I think that he'll start from the get-go. I would hold my horses about any separation issues. I think that his biggest issue was QBs who focused in on more as opposed to spreading the ball around. We should know what's what by season's end.

Young had an excellent pro day. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportingnews.com/us/amp/nfl/news/bryce-young-pro-day-live-updates-highlights-alabama/yikuafcoocjtbqtcc6cdywrn Yes, he had a misfire or two deep off platform. He had a great day though. "Young's workout was impressive, as he showed off his best trait, pinpoint accuracy, early and often. He frequently hit his receivers perfectly in stride and almost always delivered the receiver a catchable ball in the right location. Was Young's pro day a dynamic one? Not exactly, but it did showcase that he is a polished, accurate passer who can make all the throws needed to become an NFL starter." Stroud had a nice day as well, but it wasn't necessarily better than Young's. Don't get drawn into media-driven narratives. https://theathletic.com/4337349/2023/03/22/cj-stroud-pro-day/ He showed off his arm strength, accuracy and mobility by completing 44 of 51 passes — and three of his incompletions were dropped passes." "The only downside to Stroud on the run was missing four throws rolling and throwing to his left." "The rest of Stroud’s day was nearly perfect. His deep ball was accurate and showed off a good touch. His best throw, also his last, was a perfect go route to wide receiver Jayden Ballard after evading pressure and stepping up."

Perhaps if Bryce were 6'2" and 225 pounds they wouldn't have budged.

Any QB can be a bust. That's already understood. It's just that some are less likely tjan others, and some are more suited for the modern NFL style of play than others.
-
There are similarities, but major differencies. Baker also played in a spread offense as opposed to a pro-style offense. Baker had spotty footwork and was apt to play hero ball and take sacks when trying to extend the play as opposed to getting the ball out. Baker also never had the arm elasticity or touch that Bryce had off platform. He played against decidedly inferior competition. Baker was also as not nearly as mature.

I have yet to see any scout or scouting report mention Young having an inability to see the middle of the field or his style of play not translating to the NFL. Being honest, the question of his size is really the only negative of any consequence thay any legit analyst/scout has mentioned. As far as mini Mahomes, that's not a Huddle creation, it comes from legit similarities to Mahomes' playing style from legit analysts and NFL types.

Young being compared to Manziel and Mayfield. I guess it's not as bad as referring to him as a project.

Cordial? OK. I didn't pull any "disagreement" into a thread, unless you're disagreeing with the fact that I think that both Young and Stroud could be nice choices for different reasons. That's not really a disagreement, it was you intimating what I believe when I know what I believe. That thread let everyone know what I believe and why from the perspective of a Bulldog fan, not from a perspective of any direct disagreement with you.

Reich was never the GM. Even I, who was skeptical or at least underwhelmed by the Reich hire, can't totally blame him for the QBs that he has had to deal with. He was just as much a QB in this league as McCown. I'm not giving McCown kudos for knowing more than Reich about QB decisions.

I've already discussed it, so stop acting like all this ad nauseam discussion is brand new. If you don't want Young simply because of his size and your fear that he won't last, that is your prerogative. I actually understand that opinion. I don't agree with it, but I respect it. It would be nice if you just accept that, and accept the fact that plenty of people actually feel the same. Do you feel that there is a magic number to reach or a different way that you can express your disdain for that opinion that will finally force people to see it your way? I assure you that there is not. Some people are just going to believe that the risk--to whatever degree that one believes it is--is worth the reward. Accept it without the facade of fake injury or insult.

That goes both ways. If Bryce actually realizes that considerable ceiling he has and Stroud gets banged up, then the Panthers will be slammed by everyone.
-
With all due respect, Burns is not on Watt's level (actually neither one of them) thus far, and I'm not sure he has it in him. If he wants that kinda money, a non-exclusive tag would be in his future if I were GM.

The question with Chark has been about health, not his heart (no pun intended). If his ankle injury is behind him, and he plays up to his perceived ability, we'll definitely do our best to extend him, as well we should. In a sense, it's also a prove-it year for TMJ. Don't forget about him.
-
Young and "project" just doesn't make any kind of sense. See guys, this is exactly what I'm talking about in reference to Stroud supporters taking things overboard.
-
If Chark does well for us during what is essentially a prove-it year, we won't let him get away.
-
I wouldn't take him in the first at all. The only way he might is because the position as a whole is a little weak this year and that may cause some overvaluation. I can't see passing on Kincaid or Myers if they are there. I just can't see it. I also am loathe to spend any more draft capital. I like Flowers, but he's too small for me to be losing draft capital. There are other receivers who should be available later in the draft who may end up offering more.
-
Hell, Carr was second tier.
-
I mean, I hear you, but I think that there is very little probability that he shows "nothing." If looking at his history is any indication, he'll do the opposite. If anything, It will be the regular season where we may have to worry.
-
No way that TMJ isn't safe. This is year three where the rubber meets the road. There is still untapped upside. If we're saying the same thing this time next year, then he probably will be in danger. I'm hoping for the best.

How stupid we would be to just carry five WRs. Not even Rhule was that dumb.
-
I want a WR. I know that's a newsflash. I'll take a pass-catching TE as a consolation prize.

I kind of chuckled to myself when @frankw intimated that I'm a believer in Bryce Young. As some of y'all should know, I am a Georgia alum. As such, I have my feelings about Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud based them being in the way of the Bulldogs these respective last couple of years. I can tell you that during the last couple of seasons, I was scared that Bryce Young would absolutely spoil my championship party. He carved my Bulldogs up during the SEC championship in the '21 season. Sure, we got the best of him in the championship game, but it wasn't easy, and I was on pins and needles every time he had the ball in his hands. If Jameson Williams had been healthy, who knows if we would've won? Moreover, I breathed a sigh of relief when Bama didn't make the playoffs this past season. It's hard to beat Bama and a QB like Young twice in a season. I just knew that we'd walk to a championship now that they were out. "Hallelujah!" Enter Stroud. Man, you talking about being scared. Stroud could hardly do know wrong in the semifinal. You talking about going from a mental coronation--enjoying the cakewalk through the Buckeyes who really shouldn't have gotten by Michigan--to just being fearful of a possessed Stroud who was on a mission to flip the Dawgs' script. I was just sure that we had lost until we stopped them that last time (I was almost 100 percent sure Bennett would get it done if we had the ball last, which he did). And, of course, who knows if we had one if Marvin Harrison Jr. had been available? But, at the end of the day, we did just enough, really like the season before. So, yeah, the way I figure it, how can I not be a believer in them both? I don't give a sh¡t about Young's size. I don't give a sh¡t that Stroud may not be as good off script or is not an improvisation god. I've seen what they both can do. Both of them made me scared that I wasn't going to see a championship the last two seasons (for different reasons, maybe, but they still did it). I am a believer in both,l and I believe that everyone should be.

Jason LaCanfora: Dave Tepper loves Bryce Young
top dawg replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nah, dude. Choosing a coach and choosing a QB is not the same. Tepper was a new owner still feeling around to find his way. More experienced owners were trying to hire Rhule. Let's just be thankful that Tepper has learned from his mistakes and that the Rhule era is over
