Yeah, it would be a rough ride for us if Young and Stroud flop and AR turns out to be the jewel of the draft.

I reject the notion that Stroud has the highest ceiling. If he did, he would've proved it in college. People are just saying that because of Young's size.

I mean, if they're both great QBs with one maybe being a little better, then I might not complain as much, or at all...but at the end of the day we had better have a legit---I mean LEGIT franchise QB. If our QB just happens to be the one that flops, I will be calling for heads to roll.

To be clear, I couldn't accept this scenario period, regardless of which QB that we pick. At least I wouldn't be happy with it. They need to get this right! Nobody's perfect, but that's what they're paid to do (to get this right).

"All the warning signs?" Come on, man. The only reason there is even a discussion about Young vs Stroud is Young's size. If he were 20 pounds heavier there wouldn't even be a discussion. I find it ironic that both QBs missed a full game in college due to the exact same injury, Stroud technically played through an additional leg injury, and Young played like three more games during that time in the SEC---oh, and picked up a Heisman along the way, and you are referring to "all the warning signs." I admit, some NFL types may project injuries due to his stature, and if they want to consider his size a "warning sign," not "signs," then they have the (what's now considered"acceptable") right to do so, but if he size proves not to be the issue that those making the injury projections are making, and Young becomes the winner that he did in college on the pro level in the NFL, woe to the franchise(s) that skipped on him. Then pundits will be saying, "You saw what he did in college. He was obviously the best QB in his class, but you skipped over him [blah blah blah]..." So now the Huddle is comparing Stroud to Brees or Brady...? And, no, the Young comparison to Mahomes didn't originate on a football message board... I'm sure there's some Hyperbolic Herb (yeah, I just made that up) somewhere that really thinks Young may be out of the league in three years, but don't be that guy. Lastly, my response is solely for the question at hand. We will look like big dummies if we skip over Young and he hits his ceiling and Stroud is just kinda good.

For me it's obvious. I will be pissed if Young plays like a smaller version of Mahomes---lights the league on fire---notwithstanding his size, and Stroud is Kirk Cousins on his best day. We'll look like idiots for years.

He was probably asked about switching ownership, so he's referring to what he learned from the transition of ownership since he's presumably getting ready to go through the same thing.

It just confirms just about everything I've said and been thinking about the power structure. It has been a "collaborative" effort from the "beginning." Fitt, Morgan and Suleiman are the driving force behind this transformation from a Rhule era where all three were basically handcuffed to the foolishness of Matt Rhule. The new "beginning" began with the exit of Matt Rhule (minus the lingering effects of course). That's why I haven't been as critical of Fitt and Suleiman as some others. It turns out that now Morgan has a lot of power behind the scenes as well. The three are really inextricably tied in regards to whether or not we will have a successful transition to an actual consistent, legitimate contender in the NFL. Of course Fitt gets the most responsibility as he's the GM and has allowed the others to play important roles in the decision-making when hiring the HC and other important roster decisions, but they will all have to take some responsibility for what happens in the future. I feel good about them, as do the Teppers (obviously), who are giving them the latitude to run the operations without being overbearing. Hopefully it all works out. We should have some idea by November, I'd say. Even if we aren't world beaters, incremental improvement should be fairly obvious. In two to three years I'd think that it should be obvious to everyone that we're a franchise that has truly turned the corner and is one that will have to be reckoned with on a yearly basis.

Well, I'm really not sure what you're disagreeing with. I acknowledged Stroud's accuracy. People have noted his ball placement as well as his ball strength (versus every QB including Young). But you know what? Young is still considered the better and more complete QB from a purely football perspective by most. Now as far as Frank Reich, you said that most "think" he is what Reich values most and that makes him a better fit. Not one person has really given anything more than lip service--a guess based on what they consider Reich values most, not what he has said that he values most. In fact, during his initial presser, he mentioned throwing from the pocket when necessary, but he also said (when asked) that we know where the league is heading in terms of a QB who can do things outside the pocket. So...who he actually prefers and who will be better for what he envisions going forward is still anyone's guess.

I have already talked about his frame. I completely understand if someone thinks he's too small. All I can tell you is that he played well against defenses in college, including at least one historic squad, and size was never an issue, nor were injury concerns. If you weigh his size discrepancy with other QBs versus his outstanding skill and decide it's not a risk worth taking, I fully understand that and respect that opinion. If I think that it is worth the risk, then it would be nice if you would fully understand and respect that opinion as well. I don't think that that's so difficult. BTW, I'm a fan of both Young and Stroud (and "fanboy" of neither), and I can see where they're both worth the risk.That being said, I think that it's not really arguable that Young was the better QB during their collegiate careers.

I couldn't agree more. My only other issue is that some people seem to be just saying that Stroud would be a better fit, but they really don't produce any real, analytically-vetted evidence that he would be a better fit. Their evidence seems more anecdotal than anything: "Stroud fits the system because he's a bigger, more accurate passer,” without acknowledging that he really isn't that much more accurate than Young who is decidedly more improvisational and apt to throw off-platform.

I mean, I'm not necessarily calling it an "expectation" as much I'm calling it a strong desire. I don't know what to expect, but I am keeping my expectations low. As for TMJ, he has the size, speed and the athleticism to be a beast. He has all these notable coaches to bring out the best in him. If he's not going to markedly up his production this year, he's likely not gonna do it. But he has all the tools, and the opportunity because Moore is gone, and it will be year three.

I don't know, man. I think that we need at least a rookie due to Chark's injury history. He's on a prove-it deal for a reason (and, yes, I know he chose to be because he didn't want a two-year for less than what he considers is his worth). At the moment, he can't be trusted to last a season. If he does, then we probably will be good, but we need some legit insurance in my opinion.

If TMJ doesn't end up as our WR1, then we have problems.

I mean, I really don't even know if Cam will get into the HOF strictly based on his play, but he was a major factor in helping the position (and thereby the game transition) into what it is today. I don't really know what QBs you are referring to without legit weapons and a legit O-line. Neither Brady and Manning weren't gonna do sh¡t without protection (and they aren't the only ones). At least Cam could use his feet to make things happen. Legs can't just be discounted as a passing thought. Production is production. Do I wish Cam had developed into a better passer (particularly with sailing balls over the receivers' heads)? Sure! And that's why I question whether he'll ever get into the HOF, or even deserves to--well that which is basically inconsistent mechanics, AND his decision making. But, he was electric for a few years. In my mind the complete package certainly made him a top 10 QB, and I don't think that he'd have ever been voted the MVP of the league if he wasn't a top 10 QB.

I would hate trading a second for Jeudy. He has largely underwhelmed for all the hype and opportunity that he has had.

The WR1 spot is up for grabs. I'd say that it's not going to be handed to anyone, and it's my expectation that TMJ will be the lead dog (if we even have a prototypical one).

They may be smart minds when it comes to football, but continuing to use an outdated test that pretty much any intelligent person in society knows is flawed for different reasons makes me raise an eyebrow as to what they're actually doing and why. They get no pass or brownie points from me for extending its usage for any reason.

When you asked about him missing passes, I assumed yoh didn't see them. My bad. I saw them too, and Stroud's may have been more dynamic (but he had more to prove), but I'd be hard pressed to say that it was "better." Young is a machine, and really displayed as much pretty effortlessly.
