  1. That's a compelling argument, until you think about the fact that Bryce beat a better Georgia defense in 2021 during their first matchup.
  2. That's really not surprising considering schemes, competition and the talent of his receivers.
  3. I only see one for him as well during his college career. Bryce played a couple more games though.
  4. No, I'm pretty sure that he's only flat out missed one game overall.during his career.
  5. Now that is true. Georgia was better last season than this past season, ESPECIALLY the defense. People seem to forget that.
  6. I am just responding to your energy. I never said that you hated Bryce. But, you don't seemed enthused about drafting him (especially when juxtaposed against the energy that you put forward when talking about Stroud as a prospect). As a non-Bama fan (a Georgia alum to be honest), I think that waaaaaaay more negativity has been put forth against Young than Stroud in the Huddle aether. As a matter of fact, more people have been supportive of Stroud than than any other QB on this forum since the trade happened (and probably pre-trade as well). As for losing Moore, I've already explained to you why it's unrealistic to expect to be able to replace him in the short term, but that it should be a reasonable expectation to improve the overall WR room in the short term. The TE issue really is a separate issue, but not only do we have better coaches, but this class id generally regarded as being deep at TE. We're likely not going to build Rome in a day. That's an unrealistic expectation! But, we can expect some reasonable growth notwithstanding the loss of Moore.
  7. And he played in the tougher conference.
  8. I mean, you just can't gloss over the "talent box." I mean, you can, but that encompasses probably most of what makes a QB great.. I understand your concern about being under center, but Bryce is a super smart and capable guy. I understand your concern about batted balls, but that's never been an issue with Young. You're talking about a guy that has consistently maneuvered inside and outside the pocket with success.
  9. I mean, I don't take issue with your opinion, but this is ostensibly supposed to be about why Bryce Young is a good prospect. BTW, Bryce can drive the ball down the field enough to not question his ATM strength at the NFL level, at least according to everything I've seen. He doesn't have a noodle in other words. I dare say that driving a ball down the field for 60-70 yards is a bit overrated within the context of what generally happens in NFL games.
  10. Yeah, you've been "considering the possibility," but what about the energy you've been bringing? It's pretty obvious that you aren't happy with the trade, and you don't seem particularly happy with the thought of picking Young. Now tell me how wrong I am.
  11. Well, the expectation is to always try to improve and strengthen your position(s). But realistic expectations and context should always be a part of that calculation in my opinion. We don't have another first this year or next, so I think that the wise man takes that into account. Long term, I'd like us to replace DJ with a better player, but short term we may not be able to do that---may not be able to do that. What we should be able to do in my estimation is to improve the room, notwithstanding the loss of DJ. There are receivers in FA that can help us to that end (even another DJ). We will also have choices day two in the draft. I'm not "happy" about losing Moore, but I certainly don't think it's the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination. New QB, new receivers, new offensive- minded HC: that's not a reason to be generally upset in my opinion.
  12. And I think that both will ultimately achieve the highest honor, as they should, regardless of where they played. Hell, NFL types give them their props right now. At the end of the day that's really all that matters. Once you're in the HOF, you're in the HOF.
  13. Any QB can get hurt. Injuries are a part of the game. If we draft Young, some may groan when he gets hurt, just like some will apparently be giddy to say, "I told you so," when he gets hurt. I don't think it will be entertaining at all. But I do think it will be entertaining when he gets back out there on the field and puts the size argument---at the very least in reference to him---to bed.
  14. I said it in the other thread. He won a Heisman in the SEC against "farm teams for the NFL" against skilled big guys with bad intentions. He was simply the undisputed best QB in college football in the undisputed best conference. And, you know what? He was available! Availability hasn't been an issue with Young. Pair his history with the fact that the modern NFL has been designed to afford the QB max protection, I just can't accept that as the crux of an argument not to draft him. He's been special and can be special running with the big dogs of the NFL.
  15. Perfect! Shaq may not be (or have been) the best value, but he's been solid to very good over the years--generally good. He's getting older, yes, so you never know, but I still think that "solid" is his floor over the next couple of years.
  16. Yeah, when he said "can't run," I was like, "What is he talking about?" Anyway, I think you have to look at the complete picture and go from there. Size can be a concern, but is it enough to justify picking the bigger guy over the smaller guy? That's the central question. People keep harping on "availability" like it's a fait accomplice that Young won't be available. I don't think that you can say that with any legit credibility because availability was not a problem for Young during his time at Bama, and the SEC is filled with skilled, big guys with bad intentions. The fact is, Young held his own and won a Heisman to boot. All that being said, there is an argument that Stroud, with his prototypical size and skill is the better pick than the arguably more skilled Young with his minimal size in refence to NFL history. Hell, there is an argument that Stroud is a better QB (taking size out the equation), probably due to whatever particular schemes and offense a coach likes to run, but...there is also an argument that Young is better fit for any scheme due to his pocket awarenesses and escapability factor that he displayed on his way to the Heisman. Getting back to the argument, "There has never been a QB his size in the NFL...[blah blah blah]," or, excuse me, "today's NFL...;" just because you haven't had many QBs under 6' and/or 200 pounds win Super Bowls doesn't mean that it can't or won't happen. I just don't generally accept that argument; but, in this specific case I could argue that if there is any QB that can do it (really again, because Russ did it once and should've done it twice), it's Bryce Young. He put on a display in the undisputed best conference in college football, against what I'll call "farm teams for the NFL." Moreover, I can easily say that the "modern NFL" has been developed to afford QBs maximum protection, so that is another reason why size of the QB takes on less importance than it did when Jim McMahon held the Lombardi above his head. I tell you all this because everything matters, but what matters the most is what our coaches think---what our execs think. All the Huddle debating and pontificating is interesting (if not annoying sometimes), but I truly believe that either of the young men (no pun intended) will possibly be the best QB this franchise has ever had, and can have good or even great careers, and I doubt that it's going to come down to size when all the dust has settled over the years.
  17. Well we just have to disagree (and the crowd is not necessarily following). Rhule never ever gave Corral any serious consideration. None, whatsoever. I think that the injury was at least an indirect result of Rhule's mishandling of the rookie. Anyone that's trying to play up mental reps, giving a rookie maybe four reps (if lucky), and placing him behind guys that probably aren't even in.the NFL, much less the team, isn't valuing that rookie as all. The O-line got pushed back and run slam over, and as a result the injury occurred and Corral has been on ice during a very critical time if his career really derailing it from even getting going. At least give the kid a couple of reps with the second string to see what he does. Rhule mismanaged Corral to the Nth degree.
  18. There is really no need to start a con thread for Young. It's his size. But for that, he'd be the consensus top QB. Mind you, I really don't have a dog in the fight, I'm just telling you what I have heard time and time and time again. If you want to nitpick, then maybe sometimes he holds onto the ball too long or checks down early, but his comes are pretty minor from a play standpoint. He's laid it all on the field. But, the size for many will be a valid concern. That's his ONLY real knock.
  19. There's nothing to do but watch the show. He really got a raw deal. This ultimately ended up as a horrible destination. Just horrible.
  20. Thanks. Of course it's too late to edit (which is why I kinda hate they put that restriction in place, but it's Igo's place).
  21. You don't like the trade up? Or, is it that you don't like that we gave up Moore?
  22. Even you can't blow up this club, Carl Spackler. It's a new day.
  23. Well, at least we still have six picks somehow. Here is the breakdown thanks to Ian Cummings of pro Football Network: Round 1, Pick 1 overall (from CHI) Round 2, Pick 39 overall Round 3, Pick 93 overall (from SF) Round 4, Pick 114 overall Round 4, Pick 132 overall (from SF) Round 5, Pick 147 overall https://www.profootballnetwork.com/carolina-panthers-draft-picks-2023-nfl-draft/ So, we have a few picks (and 22.7 mil of cap space according to Anthony Rizzuti) https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/10/salary-cap-compensation-panthers-bears-trade-wr-dj-moore/
