It was a great throw, period. In a dome, so we know it was honest. Not wind aided. The most impressive about PJ for me, in the passing game, is his accuracy. If he can keep hitting guys in stride where they can do work, I want him to play QB for my team. He is doing it in game conditions. Real NFL game reps. Think about what he could do with more experience. Couple three things… It was the first game most of these players have been in, in the NFL, that meant something. We could have been sitting in first place, both teams knew it, it was a great stepping stone type game for a lot of players. The OL is getting to the point where they can give a guy a chance back there. I had a lot of criticisms of Cam with his passing but a I do think of him and this OL, and just use your imagination…. It would have been pretty great.

I will say that Marshall looks like a player, going by the simple eye test. I don’t like watching Shi Smith with the same eyes. Ditto for Anderson but he isn’t relevant thank goodness. I guess. Diva attitude and contract, barely above ‘at home sitting on the couch’ level production. What’s to miss? As I write, I think maybe with a qb who could get him the ball he’d have been better but that is true of all WRs . Most WRs, rather. and btw, I don’t know what everyone else sees but I am seeing this dumb CMC gif that annoyed me when he was on the team. It is not less annoying today. I’d rather see a picture of Paul Pelosi with a hammer.

Are We Really Not Going To Talk About This?!

I would have benched CJ for his effort, lack of it I mean, on the Byrd TD. I watched it and thinking I was mistaken, watched it again. He was trotting and trailing, as the guy matriculated into the end zone. -
Maybe you are right, but I think the NFL is great when it is old school. They want flag football now

That would have been a better plan. Build the rest of the team while you find your future QB

Being a gamer is a thing. It is real. Some guys shine in practice and the game, some shine in practice and wilt when the red light comes on. And some suck in practice but when stuff is for real they just rise to it. I don’t know which one PJ is but we should find out. He has the arm. There is no doubt in my mind that he can make the throws. It will come down to his decision making.

I feel like he is doing it right. They are men and he treats them like men. At the same time took no bull from Anderson. Woke up to find himself traded probably. That is a strong message on a couple of levels. At the same time, he stands in the firing line for the players who screwed up. I believe he understands how to lead and motivate on a high level. And I bet he gets interviews out of this and not just to satisfy the Rooney rule or because of his lawsuit. I have seen enough to know what I am looking at, and don’t think Wilkes is going to change over the next few weeks into, fundamentally, something else. This is what he is, and we are seeing it right now.

I thought the Falcons did not deserve to win the game based on their performance. But then we didn’t either. I saw improvements in the offense which we all sort of expected with the development of the OL. I liked a lot of what Walker did today. He was hitting guys in stride. That cannot or should not be underestimated. I have been a fan of his like most people because of his work. They used to give him scraps, like every year, and he turned them into a unit. They had guys coming off the street one season if I remember right. They did that because they knew he could do what he did. That is that thing where you are too valuable for them to promote you. I did not particularly follow or research his season in Az but had the feeling he wasn’t given much of a chance. He probably told them something they didn’t want to hear when it was my way or the highway time but who knows. I probably like him because he is no bs and will tell you the truth. My impression. Which means he will not be afraid to tell Tepper what he thinks. Sometimes, people that everyone says yes to all the time are starving for someone who will tell them the truth.

As far as unfair, I don’t see it. He did fire Snow. And he did t Have to take the job. Though thinking about it for a second, if he turned it down what does that look like in his lawsuit? Still on the merits of the proposition in isolation, he had a choice and went for it. I look at it as a great opportunity for him and I bet he does too. He will not be judged on playoffs he will be judged on his leadership and football savvy. At least I would hope so. edit: and, he has a chance to show people that maybe Az made a mistake. How long before he would have, if ever, gotten another crack at HC in the NFL?

Let's be honest. DJ doesn't deserve this.

I am not sure I understand being against criticism of a player who put us in a bad spot over a penalty but I didn’t watch so I can’t really judge. I will say that kicker proved he couldn’t do his job under pressure from the 14 yard line, he probably would have missed the winning kick from anywhere. -
CMC would have gotten plenty of press if he put up the numbers. But you have to suit up to put numbers up. he didn’t get press because he didn’t do anything for like two years. If he stays healthy yeah he will get a lot of press. I guess that is important to people.

Agree on football decisions and I definitely blame him for meddling in our yearly QB clusterfug, but draft capital, pick value, those sorts of things are his bag. Analyzing value of things. Placing a value on something. And financials or contract issues that could be part of it, that is boss/owner stuff too. Just do not let him pick the coach, the players, none of that. I have an idea that would allow him to play with his toy though. Do something like let him have the 7th rounder every year to play with, maybe he’ll get lucky. No one much hits on 7th rounders he can probably do about average.
-
Yeah see how he does. Always. Never hand the job out without a real tough evaluation. I like him a lot. He has been around. Been a failed HC. You learn things.

Except for QB they haven’t done bad and made progress towards having a well rounded team that can compete up front, which is to me the most sensible way to rebuild a roster. Get it ready for the QB you are going to ride with. I mean it is not rocket science and it doesn’t much matter what year or decade it is: a strong running game (meaning good OL) and a strong D are a young QBs best friend. At worst you can maybe make the playoffs with a game manager. It just gives your team the best foundation to succeed. OL DL is freaking important. More important than a valuing a RB in the top ten (same thing with Stew when we took him 8th or something). And what Tepper and Rhule did with Bridgewater, Darnold, and Mayfield even, was just bad decision making.
-
I am about over Shi Smith. Seen enough. Someone needs to step up and snatch that job.
-
Even crumbs are cause for celebration when you are starving.
-
I have to agree. I need to see three or four weeks of crappy QB play in real NFL games this year before I close his window. (Crappy play wouldn’t shock me, I just need to see it). Would prefer to lose out, I was against Mayfield because I wanted to tank. Lol. I support bringing him in now.
-
I don’t think it’s fair to say Darnold is behind Walker and imply that it is because Wilkes sees how much better than one is over the other. The guy just came off IR they will ease him in. If he earns that ranking, no problem with it. I was sort of stunned that Mayfield was so bad. There were so many downs that were wasted because of stupid poo. But I am a fair minded person I like to think, and Darnold needs to get his chance on the field. We will see what he does with it. The Panther way would be that he comes out and does great just to foul things up.
-
In terms of someone wanting to acquire him. Not Panther depth chart status. I can’t see anyone wanting to give him a contract.
-
I can’t imagine anyone wanting to give him a shot after seeing him play his 5 games here.
-
Yep. I have real life experience in this. This is really a common thing with successful people. Maybe they built and own every Holiday Inn instead of staying at one, it still does not make them an expert in a different field. But they don’t see that. They think they are smarter than people doing something half their lives. I have seen this a few times in different projects I have been involved with. They buy, and start telling people what to do. Pretty much every one of the self made people do that until something humbles them. Many are never humbled. But you, as an employee (it is worse if you are a partner), you cannot tell them anything. They just won’t listen because they see ‘us’ as inferior, since we haven’t done what they have done. So you have to suffer through their growing pains with them. And you already went through the learning your job growing pains once so… yeah it is no fun really. Usually.

Who knows? He isn’t coming into a great situation to say the least. I am a Braves fan and they had an interim manager that no one expected anything from. Maybe it will be good for Wilkes.
