-be and general populace are not likely to support a taxpayer-funded stadium in any shape, fashion or form.
