The entire organization misevaluated the offensive line in 2021 by thinking Elflein & Erving was the answer and passing on guys like Slater, Creed Humphrey & Trey Smith. The problem compounded itself into this season. The continued mistakes keep compounding. Tepper is a finance man, he should be recognize negative compound interest. -
Can we officially declare TMJ a bust?
SuperBowlBound replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Third round picks to me aren't considered "buying low". Sending a third round pick to get an established talent like Greg Olsen was a great buy-low opportunity to me, especially after taking a franchise QB. That's about the only time I'm cool with trading a pick like that. Third round picks are premium draft capital in my eyes when you don't have a franchise QB - especially when they are whiffing more often than not on their evaluations. Understand the sentiment of buying low on first rounders. I don't think they have a plan over there. -

Bumping this thread. Terrace Marshall saw six snaps. Meanwhile, Amon-Ra St. Brown (who Panthers could've drafted in round 4 but opted to trade down to take Chuba "does nothing well" Hubbard) is balling out in Detroit. Panthers passed on Micah Parsons for Jaycee Horn. Maybe Horn becomes an All-Pro...but Parsons is a legit top 3 defensive player. The 2020 (Hurney, kudos to Tepper for being a moron) and 2021 drafts have been a complete bust. 2022 isn't looking so hot either. We all know 2019 (Hurney) was a massive bust outside of Burns. Sure, hindsight - but I think we have enough evidence to say that nobody on Mint Street nobody knows how to evaluate prospects. I don't trust Fitterer. People need to quit kissing his ass because he trades down so much. Trading down doesn't mean squat if you cannot make the right picks. -
Would you be pleased if we hired Byron Leftwich??

I really don't think it matters who the coach is unless Tepper genuinely makes an effort to learn from every mistake he's made thus far. The biggest disadvantage in sports is having a horrendous owner and Tepper is already in that bottom rung tier with Shad Khan, Woody Johnson and Daniel Snyder. I have always feared that we would enter a string of ineptitude shown by the Cleveland Browns from 1999-2019 and we are well on our way to that path under the Jordan Belfort of NFL owners. -

Considering the Panthers traded down multiple times in the 2nd round, giving Cleveland JOK & then passing on the best center in the draft in Creed Humphrey - yes, TMJ is a MASSIVE bust. The Twitter people that claim to be football experts but only look at Excel spreadsheets loved the pick. Just because the Twitter people love a pick doesn't mean he's any good. TMJ a massive bust so far. Am I still salty about how badly the Panthers whiffed on their OL in 2021? Damn right - because that problem compounded into this year. -
True. Did we ever get clarification on who ran 2021? Was it Rhule the fool? The class looks like a major bust right now considering how many draft picks they had. The whiffs on Slater, Humphrey & Trey Smith are reason enough to fire someone - especially when Marshall & a long snapper that was taken just to produce a viral moment for the Panthers content team were taken over them.
-
Looking at how the OL situation was handled last year - he probably wouldn't have got to play & his career likely would've been ruined. Shout out to trading down 3 times in R2. Also, shout out to not taking a shot on 226 at 222. Had 3 of them, you take chances like that there. I don't think anybody over there - scouts included - know how to properly evaluate OL talent.

Panthers GameDay "Arrival Experience"
SuperBowlBound replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I imagine he would've charged at the soon to be Spirit of Halloween facility in Rock Hill. The only "W" Tepper cares about is his wallet. He can talk about "winning" all he wants but the wallet is, has always and will be the number one priority for him. The number 1 disadvantage in sports is a terrible, out of touch owner, we have one now. Maybe he turns it around and gets lucky, I doubt it though. -
Panthers trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault
SuperBowlBound replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
2021 draft class is looking extremely rotten if Horn and a few other guys don't step up. Marshall over Creed Humphrey is absolutely horrendous. I know teams didn't clear Smith - but that is what you use 6th round picks for, not some long snapper to have a viral moment for your content team. -
I've been scouring the Google trying to obtain information on potential tailgate spots for week 1 that does not require a season pass. Does anyone know of any spots that would not require a pass? Do the Cedar Yard parking lots require one? If anyone can share any information/links that would be most helpful. Thanks. #KeepPounding

Anthony Lynn's dumbass had no intention of playing Justin Herbert. It literally took a botched pain killer injection to get him on the field. Just insane to think about.

Anybody listen to WFNZ or ESPN 730 in this city anymore? I try listening every once in awhile, but WFNZ (for reasons I cannot comprehend) hires awful "talent." I cannot get over some of these kids they allow to talk on the airwaves. If you cannot annunciate words, you shouldn't be on the air (like the "Smoke" guy on the Kyle Bailey show - he's giving Marc James a run for his money for worst of all time). I cannot listen to national podcasts/radio shows as I find most to be incompetent at best. Anybody like anything this city has to offer sports radio wise or is it all a burning bag of poop?

I'd hope from an optics standpoint that they keep it consistent w/all of the QB Pro Days. Would seem strange if they didn't unless they're trying to bluff their interest by overselling the attendance today.

In fairness.....the entire AFC West/AFC North (minus Pittsburgh) is good at the moment. AFC East: Bills are set. Jets/Patriots just spent first rounders on QBs and Miami is idiotically sticking w/Tua & signed Bridgewater. AFC South: Colts don't have a first rounder, Texans seem smitten w/Mills, Jaguars just drafted Trevor Lawrence & Shad Khan kept Baalke in charge to make sure he ruins him and I don't think the Titans would do it at this point. NFC wise: SEA, DET (sticking w/Goff 1 more year?), MIN (Cousins 1 more year), NO, ATL, need QBS. It's possible some of these teams met w/him at the Combine or he'll visit them. If the FO wants Pickett - I'm 100% positive they'd rather do so at 15-20 as opposed to 6. Getting a LT before the draft would really open up possibilities for Fitterer come draft night in terms of flexibility.

I would not be surprised to see Buffalo reach out about CMC again. They thought they had their pass catching back signed in McKissic until that fell through (and Beane was pretty pissed about). Compensation wise - I think I saw we asked for a first. I think the best they could do is a 2. But - I don't believe they'll trade CMC.

Thought this was interesting from Mike Lombardi on March 13. Should be noted his son is on the Panthers staff. He's pretty plugged in. He thinks Ridder has a high as ceiling as Willis/Pickett.
