  1. That seems pretty reasonable. McCown isn’t saying much in public regardless, I am thinking. It doesn’t necessarily indicate his choice. Though I do agree with the assumption about what it was. And to be honest, as huge of an outlier as Young is, I have a hard time buying that any professional with his job at stake would have chosen Young over Stroud. The odds were always long against Young and they have to at least be aware of that.
  2. I am not challenging this at all, but is that in print (ink or digital) somewhere that we can look it up?
  3. Yeah. People are just determined to pump him up. Reality is, well I looked at the weight difference between Brees and Young and then between Brees ands Prototypical QB size, and it is about the same. Meaning that if you give Brees what you are giving Young in the weight and height “inflation” estimate or comparisons when you make them between Young and Brees, it would pretty much be enough to give Brees prototypical NFL QB size. So it is not an insignificant exaggeration. Watch people come in and totally not understand this, 3, 2, 1….
  4. Nope. I promise you that won’t happen in my case. And has nothing to do with Young. It would be nice if your other prediction wasn’t wrong.
  5. I really wish we had a rotflmao type of graphic. You will have to settle for “like”. Someone said then the Teppers started getting involved. They were the reason for the trade up. Tepper seemed to think that if you traded to the top pick, you would get the best player. It’s that simple. Like numbers. You can trust numbers. 2=2. 1=1. Always. Just like the 1st overall pick = winning. That’s all there is to it! They actually seriously Planned and Paid (big) for this. THIS. Bless their hearts.
  6. Some Unnecessary Dumbness. I watched that guy and enjoyed him until he became bitter at the people who see what he won’t.
  7. I got ripped hard for saying this stuff 6 months ago. I’ve never called the player a bust I don’t think. I have definitely called him the wrong choice, a huge mistake, etc. I certainly have complained about his negatives. Have also said he may be able to have a career, win some games. Never called him garbage the way some talk about players. It is just a much more modest evaluation than the stans. Much more modest, yes that is true. He was a long shot, people bet him like a favorite. It was maddening to watch. As far as rooting against the team…. When people wonder why some people seem happy the Panthers lose or are bad… that’s not it. I feel good when they win. Goosebumps even. Really pissed when they lose. That doesn’t change. If you have acted like a smug, superior asshole towards honestly skeptical and rightfully frustrated people, maybe we don’t hate Your misery. That we saw coming for ourselves as well. Chicagoans send us their love, our front office has given their fans more to root for than their own people have for almost 40 years
  8. Yeah. You at least keep everyone who was in favor of doing the deal with the Bears to move up for the wrong player. When all of NFL history and precedent screamed Warning: This Has Never Been Done, they paid extra to do it. They need to spend time around the Bears and ponder what they have wrought, before being convicted and sentenced.
  9. When they said they liked them both I knew it was bad news. You know, that dollars to doughnuts thing has flipped. Used to get a lot of doughnuts for a buck and I bet you would be lucky to get one nowadays.
  10. Oh yeah. He does throw plenty away. Been seeing it in my mind since I was having bad football daydreams that had these images of him bailing the pocket, throwing it away, or just getting OB himself. And then the games started, and there it was. Really depressing. I would much prefer to daydream positive images of a guy standing tall and delivering a strike on a slant, getting a deep shot off a play action because the staff made sure their young QB has a great running game to support him, the normal good football stuff.
  11. And this has been shouted from the rooftops by some. Since his Pro Day in my case. Took very little squinting to see the light. Kind of like our society, it is definitely a parallel. People are in a place where just saying something seems to make it true for them. Reality be damned. It isn’t that he can’t make some plays and some throws and probably win some games. It IS that you do not ever even consider doing what was done to get him on the Panthers. You don’t under any circumstances. My rule prior, for sure my rule post.
  12. Wait a minute here with this Bryce would do better in Houston or any such re-projecting…. The projections are what got that guy here in the first place. Let’s stop with that and get on to what we Can see. Please. He would still have a much less that elite arm, and DL would still be running him down from behind. He doesn’t get gifted new skills just because he goes somewhere else. He is still an average at best high school kid-sized player - in the land of the super fast giants. And his processing? Project that, easy to do so far. Wrist band. A big whatever, it doesn’t seem to be really affecting the outcome of games at this point, yet. Not a huge factor. So I mean, how he would do in Houston, I don’t know. Not a lot better I am pretty sure. I can tell you, in Houston or wherever else, Stroud is the clear choice for the discerning NFL fantasy scout and I believe he would do better in Houston, and better here. Occam’s Razor for the win. You don’t have to be better than the whole NFL you just have to be better than Bryce. Like the bear story.
  13. Been saying it since I was forced to pay attention to the top draft prospects at QB. So I paid some attention, saw the same things that brought you to your conclusion, probably, and took him off my board. No poo. By the week of the draft I was anybody but Young. He is the type of player that I would have no issue with people being intrigued enough to take a shot on him as high as 9 (not me), or who felt that maybe late 1st was the sweet spot of not overpaying for him (me, but probably would have gone Richardson, Levis, whoever looked like a decent value). I would do this every year until we found our guy. And maybe our next guy.
  14. I see Bryce Young doing some good things. But any player that is deemed qualified to make an in season NFL roster at the QB position, is expected to be able to do good things. On the flip side, the players considered the best QB prospects are, among other things, expected to be able to outrun your everyday NFL defensive lineman. The 5’10” 190lb QB taken 1st overall, should be able to beat those guys in a foot race. Sub optimal foot speed and elusiveness was a concern for some people. Our quarterback was run down from behind by one of those guys Sunday Otherwise, it seems to be Panthers business as usual, let’s see, common threads: Panthers were never in it. Another loss. But it isn’t about the record! It’s about…. Showing that you can ….. uhhh, I’m not really sure any more. Young was not outstanding , but it isn’t his fault. Everybody can see that.
  15. I have a hard time arguing against that. I know I was flabbergasted seeing this offensive dream team’s ‘new’ offense for the first time, you know, after the gloves of preseason came off. Impressive feat.
  16. I don't care about Fitterer because these results are pretty bad, but I know he is trying to please the new coaches, or listen to them when they say they really like a player or need a player. Then Rhule had roster control and I am going to go with, he actively demonstrated it at times. It is what I believe. No one has earned anything though, in my eyes. Or hardly anyone has. I got no issues with job insecurity over there. They all should be working overtime to unfug this up.
  17. I swear I think it was the owners with Pep, and is the same type thing with Burns. Tepper wanted to keep him. JR definitely had his man crush on Julius. I always thought the cap management dilemma over Pep's 2nd tag is what led to Jake's big ill advised extension. There will be casualties this time too if they insist on fighting to keep Burns here, if he won't sign. And you have to wonder if he is being disagreeable in order to make a path to leave. I can see Tepper standing over Fit's shoulder saying no we aren't trading him, and more recently saying you better get him signed, but if that were true he'd be signed. Unless he wants out. I don't know, the whole situation has been bizarre. i would have taken the trade offer in the spring, it was big time. I don't dislike Burns but he isn't worth close to what he apparently wants, IMO. And when you add the variable of we can finish last without him, it's hard to see paying him like an All Pro. edit: I got off that Gettleman train early, but he was not wrong to let someone else make Norman enormously wealthy. I think he had a good first year of that deal and then started slipping. And I was a big fan of Norman, being local to Coastal.
  18. I am ready to see Ekwanu go to guard and worry about sealing that inside for a QB to step into. After a couple more years maybe he can learn enough to do better at LT. A couple of years to get his feet wet in the pros at G may have been the best thing anyway.
  19. I think these hamstring things are because they ramp up too fast from lazy contact free install practices and being camp coddled, and they just are all of a sudden trying to play fast. But I have no credentials or facts to back up my opinion.
  20. Not saying bad stuff since it took so long to get a win and how good it felt for everyone. But I could.
  21. Young missed a lot of time over parts of two seasons with an acl injury.
  22. I think some of the problem is the coaches were evaluating and asking for certain players. GM wants to help them, this really looks like Zavalas and Johnson and….
