Wah wah is how I have felt since April and now I am for sure seeing why. edit: and if this does not change, you will be my cohort sooner or later.

I nessed up that post and the phone rang and … I think I meant to be quoting something but my edit window has closed…. Sorry. I do appreciate the Otah distinction. He sort of still fits into being worth the gamble as long as you are plying the same values across the board. More win than lose for your speculations and you could win the war.

It’s tough because similar things were said about CMC (to a much lesser degree) as we are saying about Horn. Now CMC is putting up MVP numbers, but he did get injured last game. Thomas Davis also couldn’t stay healthy until he could. The business rewards successful prognostication. Most look at the past for clues myself included but the future doesn’t always go that way. I think I would tend to want to gamble on the player staying healthy if the physical skill level is still there. I think you will be rewarded enough times to make it worth it as long as you are right about the Talent level in the first place. You have to guess right still but if the odds favor guessing one way you will be doing that. And a big btw, that is the biggest thing that put me off of Bryce Young. I don’t see talent commensurate with the investment. I’m not a coach or scout but I bet there are many of those who would agree that he is a huge gamble. Why make a huge gamble? Like reduce the situation to an all or nothing outcome? I could never see that for this player. And all I ever heard was basically “brain beats size and other major measureables”. Different sport but Acuna in baseball, came back from a major injury lukewarm Another year he was rolling. He was probably worth being patient with, but he as so obviously a major talent.

Not gonna happen though.

You count your way, what happened to the 9th pick? We gave it up, did we not? Did we not also give next year’s #1 to Chicago? Yes, we surely did do that. Add it freaking up. If you get one first out of that stay the hell away from my money.

I would say let his year play out and see how he follows it up because consistency at a high level is the elite bar for many, myself included.

If there was a re draft when would Young be taken?

Give me some history on 5'10" 185lb (at best, being generous) Quarterbacks? I won't limit it to number one overall selections. -
Re Goff: It is his eighth season, his last 5 years W-L record is about a game or two over .500.
-
He has made some very nice throws. Also stare downs galore, holding the ball too long, not knowing he can't depend on being mobile to escape and get a deep ball off, see that stuff too. It doesn't answer, yet, how we are supposed to successfully function on offense inside a 20x53 yard box. Y'all remember trying to hide Cam's weak arm? That is what this will be like at best unless they stretch the field. edit: I did not enjoy watching that kind of football and am afraid that is all we are going to get.

I am going to enjoy watching some good football Sunday.

Billboard time is coming. Let’s put Tepper’s damned clown face up everywhere.

I am kind of there too. I think I cut Fitterer slack because of Dan Morgan. I never felt like there was enough evidence that he was behind stuff, when we have a heavy handed meddlesome owner and the previous cosach had control over the roster not the. GM. How are you supposed to be able to judge his performance in that situation. I didn’t want to unfairly place blame. Now, I will fairly place the hell out of some blame. Whoever’s fault this is, it is time for accountability, and every person involved has majorly failed. I am fine with firing all of them. Every single person working on the staff and in the front office. We are like an expansion team, may as well go full new.

Seriously, do y'all want a positive vibes only thread?
stratocatter replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Very true. This place, always, has been a place where you might make it through a couple of pages and then it devolves into a shitfest. Really, I used to only open short threads. This deal about the Huddle was a model forum of fanhood discussion is selective memory by people. Again. -
Okay Frank I was reading that and getting a deja vu and then I read “horseshoe” and was certain it was an old post of mine. Lol. I always saw it the same way. Russell Wilson owes his wealth to mostly luck and scrappy ‘that’s MY ball’ WRs.

Almost like he is looting the business. Like the mob. Corporate raiders, all those admirable people.

wait ickey has been good this season?

Trying to remember.. I watched a replay that after about our 2nd or 3rd play, skipped the first drive and went to maybe the 1qtr 7:00. First dropback, Ekwanu is driven straight back, overpowered, bam. Great freaking job. He needs to play G I am afraid. -
I don’t see anyone considering that he needs a runway to launch a deep ball. Running start with a last second little skip that loads him up to throw. Pro day. Once I identified that, I had seen enough. No reason to keep looking. His size may factor but wasn’t the primary consideration. It is his arm and athleticism that I was skeptical about and with the stakes that high, you just don’t play with fire. I do not understand why pointing this out = hate towards Bryce Young the person. It doesn’t. It could be called hate for the decision makers, yep, but really it is total disdain for their reasoning. A refusal to see negatives because they are too desperate and don’t want to think they should probably wait on selecting their franchise QB.
-
I’m ready to see him leave but I don’t know why it will help. We have a head on this snake that dictates who will replace him, just be another yes man. Edit: at the same time, you want a GM who will listen to the coaches about players. So I expect that stuff to happen whoever is here.
-
Oh it’s gonna be so fun watching that, with Bryce as our prize.

Give me an ability to ignore threads, all for it. Maybe it will keep the non realistic people from gumming up actual reality type discussion. -

And That really shows the impatience of Tepper at work. One more year, there are the QBs, lining up with your pick. No need to trade anything. I’ll say, if this place is representative of the opinions of the larger fan base, the fans are as guilty of it as Tepper. You are all getting what you wanted. Be happy. -
Thomas Brown if he turns this offense around
stratocatter replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is the dynamic of getting back some players, along with the normal in season progression where we are expecting and normally see improvement in the units, some players, etc. In general the level of play rises across the league as the season advances. IMO. It won’t be long until Young is no longer a rookie. Past the halfway point and marching onwards towards his sophmore season. That will be here before you know it. Anyhow that is hopefully a bump. The perspective is always changing. So many variables to consider. I will say Brown should have it easier than Reich, just from the natural way of young teams getting better through experience. So won’t be surprised if things tighten up. At least there is something else to observe. Been very tired of the losing with no drama scenario. If we are gonna suck give me some drama somewhere. -
A moment of silence for PSL Holders….
stratocatter replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
That was the first game or something, right? I am not questioning if he trusts them or not because I agree he doesn’t but I think it is himself and the throws he doesn’t trust as much as anything. And he did thread a couple of needles where he normally hesitates and holds the other day so maybe he is finally figuring out he has no choice but to trust them. I still think there are going to be more minuses than plusses with him though, which is unacceptable scouting, evaluation and investing, IMO. -
I still say it is more execution based failure than play calling. Though I surely object to the confines of this 20 yard box they play in. Our defense may suck but they have a decent reason, and they at least score.
