He is definitely playing better in the present day.

We won some games lately against teams or are fighting for a wildcard. Crap on the team all you want. They definitely tripped up the first 6 games of the year, no doubt about that, but this team is a tale of two cities.

I'm not giving up Freddie. They can take Chatfield instead.

If we make the playoffs it won't be because we are tripping in there. It would be because we won a lot of fugging games down the stretch.

I'm not stating that Darnold is our future at QB in the least. The topic is about trading for Derek Carr. When comparing Sam Darnold against Derek Carr I really don't see why it wouldn't be a better option to sign Sam to a bridge deal instead of overpaying for at best a slight increase in production with Carr.

I think the Steelers game was a blessing in disguise for us. I think we come into this ready to go. We come out and have a 7 minute scoring drive to open the game, and take it to the Bucs. The Bucs make a late rally to make the game closer then it is. Panthers win 24 to 20.

I disagree with this comparison. Kyle Allen was a virtual unknown and was able to capitalize primarily because there was very little tape on him. Also Kyle Allen wasn't a bad player. It's a shame he got hurt in Washington honestly. Not saying he would have developed into this amazing QB, but Allen could play a lot better then he was given credit for. The biggest issue with Allen really was small hands, and so he fumbled a lot. Many people have already labeled Darnold and once labeled it's very hard to shake. Darnold has been good enough to earn the respect of his teammates and his coaches. He handled a very strange situation very maturely this year. We have seen Darnold develop, and honestly how can we judge him when Matt Rhule was his coach, the offensive line was abysmal, and the coaches were horrible at game planning with CMC hurt last year. Darnold is a known quantity in the NFL unlike Allen, meaning he has years of tape and his game isn't unfamiliar to opponents. Darnold has gotten better and better and he is starting to turn the corner. The trade for Darnold when all is said is done may turn out to be a good trade. The knock on Darnold has been mental. "Seeing ghosts" is all people think about Darnold when they cast judgement on him, but he looks like he has sorted that out. He is playing with some confidence we haven't seen, and for the first time in his career he looks comfortable under pressure and in command. Darnold was a high draft pick for a reason, and now he is finally turning into a fully mature player. If he finishes out 5-1 and gets us into the playoffs why would you not sign him to a bridge deal?

I think Darnold is playing good ball right now and if he finishes strong you re up him on a two year deal.

As bad as that Steelers game was, it was an 8 point game and we responded. Three out of four is not bad, and this is what Wilks has done without a mini and training camp to implement his philosophy. I'm just not sure which candidate can come in and offer the same sort of improvement that Wilks has outside of Payton, but he isn't coming here. Unless we can get a guy like Payton, hire Wilks.

What would be intriguing is drafting a qb in the first and then signing Brady. Let the kid pick Brady's brain for a year, along with Matt Corral.

Bad take. While Wilks may or may not be successful. Right now he is raising another mans kids on the football field. Got zero input over coordinators and personnel when it came to putting this team together. Had his best player traded. Whether you want that man to be the coach or not put some respect on his name and be fair minded.

Compared to the last 4 or 5 years fug yeah it's successful.

I think Wilks is beating them with scheme. Give the man some credit. He drew up a scheme to win with the talent we have. With less pieces he's providing 400 percent more production then a guy who made 800 percent more money. He is doing more with less and you think that's because of? I mean he may be a great speaker, but talk doesn't get you those wins. The reality is, Wilks has forgotten more about football then any of us know. Sometimes in life, after trying to develop an expertise in a field, you are drawn back to what really works. In this case, running the damn football and stopping the run.

I think the answer here is simple. It's scheme. Look at Frankie Luuvu. That guy is flourishing here, but was just a special teamer every where else. I think all franchises have situations like this happen. D'onta Foreman has been one of the best running backs in the league since he's gotten the burn. He has out performed CMC in this offense this season. CMC goes to San Fran and looks great again. Then again CMC went to go play for a honorary family member. Talk about a nepotistic situation. poo is just weird like that sometimes.

I don't think he had a bad experience here at all as a player. I just don't see any reason why he wouldn't. You think he became successful and then just started turning his nose up at us? Would take more to prove he wouldn't come here then would.

I don't dislike the kid. I just think it's way too premature to anoint him. The ACC is flat out awful, and that team has struggled to beat good teams. You are right, my argument in and of itself is no basis to write the kid off, but I don't think it's entirely impertinent. There are certain teams that have a knack of developing good pros, and some that don't. UNC is a school that used to pump out great NFL prospects. In the past ten years we haven't seen much. Great college qbs really elevate their squad and in the very least can grind out a signature win or two. UNC looks great against Duke, Syracuse, Va Tech, and Wake Forest (not a real top 25) team. But Notre Dame, and Clemson? Outclassed. He pressed so hard on that pick 6 and couldn't bounce back. Not sure how you can have this kid over a guy like Rattler who at best is what maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick right now.
