  1. I already question the coaching staff's endorsement to do the trade up if either of these guys is the target and now that I looked at the players closer, you just don't take a player like Bryce Young number one overall. You damned sure don't trade what they traded for the privilege. Which doesn't mean Stroud is that #1 player either but if you have to pick one it is clear.
  2. Props for the short support. Those guys deserve them. The belief in our fate being tied in with shortness, like it is some kind of secret mojo that unlocks power, would be what it takes to get me on Young as the pick. But I don't believe it.
  3. I am trying to figure how we blame Jake Delhomme for losing that SB. I was yelling at Fox a lot. Chasing points. At Kasay. At the defense on their GW drive.
  4. Get your best players in the game, however you have to do it. This has been interesting to me since they gave Wilks the job, but brand new schemes on both sides of the ball is extra fun.
  5. Look at it like horse racing, the draft trade to 1st overall represents a huge pile of your eggs being wagered. AR is too much a long shot to bet huge to win. Maybe you play a place or show bet, but putting huge amounts down, you want the safer bet. Better chance to win, means less chance to lose. Spending the 9th would be a different story. My preference would be to place a longer odds bet on a guy at 9 (rather than to bet so much we are afraid to place on what we think could be the fastest horse). Unlike horse racing, you can win the same amount betting 5 bet or 50 if you choose wisely. Years of picks, or a 3rd rounder, pay the same when they hit.
  6. Tepper likely would have means to find out more of the inside story of that situation in Indy. I like to think he saw Reich refuse to placate Irsay, and knowing that he has these same type impulses and needs a strong personality to save him from himself? Maybe not.
  7. If I were Baltimore I would take two firsts for that guy even if they were from KC. Just get something and get that money off the books and wash hands. It probably isn’t gonna be permanently fixed there. Now somebody remind me that KC already has a QB….
  8. Think it is coming up. Have seen it written they are going to Gainesville don’t remember the schedule.
  9. Yeah the value is too far off when they could have had him at 3. Which is way too high as well but it is what it is at this point.
  10. Well over a hundred million guaranteed. Who the hell can’t retire one one year of 40 million plus per. He would surely get paid that first year. They’d be guaranteeing the first years wouldn’t they? It is simple Greed.
  11. Okay where did the sudden switch to the 3-4 in Tepper's first year of football involvement come from? If Tepper didn't give a direct suggestion he had to have made his preferences known. He wants to be Pittsburgh. Wanted to be. Ron wanted to keep his job. I feel like he put a lot of pressure on Rhule to get a QB which may have led to what looked like desperation mode mentality.
  12. Everyone has seen QBs that are highly drafted the last few years, turn up on another roster after 2 or three seasons. May as well scout them all now.
  13. As far as doghouse, wasn't he a healthy scratch starting out last year? I know they sat him at least once (first Saints week) but I think almost until Rhule was gone.
  14. I think they are going to give him a chance to shoulder some weight. They traded Moore. Number one that tells him no one is irreplaceable, and number two it tells me they could see something in Marshall.
  15. I think people are undervaluing 5% more arm strength. Just picked that number but these things increase in value exponentially when you get to the upper levels of performance. Maybe it is 2% but maybe it is 10%. I believe a small gap in ability can make a real difference when the margin for error narrows way down. Like against better competition. I did watch some of Young’s pro day. I saw him take the running start on a deep ball. Like, shuffle step up and then step into throw. Okay which first of all, if a guy needs a clean runway to make a long throw he won’t find much of that in the NFL. It is the arm when you get down to it. You can have the best of the rest.
  16. Anyone ever conclude how much more it may have taken to get to #1 over #3?
  17. I don't think they go 3-14 whoever they pick, but if they did Chicago would be sitting fat, not Carolina.
  18. Yeah about the Bears. Fields isn’t that promising but they had a chance to replace him, they don’t see an upgrade there. Should be a warning, because I know there are qb sluts here that got a thing for every one that comes out and were all over Fields. What warning? Lol. They’ll be all over Young and Stroud. That is where most of this noise is coming from. I would have much preferred to sit at 9.
  19. It is still coach influenced. His moves. Collaborative. Owner too. It does seem they are on the same page, I can't complain about FA really. This trading everything they did to take a 5'10" college QB? I don't see the savvy there. Not crazy about giving that up for the other guy either really. but if I have to pick one..
  20. Same. Carr and develop a couple of young guys you didn't have to trade future draft gold to get, could have worked despite what the instant gratification obsessed claim. But not at that money for Carr.
  21. I don't think you go through the coaching search, and hire all these QBs and offensive brains just to disagree with their preference and overrule them. Don't see that happening.
  22. Yeah, no one had a good answer for him all the way through the playoffs. He was The difference in the games I watched.
  23. Rhule. Tepper 1.0. If this desperation move to get a QB doesn’t work, it gets worse from here not better.
  24. All this is why you shouldn’t spend future number ones on a current number one. But people are stupid.
