  1. Someone let him know that we are grateful to him for hiring Wilkes.
  2. It is hard to understand why people think the way they do. Or maybe they just don’t stop and think, probably more like it. You can criticize the hell out of players of a particular color all day long no one says a word. They will jump right in if the player deserves it. You can praise players of any color all day long and no one says a word. Well, maybe they will think you are an idiot but they don’t assault your character. But with all that, don’t you dare to critique one of those players of the other color (you know: the color you are not), for what they do on a football field, because it means you are a racist. Cut and dried. No question, there is the proof of it right there! I feel the same way about Cam that you do. Or did feel. So much unfulfilled potential, he was a disappointment to me in that way. Because I thought he could have been next level. Truly one of the greats. Not a borderline HOF one time MVP that I believe he became. Which is still pretty damned good. Just sayin.
  3. And the reporter injecting her opinion into the question was not what should be happening either.
  4. Same. Luckiest MF I ever saw. I never wanted a QB like that, I only envied his luck.
  5. Not specifically for Wilkes but addressing the OC aspect where people say you get a great OC he is gone to be a HC… Or DC like when we lost McD it hurt a lot too. More than losing Chud for instance. Surely more than losing Turner. Anyhow… I think before I hired a guy I would be sure to make some kind of agreement in advance of this anticipated situation, that would protect the team. Like, you can’t take the entire O staff with you to be your OC and staff. Deal breaker. Negotiate that stuff. One pick for them to take and it can’t be the guy you would promote to his now old job. Or specify who on the staff is fair game and who isn’t. Figure something out that is agreeable to both parties and proceed.
  6. The thing about NFL HC is the job is so different than an OC or DC job that it can negate the talent of a coordinator, or inhibit the talent from being applied by that individual. IOW you taking the main asset that person has, that attracted you in the first place, and putting it under a thick layer of unrelated poo that will likely obscure it. They are just two very different jobs. And, if you go with the trends, you are a follower not an innovator. Something to slow down the young offensive-genius-bandwagon-trend -following and consider.
  7. Held my tongue for sure, and I am not a Nebraskan, corn farmer, or any of that. I recognize the condescension for what it is. Ignorant and probably ist in one or two ways as well.
  8. The source of ruination can be traced to Matt Rhule, but the trail continues through him to its true end.
  9. That is where I am. It isn’t because I think Darnold is the answer. But Mayfield is the answer to a different question altogether. And presumably the offense was installed with Darnold in mind. Let’s see him.
  10. Retreads at least have experience in all kinds of things a guy who has never been a HC wouldn’t have on his radar. Not to mention they are the guys who can put together an experienced staff.
  11. I was thinking yesterday about the las5 5 years. Every year it seems like we pay 20 million for a QB that isn’t playing. Cam, Teddy Darnold for various reasons That is pretty tough. And we were basically a 7-9 type team most of the time but never 5 years without even a sniff.
  12. Yes. One man negates him in the run game. He needs to get bigger and stronger.
  13. IOW his way he doesn’t gaf about the gig I’f he can’t do it how he thinks it should be done. I feel surely that he will tell anyone what he has to tell them whether they will like it or not. Behind closed doors, between them. Involving the media outside the locker room is what I am looking at.
  14. I like Wilkes. Wonder if he has reached dgaf with a couple of players and the HC audition or if he has a plan with this.
  15. That’s what it looked like to me. Mr Lucky. I have never seen anyone get away with doing that like he did.
  16. I thought I saw a lot of whiffing and bad angles. Linebackers as usual were not much of a force. LDE play was very disappointing at times too. Undisciplined. Put Roy at LB though maybe lol.
  17. I don’t want either of the top two, for a Top Two pick.
  18. Yep. Like soft serve vanilla soft. Flag football. Do they do Oklahoma and nutcrackers and run the play in practice until guys are falling out? Doubt it. I believe Luke might have pulled a Ronnie Lott and probably some other guys too but the league works against those players with these coed intramural style rules and officiating.
  19. 3rd best run d someone said. They may have moved up a notch. It was a good test for the younger players to take.
  20. I am going with Mayfield because I remember Jeff Lewis being a sow’s ear bu5 no5 too many specifics. Weinke, Clausen were rookies. Clausen especially, was thrown into the fire just to shove him up JR’s butt I think. Lost some respect for Fox that year. Mayfield was a starter for multiple seasons and he is still this damned bad,
  21. I was irritated as hell because I kept seeing the ball go to our new bell cow Shi Smith. Mayfield looked good on a his throws for a stretch, that same stretch that the WRs couldn’t catch enough of them. DJ. A couple that were not caught were really good throws. And he hit the receiver in stride a couple of times on completions. I am not a Mayfield fan though, at all, and was waiting for it when that 4th quarter got rolling good. We’d have seen it sooner if Shi Smith hadn’t stolen his thunder.
  22. It is an away game in the AFC North. Cleveland kicked our ass in Carolina. What happened at Cincinnati? Yeah.
  23. The thing about it though, if Mahomes didn’t go to Reid, how do we know things would have worked out this great for him? Maybe Trubisky goes to KC and gets off on the right foot. Swap their destinations, you can’t say for sure Just saying there are lots of factors. As for the Panthers I think they do have a very good situation for a QB to be in.
  24. I don’t like the way we did a QB like it was a disposable position under Rhule. I don’t like that Reich used that approach as well. The difference is, I would trust Reich to know what he is talking about. So maybe would feel a little better in the same situation with him in charge. I mean, if it is a keep your powder dry hold the fort situation sometimes you have no choice but to make do.
