  1. This is what happens when you let Hurney pick the coach.
  2. Rhule is to confident in his guru's ability to make bad players better.
  3. This is what happens when the plan is to grab Jets players.
  4. Oh look its our vaunted defense you arent allowed to criticize. Thank God for the Canes.
  5. Gotta love the whole "Let's not snap the ball till the play clock is down to zero so the defense doesn't have to guess the snap count" routine.
  6. What a physical game. You could really tell the Preds wanted that game. Preds coach Hynes catches a lot of poo, but he has his guys playing a very physical brand of hockey. Observation: -Looks like Turbo is back on his A game. -Despite his turnover Svech is the best player on the team this year. -Aho was close on a few breakouts, I can tell he is wanting to break the ice. -Andersen played very well, we saw the benefit of having a big goal tender who doesn't play the puck too much. Needs work or bad: -Trocheck needs to get his game going, he isn't that noticeable out there right now. -We're still having trouble clearing pucks out of the D zone -We need more O-zone time. Overall: Another good effort by the boys. It's a good sign that we're still able to win while Rod is figuring out the best line combinations. Go Canes!
  7. To be fair, I sure wish we had an overlapping talent for CMC this year.
  8. To be fair there is no guarantee that the highest bidder would have paid their employees more. I understand that your commenting on a generalized aspect of society. Specifically the nature of owners patronizing their employees by selling pride. I get that and agree with it. I would say that these aren't Tepper's employees so its a nice gesture. Your beef may lie with the contractor and not Tepper in this instance.
  9. We can't have one thread for all 82 games. I can't get down with that.
  10. Borrego needs to go if he doesnt hit the playoffs this year. Its that time.
  11. Just gonna conveniently leave out the O line and put it on Sam there?
  12. I think what he meant is Sam's thought process isn't derailed by the pass rush. I would say that it should be, but not in a panicked way. Ideally you want to see a player who is dealing with the rush make adjustments to account for it. I'd like to see Sam in a calm way get the ball out quicker and audible to some blitz beaters. However it's tough to audible when the other team is making it to him in less then 1.5 secs in a base defense. I like Sam. I can honestly look at these games and can understand why the turnovers happened without getting to enraged at him. I think a few of the interceptions are completely on him, but that's every qb. I do think he improves with better protection. I haven't really seen him just throw a bad pick when he's had a clean pocket. Overall, I like his attitude and his mentality, and I think he is talented and seems to be a good leader. Obviously we need Christian back and we need to address our OL. The bigger issue I have with our team is that we have an offense built around the presence of one player who isn't on the field all that much. I love Christian, but we need another dynamic guy that can really alter defenses specifically in the backfield. I think Chuba has played pretty good, but he isn't a guy that will alter a D's checks presnap significantly. We also need a legit TE. So OL, TE, and RB are all on my list of top needs.
  13. I dont think its a crazy assertion. Its a business...and businesses are mindful markets. Its why The Golden Calf of Bristol gets picked up by minor league teams and the Jags...its why Rex Ryan and Mike Shula got coaching gigs. You think shula would have ever been the head coqch at Alabama if it wasnt for his name. This same concept extends itself into the LGBTQ market as well.
  14. There just isn't a parallel when it comes to scheme. Broncos we're running a 3-4. We're running a 3-3-5. It means we're relying on smaller players to stop the run. I love the 3-3-5 on third and mediums, but when we're running light weight lineman out there and using less lineman period it's an issue.
  15. Listen I said in the the op that the D is greatly improved...however it had a complete collapse in the Cowboys game and it collapsed in the 4th quarter today. We have a glaring weakness stopping the run when we need too. We can say the same thing about CMC and our rb situation. They're awesome until we need to pick up a yard on 3rd and 1.
  16. Von Miller was really the only speed rusher. DWare is a big dude...traditional DE.
  17. It doesnt remind me of that D at all. We gad some beef on that Dline.
  18. I don't disagree with your assessment, but when the brass spends an entire draft on D, and two consecutive games we get closed out on the ground there is an issue.
  19. Meta is a gaming term. It means the traditional way a character is supposed to be played. The way the game developers intended. There's a somewhat derogatory term in the gaming community called being a meta slave. That means when someone isn't willing to think outside of the normal role of a character to perhaps gain a strategic edge in a non traditional style aka asymmetrical warfare. The 2021 Carolina Panthers gained an edge throughout the first three games of the season being anti meta. They've hoped to revolutionize the defense by using positionless players. A safety that can play LB. A DE that can play LB. A LB that can assume the role of a safety. DT's that can switch to the end. All of this in the hopes of confusing matchup equations for opposing offenses. In the first three games of this year, it worked brilliantly. So what's the problem? Being so anti meta with positionless players means that your defensive line is light. You can scheme run blitzes, but in the end of the game you will be closed out. When offenses decide to play smash mouth football it's over. The Panthers have rotating DT's with no true run stopping ends, because the end positions are designed to be so flexible that a traditional DE can't play it. Same goes for the LB's. Denzel Perryman would be nice to have when we have to stop the run to get the ball back in the 4th quarter. Cam Irving had an interesting press conference interview. He stated that he was happy to be here because he could focus on playing one position....LT. In his previous stops he was asked to play all over the line, instead of trying to master the craft at one position. While Cam is no brilliant LT, it does give us some insight into the problem of expecting players to master multiple positions simultaneously. Now for the most part, our defense has greatly improved. In the first 3 games it benefited from having leads and being able to rush the passer. However, what we have seen is when the game is even or we're behind the defense breaks down late game because it lacks the META BEEF to shut down the power run game. Hopefully this is just a result of having a young defense and trying to cover up holes along our front seven, but there is a small part of all this that has to make you wonder if we're outsmarting ourselves here. While it's fruitful to on occasion go outside of the meta to gain an edge, it should not be a full time philosophy Just thoughts.
  20. Nah. We missed Arnold today, and that 3rd nets us interior OL. Brass needs to focus on O
