Weatherly and Palardy ALSO being released today!
Captain Morgan replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
looking down the roster there is very little fat left to trim, unless you consider Little, which may be a possibility. Ian as well. Only about 13 guys on the team make more than 2 mill next season. -
so it looks like Burris and Chinn will be our safeties. That's not bad.
-
if he's a post June 1 cut, we save 3.5 this year and 4.9 next year. He gets 2.6 both those years.

Updated Cap for the 2021 Panthers
Captain Morgan replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jonathan M Alexander @jonmalexander · 30m The Panthers are gaining $4.27 million in cap space after rolling over what was left from 2020. So, if you base it on the salary cap minimum of $180 million, the Panthers will have roughly $24 million in cap space. now Cut Weatherly (5.9m), Burris (3.8m) and Palardy (1.9m) and suddenly we have $11.6 million more, for a total of 35.6 million. Moton's tag will take us back down to around 20 mill. -
Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo · 1h The NFL in a memo to teams has said the salary cap floor has been increased from $175 million to $180 million after talks with the NFLPA. Show this thread

I think he's the guy of guy Rhule likes to get...got the tools, just needs better coaching. Could be our next Roddy type talent at a less cost. And cutting Ian gives us 2.1 mill more for the TE position.

27 year old center. And we have a surplus of good young backcourt players. Come on Mitch. The Cleveland Cavaliers are no longer planning to play Andre Drummond as they work to trade the two-time All-Star center before the NBA's March 25 deadline, sources told ESPN. The Cavaliers are moving to make Jarrett Allen the franchise's long-term starting center and believe it's unfair to Drummond to limit his minutes as the organization transitions to Allen, sources said. Cleveland is starting to gauge the trade market, but there are no serious ongoing discussions with any team, sources told ESPN. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30905655/sources-cleveland-cavaliers-play-andre-drummond-try-trade-star-center-deadline

REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board
Captain Morgan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
meanwhile.... NFL Rumors & News @nflrums · 1m Report: #Panthers are high on #Alabama QB Mac Jones he is looked at as someone that could develop behind Teddy Bridgewater and develop. no idea who this person is, and he doesn't credit his "report." -
no matter how injured we are, we have to beat Chicago. After that, it's Denver, Golden St., Utah and Phoenix. And then Golden St again. Last night was a bad night to have so many injured.
-
thanks for the stats. I couldn't believe it either.
-
He's in the zone.
-
this is one of the most staggering stats I've ever seen, and I'm old. Kyle Bailey @KyleBaileyClub · 29s We’re 27+ games into this season, and Lamelo Ball is already 8th in @Hornets Franchise history in Assists (164).
-
so Gordon is out tonight. welp, it's a chance for our young guys to make a statement. Someone needs to step up and be the leader. Ball and Rozier are the only likely candidates.
-
they've won 4 of 5, we've won 3 of 5. Gonna need a good game, not as sloppy as last time. At least we're at home.
-
I'd offer our first and third this year and next. We need a qb, but we need that second round pick a lot this year.

Gregg Bell @gbellseattle · Feb 8 Official NFL transactions: #Seahawks release backup guard Chance Warmack. He opted out of last season after signing because of COVID-19 reasons

with the salary cap situation, some good players are going to get cut early. We won't be big shoppers, but we need a thread to keep track of who just became available. Saints in particular are clearing space right now. Saints cut OL Easton, TEs Jason Vanderlaan and Cole Wick. https://nfltraderumors.co/saints-cut-ol-nick-easton-te-jason-vander-laan-te-cole-wick/ #Eagles WR and TE Room expected to look different @NBCSports are projecting Marquise Goodwin, DeSean Jackson, and TE Zach Ertz to be Salary Cap Casualties to save the team 21M #NFL Giants cut WR DaMari Scott and DB Shakiel Taylor https://nfltraderumors.co/giants-waive-wr-damari-scott-db-shakial-taylor/

This is timestamped over a day ago, but I didn't see a thread on it. Looks like Brugler did the mock, then each team's beat writer comments on their pick. Jets went with Wilson, then we trade up Carolina Panthers receive: 2021 first-round pick (No. 3 overall) Miami Dolphins receive: 2021 first-round pick (No. 8 overall) 2021 third-round pick 2021 fifth-round pick 2022 first-round pick Carolina Panthers (via MIA) — Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State The Panthers’ ownership and front office have made it known that they plan to be aggressive this offseason in upgrading the quarterback position. They missed out on Matthew Stafford, and Deshaun Watson remains a long shot, making the draft their best opportunity. Instead of sitting at No. 8 and hoping a quarterback falls to them, they out-bid other teams and go and get their guy in this mock. Fields needs time, but all the talent is there for him to develop into Carolina’s answer at the position. | Beat writer analysis: Joe Person’s reaction to the trade and pick behind a paywall but here is the required link. https://theathletic.com/2378777/2021/02/11/nfl-mock-draft-zach-wilson-justin-fields-trey-lance/?source=weeklyemail

just a weird game, most of the guys who look the best for us didn't tonight, but we still had guys like Rozier show up to give us the win. One stat that helped....19 for 19 from the free throw line, and we needed every one. 20 freaking turnovers is the worst part. For a small ball team, we've got to do better than that. This looks like one of those games where a young team read too many good things about them in the media and didn't play hard enough. But enough talent to get a win.
-
not at our best tonight, same old flaws plus very sloppy passes and not shooting as well as we normally do. And still lead. Got a ways to go, but this team has pieces.
-
Timberwolves are one of the worst teams in the league. This should be one of our easiest games till we play them again as the last game of the first half of the season. We should win, and hopefully, can get our starters in a groove then give the younger guys some time for experience.
-
post of the month. also, ESPN's lead story on their front page is about LaMelo. It's behind their paywall, but it says "This is more than we could have expected from LaMelo Ball. our experts dive into Ball's game and what comes next for the standout rookie." Now that he's starting, I think he'll put up stats that will make him the runaway winner of ROY.

Panthers begin their scouting process
Captain Morgan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
good post, we really need another good draft, but I guess we're in the same boat with everybody else. Rhule may still have knowledge of some players from his college days. -
