  1. Coleman and Boston are the starting safeties by the bye week, calling it now.
  2. Call me crazy, but I'm worried about Free Safety. Coleman and Harper are both Strong Safeties, and as much of an upgrade Tre Boston was last year over Thomas Decoud, he was no Earl Thomas. Those couple times he got burnt by Kearse in that Seahawks game still linger in my memory. As far as Colin Jones, he's fast and has done ok in limited action at Safety and Slot Corner, but I don't think he's a long term solution. I mean hope that Tre balls out, but if he doesn't, I wouldn't be surprised if our two biggest needs going in to next years's draft are OT and FS.
  3. Tell us more. My initial thought was that we should keep a 6th LB like Glanton over a 6th corner, since we know that Colin Jones can play the nickel. What have you seen out of Lou though?
  4. Not the same foot. It was his left foot he broke back in January. FIngers crossed that it's just a sprained ankle. The fact that they taped it up to begin with is a good sign.
  5. Just doing some reading, and Norwell is 6' 6" and played some Left Tackle in college so this really isn't too crazy an idea.
  6. Especially when you consider that the year when Cam accounts for the biggest cap hit, 2016, is also the year we'll be keeping a relatively cheap Kuechly on his 5th year option. That structure sets up nicely for paying Cam and Luke without getting into salary cap hell.
  7. Nah, as much as we need SS help that guy hits more like Vontaze Burfict than Luke Kuechly.
  8. I've thought that question myself. Only one pass rusher put up a higher sack total than Ealy last year, Aaron Lynch in SF. Not bad considering there were 10 OLBs and DEs taken before him in the draft. Long story short, when Gettleman says a guy he got in the 2nd is a first round talent, he means it. Between Ealy and KK, I've got high hopes for Funchess.
  9. LMAO at Artis-Payne's twitter handle. I'm sure he and Cam will be buds as they're both Tigers. Can't wait to hear some War Eagle pressers.
  10. Haha, looking back at the realistic expectations for Benji thread I said "At least two game winning touchdown catches." I don't think he had that, but he certainly exceeded most all of our expectations. As far as Funchess, I say 50 catches, 800 yards, 6 TDs. More than his own production though, I think having him opens up the rest of the passing game and gets Cam back to Chud era yardage, ie over 4,000.
  11. Something must be up with Clemmings for him to still be available this late.
  12. After seeing how the end of the 3rd round has played out, I'm more ok with the Funchess trade. Here are the players drafted at or after our pick at 89: 89. Sean Mannion, QB, Oregon St to Rams 90. Carl Davis, DT, Iowa to Ravens 91. Chaz Green, RT, Florida to Cowboys 92. Jeff Heuerman TE, Ohio St to Broncos 93. Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford to Colts 94. Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford to Packers 95. Matt Jones, RB, Florida to Redskins 96. Xavier Cooper, DT, Washington St to Browns Call me crazy, but if Funchess can become the next Moose, and if Gettleman really had a 1st round grade on him, then moving up to get him was worth more than any of those guys at the end of the 3rd.
  13. No need for the Shaq signing to reduce Bene's role. We'll just play a 4-2-5 with Shaq rolled to SS, or if you prefer to think of him as a LB still, call it like a single safety set. Either way, I think our 11 best defenders are Shaq, Tre, Luke, TD, Tillman, Bene, Norman, Ealy, Star, KK and CJ. We'll find a way to get those 11 on the field at the same time.
