I hope Foreman comes back, and Hubbard isn’t the greatest but he did a good job last year. Replacing CMC with and keeping the two that were behind him last year isn’t the worst plan.

Whether the guy (Carr) is right or not, you don’t need to be a winning qb to know what it takes in the NFL. 10 years is plenty of time to get a handle on it. I’d say he knows more than anyone here that is simply a fan. Ex college players included. edit: I still don’t agree with him though ha ha.

Not questioning his talent. At all. Pointing out a possible cost vs risk imbalance. It isn’t, obviously, any good to have a player you have invested a lot in, being limited. And he has been. Just looking at that. I don’t know the Cardinals that well, but losing teams accumulate a lot of yardage via passing, trying to play catch up. So I would look into where those numbers came from, which I am sure would be done. As if I have any influence in the first place, they are not thinking of asking me what I think.

Too many questions for the asking price, sure he has a lot of talent but he has had injuries and time missed. Age is at a point where it could be a factor with these injuries too, is he gonna keep breaking down? And this is lurking as an issue in my mind: players with leg issues and the turf at BOA may not be a good mix. So what does that mean? Maybe they won’t want to play on it. If they they do sign, and have history of leg or foot issues, how is that gonna play out? I would say it should be a concern.

Trusting them is the only hope, whether you really feel good about it or not.

I am thinking if he has the fastball, he has the quiver full in a way we have not seen. He has excellent touch. It will get better if he works at it. He seems aware of touch, as an element of good passing, at least. Which Cam never did until his shoulder forced it. The ball placement is A-1, but that is a timing thing and on the next level will need to be adjusted up. Which the fastball will allow. one big part of the game. He doesn’t look bad. Maybe I am looking at the wrong shiny object but I would select him if my future depended on it, out of the four or the three, if the best player to select with the #1 pick in a player is the question. I wouldn’t have freaked over no trade and Richardson at 9 but hell no in this situation. Same for Young for that matter. Too small too risky. This guy Stroud has a fastball, he should be it.

Those first two paragraphs, it is in the wording. Is that quote totally in context? I saw Reich comment on the game changing and pocket passers and he did not exactly say it was over in so many words, he said it more like it was heading in that direction. Which seems to be true. I also think he said something to the effect of there will always be a place for a great passer? Less sure of the wording on that one. That last thing about elevating and leadership is absolutely true. That is the ideal. They are down the rabbit hole now. They have hamstrung the offense as a whole in favor of diverting all the resources towards. Decision was made. They did not just sacrifice future resources, they sacrificed current proven talent. He will Have to elevate the play of the players around him. Or fail. I am really excited about the amusement potential here, btw. Add all this up: We have a good OL. We have a QB to protect. Psychologically. Don’t wanna ruin his confidence. But we are slack as hell at receiving talent. Where is a Smitty, Shockey, Olsen? No Chud either. Stroud is accurate no doubt. And has a touch I wished Cam had tried to develop because it ain’t always about the fastball. However Stroud doesn’t seem to have top velocity but maybe that is just me not recognizing it on streaming video. You sometimes have to have that fastball. I’d love to have a passing artist to watch. Touch, accuracy, velocity/arm strength if you need it. Are there measurements for his ball speed? Those NFL corners, fast.

That depends on how much his boss influences the plan. If this blows up in Tep’s face he has to do a “buck stops here” mea culpa and get out of the process. edit: everything I have read has the power structure described as inclusive, diverse and committee like. Maybe he wants a place that has their poo together where he can get an honest shot, because he is running out of chances. He wouldn’t get that here. (The honest shot part). 5 OCs in 5 years was it? Now on number 6? He is gonna be well versed and maybe a quicker study from all that. I hope he plays to his ability.

If they have other plans for Chinn , well they are gonna have to trade some to get skill players. I was wondering if there are an quality guys blocked by a great player, in any of these organizations they pulled these coaches in from. They got coaches from all over, should be a couple teams are high on but don't have a starting spot.

Can he pass a physical? Curious in general but for trade purposes?

Maybe it is the money he wants or maybe it is they feel they have another option? Maybe he doesn’t want to play with a rookie, wants to win? Maybe wants to see where Jackson goes. It would be nice to get some clarity though.

No argument that IF the player works out right the price wasn’t an issue, I have been focused on if they have the bright future, or not. Crap shoot. Apparently the Bears don’t think any are as good as Fields or why wouldn’t they trade him and take one of them? Who here is sold on Fields?

The value of the pick in a vacuum is a small bargain, depending on your DJ Moore rating. A lot of people question the value of the QB prospects which isn't the same discussion. It is a ton of bad if they don't use it successfully.

Oh manI shouldn't argue again but.... I don't think blaming people is productive, it isn't likely an accurate charge, etc. It was said in plain English when he was drafted that he was a developmental pick. The defined it that way. I wasn't against it, I tend to like the smaller risk investments that are not immediate payoffs. So it was never in the plan for him to step Right in. That is revisionist. It is unfortunate that Rhule handled the QB position the way he did, for three seasons and last year, adding Mayfield was just muddying the waters further. I hope there is agreement that had Corral not gotten hurt, he would have gotten plenty of practice reps through the season even if with the scout team because PJ would likely have been cut. He would have gotten a year in the QB room which I don't know how that worked with him on IR but anyhow, this is the year he really could have been competing. But you know, he got injured. If he is on track for clearance to play in July as I heard, and with a new staff, this is just a bad break to start his NFL journey. I can't blame Reich for letting him go given he doesn't have a ton to go on and the player just won't be ready. Maybe they IR him again, and do have some interest in keeping him. But then, Reich who is (rightly) seen as a far better QB man than Rhule, scouted the kid, no doubt. So maybe even a healthy Corral wouldn't have gotten him excited, but he probably would have been wise enough to see what was up before moving him out. Again, it comes to a cliche even: the best ability is availability. Life in the NFL. Pro sports. If he is any kind of victim he is a victim of circumstances. And his own frailty I guess. Or fate. I don't see a person to make the bad guy moving forward.

I am missing this great D people are saying we are going to put out there. How does that work? There are 3 or 4 really good pieces. They are blowing up the scheme/system and changing it. Maybe it will be, but why assume the D is gonna be great? What is the basis for that claim? We got a very young and green DC which looks to have had compensation for him being hired away as a value add meaning it wasn't 100% a purely based on skill hire. Sure, they supported him very well with Capers' mentoring and extra eyes, and maybe it will be great. But immediately? I think that is wishful thinking when you look at history and see other overhauls and system switching situations with other teams. I think the deeper they dig the lack of draft picks hole, it becomes more difficult to get good quick on defense. Someone surprise me and justify the optimism please. With real world good reasons, not the normal fan boy wishing poo.

I don’t know what statements you have made but it seems you are invested in the Darnold is trash narrative. At least be honest about what you are seeing. He did play better in 2022. He did show potential. He is as young as some guys people want us to draft. If you believe Greg Olsen, see what he had to say about Darnold in games he called. I was against the acquisition to start with and 100% against picking up the option so if you want to call me a Darnold fanboy fine go ahead but it it is wrong. I am pretty impartial. Throwing him out, is a worse mistake than tossing Corral. Though he is not under contract and Corral, is. So I guess it isn’t the same thing. But you guys that think Darnold could not win with a decent team around him, I disagree.
