Previous Game is Under Review - Panthers (Week 3 - Saints)
top dawg replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
Of course Baker is in the fire, but it looks like he had options on several of these. I really only see one pic where everyone was locked up. Not trying to be funny, but he probably couldn't see Tremble. Or, he was only locking to one side of the field (which he tends to do as Kurt Warner suggested). -
Kind of a dumb, nonsensical response. But, whatever...When CMC gets hurt again, he'll be like "Injuries are a part of the game. It kind of is.what it is." It is what is, until it's not.
-
I agree with that. It would seem that it would be obvious to run the power back on short yardage runs, but Rhule has never done it, which is kinda weird.
-
At the moment, I'm still worried that Rhule ain't going anywhere, so I have to kinda project into the future, which makes this seem way closer to fantasy than reality.
-
At the same time, he is not starting material. It kills me that Huddlers seem to want to make other teams' rejects and make them legit starters. I'm not saying he isn't a good backup to have, but he's largely a one-cut power back with no speed. Now I'm no Chuba fan because of his oven mitts, but he is arguably more dynamic of a runner, if nothing else for his speed. I tried to tell people that he was our main backup behind CMC, but people didn't want to listen. If Chuba could ever learn to catch, he's more than JAG.

Has the Laviska Shenault Jr trade already paid for itself?

Baker's total ineptness so far has fuged me up with Robbie. -

Not trying to jack the thread, but seeing is believing...my problem. Because we have three WR spots, atwo TE spots and a flex WR/TE spot, the waiver wire is brutal. I just have to make dart throws. I have two spots to fill. I can do Logan Thomas if I have to in the flex, but that still leaves only Hill and Pickens, with one spot to fill. -

Or one thin due to injury (look up a couple of posts). LOL -

Michael Thomas and Chris Godwin are highly questionable. Sammy Watkins is on IR and Nuk is suspended. I only have 3 healthy receivers and Robbie is one of them (SMDH). Tyreek Hill is the only halfway valid receiver I have. George Pickens is a prayer. I'm dropping Breshad Perriman and might drop Robbie. I'm scouring the wire of course. LOL -

Should I pick him up in fantasy as a fill-in? -

No, but you guys trying to act like that's all on Robbie are off base. He didn't forget how to play when he moved to Charlotte. As a matter of fact, his career was rather remarkable until he got here and absorbed in the suckage. He'd have been better off going somewhere else, and we could have easily just had a bunch of retreads on our WR corps for all the good the OCs (and QBs really) have been during the Rhule era. -

Ellis Williams Report Card from Sunday

Darnold didn't have any problems moving the ball down the field with the same receiving corps (even less). Darnold got locked down near/in the red zone. -

Robbie was the one that had the key block that allowed Shenault to go all the way. -

If Robbie sucks, then DJ sucks. He's supposed to be our number one option. Shenault is a role player, with great potential as a mismatch if used properly. He isn't a go-to receiver. -
I seriously doubt that's true. I've seen Baker miss wide open receivers.

Who was talking sh¡t about Ickey in reference to Neal?
top dawg replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some idiot, in their zest to dog out every single thing that Rhule and/or Fitterer does, was saying how we should've drafted Neal based on a couple of games, and insinuated that Ickey was indeed a bust. I forgot who it was, and we've had so much of that going on... -
You have to give these kids time. But, Neal got just straight up abused last night. Keep Ickey out your mouth, dude. He's going to be good one day.

That's a different angle that I have never thought about, so kudos to you for the food for thought. I'm going to take it a step further: maybe it's not just a psychological thing; perhaps Baker's shoulder injury, non-throwing shoulder or not has had an irreparable effect upon the way he throws the ball--in other words, his accuracy. Perhaps farfetched, but maybe not. In any event, the injury could be in his head as you suggested, which for all intents and purposes may lead to the same lack of good results.

The Previous Game is Under Review- Any Specific Requests?
top dawg replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, I mentioned you already. I want to know if DJ is getting the bulk of the attention in the receiving corps. My thing is that even of he is, he still is not playing to the level of other true ones, but I don't really see him getting all this attention. I saw Robbie pull an effective triple team last game which opened up the end zone for DJ. Is Baker just missing the reads? It just doesn't seem like he'saxomizing the skill sets of his receivers NY throwing the ball in the available windows that would maximize their production. -
His stats pretty much sucked, even with the big catch and run from Shenault. I just don't see what you saw. It was a bad performance with no redeemable value. The only real plus is that he didn't throw an interception (which is kind of a low bar that was set up by Darnold's suckage last season).

And to think that a lot of Huddlers thought that Rhule's handling--mishandling of Matt Corral's development was a reasonable course of action. It wasn't. He never seriously got the kid involved, treating him like an afterthought, and put him behind a sieve of an O-line and said in so many words that Corral had to make lemonade out of lemons. The way Rhule treated Corral was stupid! Huddlers took Baker and Corral--in a different way of course--for granted. At this point, Darnold might give us more spark than Baker, and I never thought that I or anyone would say that. Baker seems smaller, in all respects, than I ever thought was possible.

I mean, Rex isn't wrong. I'm going to be honest: I thought Baker would be better. I expected him to be at least a competent game manager, but he looks lost out there. All of the criticisms of Mayfield like his spotty accuracy (particularly on those midrange second level passes), and his inability to read the entire field (as was basically suggested by Kurt Warner when he said Baker is best when he only has to read half the field), have been on full display. Add in his timing issues, failure to step into the pocket, what I'll call inefficient mobility, and his lackluster athleticism, and I just don't see him being anyone's answer at starting QB. And, honestly, he hasn't shown to be worth the conditional draft pick that we'd have to give up if he reaches whatever threshold of snaps he has to meet. He's playing uninspired football, and I don't even know if he has the ability to put a team on his back (he surely hasn't shown it against what in reality are suspect teams, and I doubt that he will against top tier teams). He's been horrible to be honest. No swag whatsoever. He just looks bewildered. I really wouldn't have believed that he'd be this bad if you'd have asked me a month ago. He isn't our answer.
