  1. They must really love Burns. He needs to turn it up in the 3-4 this year, otherwise I'ma talk pure sh¡t about Fitt.
  2. I told y'all last week that if we traded to one, it would be for Bryce Young.
  3. The 9th 61st, 2024 1st, 2025 2nd & DJ. Not as bad as it could've been I suppose.
  4. So true. Honestly, I don't know who they should draft, but I know they had better be right, especially if they move up. And I'm not even necessarily saying they have to get the best guy, but the pick had better be able to lead a football team...on the field.
  5. That's close to charlatans too. Maybe closer! I'll see myself out.
  6. Well, I've always said that trading to three only makes sense if you're willing to draft either-or. I forgot to mention that Kunkel's thinking kinda falls in line with Person's thinking also on liking AR, but not enough to spend our top 10 draft capital to draft him.
  7. According to Anthony Rizzuti, Will Kunkel of Queen City News says that he believes that we are only "seriously interested" in three of the four top QB prospects in this year's draft (spoiler: and AR15 ain't one of them). "Will Kunkel of FOX Charlotte was featured on Wednesday’s episode of the Panthers On Tap podcast, joining hosts Curtis Rauen and Bryson Karbley to put a bow on the combine. When going over their options under center in this year’s draft, Kunkel said he believes that there are only three prospects in play for Carolina’s first-round pick—Bryce Young, CJ Stroud and Will Levis." Here is what Kunkel said: “I think those are the only three that they are seriously interested in,” he said. “I do not think Anthony Richardson is a good play for them, and I don’t think they’re overly interested in him because he’s not ready to play in the NFL right away and they don’t have a guy for him to sit behind right now.” A few thoughts: Charlottonians (damned that's close to charlatans), would Kunkel even really know what we really think, because this "report," as Rizutti characterized it, screams of speculation? This belief does kind of fall in line with the thought that we will move up and have built a staff to facilitate the development of a young signal caller. The Anthony Richardson post Combine hype is still real. Beteen Rizzuti's unlimited ceiling comment and Kunkel outright saying that AR would be a "good play" for us, is almost as if they are lamenting that he's presumably not in the plans. But, by Kunkel's own admission, "he's not ready to play." Take it for what it's worth. There is plenty of rationale for our interest to gravitate towards the "top three," and Kunkel's thoughts could easily be real, but it's not like Kunkel said "I know" as opposed to "I think." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/08/panthers-2023-draft-seriously-interested-anthony-richardson-bryce-young-cj-stroud-will-levis/
  8. If AR or Levis is worth a first, then I'd think that Hooker has to be worth a second. Just food for thought. I do think that we're going to do our damndest to move up though. I just hope that we don't let Poles take our dignity.
  9. That's one reason @Jon Snow and I get along so well the vast majority of the time, even if we don't always agree. An appreciation for human nature is personally compelling.
  10. The gap as far as Jeremiah is concerned is between Young and everyone else (mind you, that this tweet is pre-Combine). But as I've pointed out before, he also said: "Hooker is an ultra productive QB with size, accuracy and athleticism. He operates in the Vols' unique spread attack, where they send their outside wideouts to the extreme edges of the field and force opponents to defend them in space. Hooker has outstanding field vision, makes quick decisions and delivers the ball in a position where his receivers can easily run after the catch. He doesn’t have a powerful arm, but he can make all the necessary throws. He throws a beautiful deep ball. He has the athleticism to extend plays and he’s very effective on designed QB runs. Unfortunately, he suffered an ACL injury late in the season that could jeopardize his rookie campaign. Also, his age (25) is a concern for some teams. Overall, I see Hooker as a quality starting QB and wouldn’t be shocked if he has the best career of any passer in this year's class."
  11. Yeah, it looks to me that AR had the better team, and it's not close. Florida being bereft of talent is more akin to a fantasy to me (pun intended being a true Dawg).
  12. Lamar, without weapons, has beaten those "handful of QBs'" asses also. I only bring it up (again) to show that he can compete, and help us to be legit competitors (money aside).
  13. I don't think there will ever be a smoking gun, but I certainly believe that the "problem" of guaranteeing contracts (especially such huge ones) was discussed. But that's kinda what Will Brinson is saying without saying it.
  14. I mean, he has been working in the league for 20+ years, and his name comes up every time there is a GM job comes up. I mean, all you really have to do is do a deep dive, but whatever... Dude, his job is to do what the GM and ultimatley the owner wants, not what I like. I know that we've acquired a few players notwithstanding a tight cap. But, since you asked and act like you are versed in the cap, here is something that I like. I like that notwithstanding a regime change and everything that comes with it, that as far as the cap.is concerned next year, we'll be looking pretty good. https://www.panthers.com/news/planning-for-future-salary-caps-a-multi-year-process "And looking ahead, they're projected to have more than $80 million in cap space in 2024 and more than $145 million in 2025 (and those are conservative projections, which don't include the possibility of the cap rising with new television deals)." Would you like to know what that means? It means that he has been putting us in a position to basically pay as you go which should be the ultimate goal of a cap guru from what I've been able to gather.
  15. It's not about what he thinks that Jackson is worth, it's about what they think that he's worth.
  16. DVOA? What about the official stat that the NFL uses called career passer rating? Anyway, metrics aside... Schefter can say what he wants, I have never seen QB-needy teams coming out all at once, covering their butts because of possible tampering. That smells of b.s. It just has never happened. I get the arguments about injuries. I think they are vastly overblown. QBs with injury histories get paid all the time. Sure, he runs more than most, but he has gotten injured in the pocket. It's a risky business, and the owners have the ultimate say-so. But let's not act like they don't talk and draw hard lines among themselves. Kaepernick didn't get a job for a reason (and not the bullshit reasons that some Huddlers were spewing).
  17. An agent probably would help greatly. Has he? I haven't heard him say much of anything.
  18. I haven't heard about any earth-shattering numbers thus far. But, it could be too rich for our blood. I still find it odd that we didn't officially get confirmation.
  19. I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with. Are you disagreeing that he's being prepared to be a GM? Are you disagreeing that he has scouting experience? Are you disagreeing that Rhule and/or Fitterer were/are ultimately responsible for a player's contract? Are you disagreeing that it's the cap guy's job to facilitate on paper whatever the acquisitions that those above him want to make? Are you disagreeing that Suleiman is well-respected across the league? I don't get it. If you're disagreeing with all that, then that's fine, but I don't.
  20. But, how could they possibly know that...unless they were talking among themselves about it...?
