  1. He’s got a lot going on outside of football. I can see him moving on pretty soon, I don’t really think his heart is in it enough.
  2. glad we have guys in leadership who are willing to move fast to make changes like this. i think we're staying in the watson game until he agrees to rejoin houston (unlikely), is traded elsewhere (very possible), or we strike gold on our own. we will likely go into the draft not knowing his status and will draft a QB at 8 if there is one we like. if we can trade for watson after the draft we'll probably send that rookie QB as part of the package.
  3. They'll trade him. And if they don't they'll be the ones rotting. Players will always be able to get out.
  4. We're gonna need 2 and won't be drafting early rounds most likely
  5. 3 1st rounders ? some additional later picks as necessary 1 of CMC, Burns, Brown, Chinn - We franchise and sign Moton long-term - Sign at least two O-linemen in FA. There are some high quality guards and centers in FA-- pay big for at least one (probably a G). Probably draft O-line somewhere early. - Consider keeping Okung another year because the LTs aren't looking too good in FA. - Let Curtis test the market and either bring him back or find a cheap replacement. - Extend DJ and lower his cap hit if possible. Consider extending Robby a couple of years and make him cheap. - Keep Mike Davis (2 years) if he's not already under contract (especially if we trade CMC). - Use whatever draft picks we have to re-load the position of the player we lost (unless RB), add to O-line depth, speculative playmaker on offense, add another player on defense (LB or CB). - Cheaper FAs to look at: LB, CB, DT, TE, and DE
  6. I think the news about us willing to do anything for Watson is (1) a way of intimidating other teams— think of going all in in poker and (2) showing Watson how much he’s desired here will make him feel good about coming and want to buy in. Players love to say they’re ‘wanted’ and clearly Houston doesn’t respect him and ‘want him’ like we do.
  7. I think it's just part of the life cycle of a team. You build it with the main pieces, then try to keep patching to it with draft picks and FA signings and extensions to make it last. Before last season we'd been throwing everything we had at the team to keep the Cam & Luke era going. It ended and now we rinse and repeat. It's why the Saints are in such dire straits. You can even draft well and still find yourself in this position. The Rams are doing it now too. Very rarely are you successfully maintaining a great cap number and competing for Super Bowls year in year out. The Seahawks hit the same wall with the legion of boom and they chose to let them go. The Pats failures in the draft finally caught up with them and not having a transcendent QB like Brady finally showed the cost. We don't have to look at this positively or negatively, it's just where we are in the life cycle and now we start anew with hopefully a stud QB, some good offensive pieces, and a budding defense. If we can get our QB this offseason, the real key is just finding O-linemen either via draft or FA. I think we have the core of the defense in place with Burns, Chinn, and Brown. Let them grow while adding some complementary pieces. For offense we just retain DJ and Robby, have CMC or Mike Davis, and grab a TE somewhere or a third WR. We're not in a bad spot.
  8. Love and respect to Tre. Super glad we drafted him and even brought him back. He was part of a lot of good times and his energy will be missed.
  9. Again, anything we can do to sweeten the pot and have him pick us over another team is fine with me.
  10. We're cutting players, Teddy unfollows Panthers with a chance to be offloaded on Texans in the blockbuster deal. How soon until we bring Watson here and maybe extend his deal some? Not sure how long his current contract runs, but could see us sweetening the pot for him by offering an increase somewhere too.
  11. I think the longer the Texans try to stop Watson from leaving the worse off they’ll be. (1) once the draft approaches and happens, teams will have made their plans at QB and will have obviously used their picks. Less teams in the mix. Less immediate value. (2) they will be the ones feeling the pressure to move him as time goes on. He’s said he’s willing to sit. Look at Carson Palmer. I think Watson can press them more than they can press him. They will be the ones with a scab QB and will look awful in the process in exchange for nothing.
  12. Elite QBs are king. At the end of the day I can’t be mad at giving up whatever the price is to obtain one.
  13. Florida's trash, Tampa's trash, the Bucs are trash, Brady's trash. Nothing here is surprising.
  14. We’re just weathering the storm. Let other teams get antsy and pick up other QBs. We’re lurking until Watson becomes available
  15. One of my preferences in trading for an established QB vs a rookie is the value of the picks we’d be giving up is greater for a rookie vs a vet. Conceivably with a rookie next year we could easily be in the top 10. With a vet I think we’re in the middle, maybe even back third of the draft.
  16. I can bear a douche when he wins 7 rings, but not before. I gotta say I’d rather have a non-douche Mahomes though.
  17. Some guys you just know. For me Kenny Vaccaro was another example. You knew he fit with the Saints. Star had a demeanor that fit our team better
  18. This kid looks like a douche to me therefore I don’t want him
  19. You guys not wanting to spend much to solve our QB problem are gonna be disappointed no matter how this shakes out. We’re about to spend big on Watson or moving up in the draft.
  20. I'm not sure I agree with you that much. The reports were that our offer to the Lions was going to go through until the Rams upped their offer to beat us. So, the trade with Teddy was fine with the Lions. We weren't paying for them to take Teddy. For the teams losing their starting QB in the trade, it's helpful for them to receive a QB who 'can' start in return. Teddy's deal isn't bad for a starter. And frankly, none of the teams who are trading their franchise QBs are expecting to go to the Super Bowl next year. Just as we used Teddy as a bridge QB last season, they'll be using him for the same thing (a good guy with heart who can lead and start while still landing a top 10 pick).
  21. I’m sure he loves wearing that ring and thinking about how daddy Foles won it for him. That would eat my soul if I thought I was a MVP caliber QB
