It's going to be more than one.

Pretty obvious, right? Credit Anthony Rizzuti of bringing Cam Jackson to our attention (a.k.a. Anthony Richardson) “I started calling myself Cam Jackson in 11th grade,” he said. “Just trying to make big plays, just like Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson.” CJ met with the Panthers a couple of days ago. "General manager Scott Fitterer also had a positive review about the meeting, stating on Wednesday that Richardson was 'really good' and is 'much further ahead mentally' in terms of processing than some may believe." Of course the processing part is positive spin, but I'm really concerned about his accuracy and actual mental progressions when the pressure is on in the pocket. Cam Jackson will have to step up his game to be in the same conversation as Newton and Lamar. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/03/nfl-draft-combine-anthony-richardson-cam-newton-lamar-jackson-panthers/

We've discussed him a little bit. Hell they've met with him. I think it was D. Jeremiah that said he wouldn't be surprised if Hooker turns out to have the best career of any QB in the class. It's all about value, belief and the poker game that's the draft. If they decide to take him day 2, I'll be good with it. If they think they can get him day 3, them of course a day 2 pick would be a waste. There are things to like about his game. He was perhaps the safest pick before injury. He could turn out to be the best value of the draft depending upon how things fall. He is injured though, so he could turn out not to be a value at all if he turns out to be injury prone (especially regarding that knee).

Panthers Scouting Assistant is Mike Trgovac's...
top dawg replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
My son would likely agree. Pretty, smart and knows football, that's like a 12 out of 10. -
I don't watch NFL Network. ESPN is superior... Seriously though, if they are paying more, that's not necessarily indicative of a well-run team, even if they aren't cheap. You gotta be smart. They gambled, now they're going to pay one way or another. Plus, it sounds like DeCosta is kinda making excuses for not drafting well enough, while Bateman is saying that players aren't being put in the best position to succeed. So there is a disconnect between the staff and players somewhere.

I know the feeling.

Just say what you have to say in a nice way.

Yeah, the Ravens are fuging up. I've heard several talking heads at different times talking about how they have screwed up the Lamar Jackson situation, and unlike others I agree. Rashod Bateman ain't trying to hear Eric DeCosta's poo, even if he played nice and deleted his tweet. "how bout you play to your player's strength and & stop pointing the finger at us and #8," Bateman wrote, while also referencing quarterback Lamar Jackson, "blame the one you let do this…. we take heat 24/7. & keep us healthy … care about US & see what happen..ain't no promises tho … tired of y'all lyin and capn on players for no reason." https://www.nfl.com/news/ravens-rashod-bateman-s-responds-to-eric-decosta-admitting-wr-woes-stop-pointing B-more may have been one of the best run franchises under Ozzie Newsome, but now you have to question if they're a model to be copied in a "copycat league."

Jalen Carter may be dropping after this
top dawg replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I actually asked for clarification, which you gave. You really have to in this place being that some tend to be so judgmental about certain things and not others. From my understanding from listening to ESPN, the normal punishment for this situation is a fine (max $1000) and probation. Yes, he was extremely stupid, but so are a lot of kids. I think that you have to judge a person's overall character and not draw a conclusion based upon a night of stupidity that ended badly for another person that directly caused their own death. I'm not saying whether Carter has been an angel or an imp coming up, I'm saying that sometimes decent people do stupid things, especially young and dumb adults. -
Yeah, I just don't see us signing Carr and spending that amount of draft capital to move up---not the way Fitt was talking. If we acquire Carr, I think that it's much more likely that we draft a WR or TE high...maybe an LB.

So, what are you saying? Should he pay for the rest of his life including jail time and be banned from the NFL? -

Alcohol stays in the system longer than that, and from what I heard on ESPN, he returned to the scene after a couple of hours. -
Funny that I don't remember a Bridgewater, Darnold, or Mayfield Watch thread. That's the kind of thread for when something is near imminent. I'm not into clowning reporters, but That's just me. I could've clowned Nolan Nawrocki when you were holding him up in such high esteem when he reported an incredible character assassination of Cam Newton, but I chose serious rebuttals. Just saying.

One thing that we may have learned (confirmed, or already knew) is that the collaboration circle is pretty much Reich, Fitt, the Teppers, Morgan and Samir.
-
From listening to the actual presser, you're spot on.
-
It's better than a "Carr Watch" thread, that's for damned sure.
-
The biggest thing I got from actually listening to both pressers is that "all options are on the table" at QB. They're not trying to "patch" the position. They want long term stability. Like I've been saying, they aren't going to be willy-nilly with resources as confirmed by Fitterer. Also, confirmed by Fitterer, as I've been saying, if you move up in the draft to get a guy, "you better be right." You better have some "conviction."
-
I haven't had time to listen to the presser, but Rimmer sounds like he's purely speculating. Excerpts here:https://www.panthers.com/news/live-updates-from-wednesday-action-at-the-nfl-combine-2023

Huddlers seem to be zeroing in on the David Carr or Sam Darnold parts of David Newton's tweet, but neither one bothers me. It's always been about value as far as I'm concerned. David Tepper emphasized that we needed to be smarter with our resources. I don't believe that we're going to win any Carr battle based on that alone, and we may not end up with Darnold if the market gets too stupid, but it's all about the money, and I could see Darnold being a better value than Carr in their respective roles (one a starter, and one a bridge starter or legit backup). All that being said, we are obviously surveying the scrap heap for possible treasure---you know, the "one man's thrash thing, giving serious thought to the draft prospects of course, and keeping Matt Corral in our hearts and minds. Some may not like the tweet, and hope that Newton is full of poo, but it's actually music to my ears. And one more thing: Gardner Minshew, come on down!
