  1. This is fair. I didn’t like him a ton when he made it to DC. Loved him as the DB coach. The other point about punting to Brady with the secondary etc… That is fair too. Still I saw a change in the players, for the better, and it beat anything I have seen for years.
  2. Seems like they did try to listen to what position coaches were asking for
  3. Wont deny it feels great to win a game and see a few winning plays. That’s all this is though. One TD. We won. Good, that is what I wanted to happen, but 15 points aint gonna do much as a rule.
  4. Didn't I hear that they are no longer going to ask Young to do what they had been asking him? What did they call it? Simplifying the offense? Can't remember exactly. I am gonna assume that is because it was too complicated for the other players, they couldn't keep up. The team told Young they were sorry, but until they could get him NFL teammates, it was going to remain rudimentary, nearly to Stroud level. Young will flat tear that up.
  5. Why not. We are a half court offense now anyway. He is a sneaky good player; we could bring him in when Dalton comes in to run the sneak, confuse the hell out of everybody.
  6. When I watch him play this year I don't see multiple 1st rounders and 30 million per as his value.
  7. Lou Holtz would be proud of CJ. I get it can take a while to judge. And I am normally right there with the level headed thinking approach. Slow to judge. Observe, and observe some more before concluding anything. Consider angles, influencing factors out of the player’s control, giving the benefit of every doubt until shown otherwise. At least, up until this year, I had been that guy. I know I shouldn’t shut the door after 1,2,3,4,5 straight crappy games, but man I got my hand on the doorknob. The cumulative effect of really not believing in this kid to the point of being tempted to send misguided desperate prayers that they take anyone but him, of course they take him. I have never been there on a player. Never been Anybody But That Guy. ANYBODY.But that is where I was. I hadn’t taken any of the talk of moving up seriously. Surely they wouldn’t fall for this, they know this game is played by men. Big and fast men. They would not fall victim to the trend of thinking he could outsmart them all and being the size of a below average high school starter, would not matter! My belief system was shattered. A psyop HAs to be. No, it is fuging real. fuging Tepper is real too. And then here is the season, with all the bail outs and throwaways, and all the little 5 yards in the air stuff over and over, and seeing a guy pull the QB down for a sack while on the ground - using what looked like two fingers, and Dalton in for the sneak because…. That is fuging ridiculous. Trade the farm for a guy that you don’t trust to run a sneak. For whatever reason you don’t trust him, who cares what the reason is. You took a guy that you are afraid to use at crunch time. Brilliant. That stuff pushes me not to care as much that he ‘throws with anticipation into some tight windows’, and is really smart.
  8. This OL discussion… I was shocked when I saw the opening day offense. Why in the hell when you have a rook QB do you not heavily invest in a run game for him. It is his best friend. Damned if I ever saw a running game, and we had guys who can run block. We know that from last year. We were practically telling them we were running, and see if you can stop it. And most couldn’t. WTF? I have been saying WTF ever since Reich and the staff were brought in. Everything we have done, wack.
  9. When you swap picks…. You don’t give one up? It is the freaking definition of giving up a pick. And another pick, on top of it to even it out. Except no that didn’t happen until we gave away a 1st round WR and more picks. Scot I don’t know that is your motivation but people use this type of fuzzy math to minimize the consequences.
  10. His lie is worse if true. I mean, if he isn’t lying… it is worse.
  11. I would absolutely have preferred Darnold, DJ, the 9th pick, all the rest of the package we gave up. And take a flier on QB every year until we hit. But none of the type of desperate long shot crap we are living through. I am aware that our current quarterback can make some nice throws into tight windows, and I still stand by my beliefs.
  12. More college? They are in the NFL now and I don't even need Sunday to be some arbiter of success or failure. I know who we should have taken and knew it then. Nothing has done anything to make me change my opinion of the players. Definitely not some college tape.
  13. Darnold was 4-2 under Wilks. Why would I need to say one more word?
  14. If the person an do the job they can do the job. You want somebody smart. But thouroughly grounded in the ways of the NFL because they feed off the fish kind of like in the penitentiary (according to movies lol). Edit: I forgot to say Matt Rhule, was a fish. I tend to believe it is like music and actors, people are attracted to shiny over the real thing so many times. Shiny young people. Gotta be more than that. It is a trend, the copycats are the ones who are screwing up because they are too far behind the the bleeding edge. I think the Panthers were trying to be copycats with All Star Staff Reich offensive juggernaut concept (what really screwed that up was making it harder than it needed to be by drafting this…. Wunderkind at QB). There will be a reaction trend and being on the leading edge of that might put you in a great place. But you have to figure it out. I think it’s gotta be defense. Which will lead to more rules that favor the offense, but that’s kind of how it goes.
  15. People who don’t prefer the CEO type coach that oversees and guides and motivates and Delegates, can’t see why Wilkes could succeed. Sorry, it isn’t an insult you just can’t see it. You are indoctrinated into the One Reason (Way) You Win mentality. Right now that looks like the wunderkind savior model. Wilks is absolutely not that and is old and crusty. I get it, but you are missing where his real talents are. That SOB is a leader and isn’t stupid either. edit to add this: absolutely, the real reason he was not hired is (no, not because he is Black)… it is because he would stand up to Tepper. Tepper knows that.
  16. I don’t usually agree with you but on this one, that’s what it looks like. Also, the less I hear about SF the better.
  17. He had something to say about (it). But the answer is lowball him and not retain the coach he played for, lots was different in Carolina after the season.
  18. Yes Dalton took a ton of hits and no that is not sustainable for him or for little man. Was getting that, at the time. It was rough. I am a person who has seen some football. I was watching the Heidi game as it happened. 9 or ten years old. The NFL Championship, you know like Green Bay and Vince Lombardi, Hank Stram, AFL. My dad was a high school football coach at the time of my birth, and he left it to make money now that he was starting a family. I go back. And this, what we are seeing them do from the owner on down, it does not make any sense. It is wrong headed. I resent that this is what being a loyal Panthers fan for nearly 30 years gets me from the current ownership. They SUCK. The team, and the owners. I don’t know how anyone is supposed to understand any of what they are doing when the coach says there’s all this new offense and it can’t be shown, this quarterback is so far ahead of the game that he is getting ALL the plays installed. He can handle it! So okay, take him at his word. He’s a pro. Except when the time comes to show something, they go into the slackest least ambitious shell of something…. I can’t really describe it as a system. Throw a lot of sideways 15 yard passes to nowhere. Short yardage comes up and now what? In comes Dalton to execute the latest greatest strategery. It is inexplicable. I had no idea what we were watching or what Reich thought he was accomplishing. Besides pissing most people off. And it hasn’t progressed to poo. Nice that the quarterback gets praise for fitting a ball into a tight window three yards away. I know that is an exaggeration but this sucks and I am frustrated. That is literally the season highlight on offense.
  19. Good one. Somewhat understated too, which is a good approach at this time. And, asks no one to draw a conclusion just communicates your pain. Which is real, no doubt.
  20. I don’t know about that. Sounds like the place to be if you don’t have any money and don’t like to work. I hear you can go in stores and get whatever you can carry out, for free. Must be one of those Supermarket game shows or something. Eveybody is an actor out there I tell ya.
