  1. Charlotte Hornets (33-37) at New York Knicks (39-31) When: 1:00 pm EDT Where: Madison Square Garden; New York, NY How to watch: Bally Sports Southeast, NBA League Pass The Hornets need a win in the worst way. They currently hold the same record as the Pacers and sit just a half game up on the Wizards. They have the tiebreaker over both teams, but that won’t matter if they keep losing games. Their magic number to clinch the eight seed and the easier of the two paths in the play-in tournament is two, meaning they need some combination of two Hornets wins or Pacers losses to clinch that spot. We’ll talk about the Pacers later. But first, the Hornets can control their own destiny if they just win their games. Today they play the surprisingly good Knicks. The Knicks looked like overachievers in the first half of the season, and many saw their difficult second half schedule and figured they’d crash out of the playoff race. Instead, they’ve rallied in the later parts of the season and are in the running to host a first round playoff series. https://www.atthehive.com/2021/5/15/22437461/preview-charlotte-hornets-take-on-knicks-in-near-must-win-game-playoffs-play-in
  2. I don't know anything about the protocol, but I hope he was able to keep working out. His shot may be off for a few games, but maybe he could at least shoot during his time away.
  3. great post OP, loved the video of him playing basketball. That man is gonna lose some pounds in Spartanburg.
  4. 1 pm game...anyone know if it's televised? I'm not seeing it on my channel lineup
  5. Charlotte Hornets PR @HornetsPR · 37m UPDATE: @hornets forward Miles Bridges has been cleared from the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols and will be available to play today vs NYK
  6. the best we can hope for is advance out of the play-ins, get as much playoff experience for this young team, and as many wins as possible to get some confidence. Then on to next year with a taste of what it takes to win in the playoffs in the NBA.
  7. meanwhile, in Tampa Rick Stroud @NFLSTROUD Bucs first round pick Joe Tryon, the LB from Washington, did not pass his physical and is here but not participating in rookie minicamp. He recently had a minor surgical procedure on his knee, coach Bruce Arians said. 2:54 PM · May 1
  8. David Newton @DNewtonespn · 1m Panthers rookie OG Deonte Brown says he reported at 347 pounds.
  9. this is the funniest thing I've read all week
  10. Hornets hanging in there going into the 4th. Think we've seen our best shot though. Clips hit a cold spell and Charlotte caught up and took the lead but now LA is hitting their shots again. Kudos to some guys you wouldn't expect stepping up tonight, and Melo is hitting from outside again.
  11. Caleb with the 3 to beat the clock! didn't see that coming. Its weird that Cody is noticeably better, but Caleb made that one.
  12. Bismack getting the start tonight. It's his 455 game for the Hornets, making him 5th all time in games played. Which kind of defines the Hornet history.
  13. got the Clippers tonight...only 3 teams in the league have more win. Could be ugly if we don't hitting shots again. Melo has shot well since he got back, maybe he'll find it tonight.
  14. We need him asap. should get him this weekend. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/charlotte-hornets/article251354008.html
  15. The Hornets backed into the playoff last night...lost to Denver, but thanks to the Bulls losing, we are in. 3 games left, and all games will be against teams who will picked to beat us. Here's how things look...if the season ended today, Hornets would get the 8th seed. Here's what it looks like if the post season started today. 8. Charlotte Hornets (–) Record: 33-36 Games Ahead (11th): 4.0 Games Back (6th): 5.0 Last Result: 117-112 L vs. DEN Next Opponent: vs. LAC on Thursday Tempers ran hot in Charlotte, where coach James Borrego was ejected during his team’s tough home loss to Denver. While the result prevented the Hornets from gaining ground on slumping Boston, it at least clinched a spot in the Play-In Tournament and a shot at their first playoff spot since 2016. They will now battle for seeding with remaining games against the LA Clippers (at home), New York and Washington (both on the road). https://www.nba.com/news/play-in-picture-may-11-2021
  16. can't find anything about it being streamed. Scot, you gonna update with tweets?
  17. Joe Person @josephperson · 11m Panthers coach Matt Rhule will have a Zoom call w/ reporters after NFL schedule release, which conveniently also comes after his former QB criticized his practice routine.
  18. Bulls lost, so we're officially in the post season. but another injury. Charlotte Hornets PR @HornetsPR · 5h INJURY UPDATE: @hornets vs LAC 5/13 Bridges (Health & Safety Protocols) out Hayward (R Foot Sprain) out Cody Martin (L Ankle Sprain) out Charlotte Hornets PR @HornetsPR · 1h UPDATE: @hornets reserve Caleb Martin (L Thumb Dislocation) has been added to the injury report as questionable for tomorrow's game #AllFly
  19. the worst 4-0 NFL team ever (not including 2015)
  20. according to NBC's Thor Nystrom. He liked the NFC South... Falcons ranked 1st and Saints ranked 5th. 7. Carolina Panthers Name Rk Pos Ht Wt RAS Comp David Moore 176 iOL18 6'2 330 6.82 Parker Collins Paddy Fisher 241 LB27 6'3 240 3.36 Jack Cichy Spencer Brown 262 RB20 5'11 208 4.89 Spencer Ware Peyton Ramsey 307 QB15 6'2 215 4.2 Nathan Peterman Mason Stokke 343 FB4 6'2 242 6.15 Anthony Firkser Kavika Fonua X S44 5'11 197 6.88 --- Oscar Draguicevich III X P8 5'9 188 --- --- The Panthers’ UDFA class was very much like Matt Rhule and company’s first two drafts -- highly focused on infrastructure. What this seven-man group (six, if you don’t count Fonua, who only got a tryout) lacks in depth, it makes up for at the top with prospects who have a legitimate shot to crack the roster and contribute one day. Carolina left the draft with the offensive line still a need area, and thus did well to agree to terms with David Moore, who tied for No. 12 in the UDFA class with $125k in guarantees. You can think of the top-32 UDFA guarantees sort of like Round 8 of the NFL Draft. If Roger Goodell had gotten drunk and nostalgic on Saturday night and extended the draft a round so he could emcee the final 32 picks from his basement like the good old days, I would have applauded the Panthers popping Moore with their pick and called it a steal at an area of need. Discounted by NFL because of small-school background and sawed-off frame. But Moore has long arms to negate length concerns. He's also a strong athlete that plays ticked off. Rhule's gonna love him. After that, the Panthers grabbed unathletic tackle machine LB Paddy Fisher, who will basically give you 90% of Chiefs second-rounder Nick Bolton’s skillset. I’m a big fan of UAB RB Spencer Brown -- to stick with the percentage thing, "The Moose" is about 90% of 2020 Packers’ second-round pick AJ Dillon, offering the same skills in a less-athletic package (I thought Brown's 49th-percentile RAS composite would push him over the hump to get drafted, but no dice). Peyton Ramsey seems like a jolly lad to have on the practice squad soaking up Joe Brady’s offense for a few years. Meanwhile, I’d be more intrigued by the addition of Wisconsin FB Mason Stokke -- one of the class’ best fullbacks, and a signing that otherwise had Alec Ingold potential -- had the Panthers not taken Tommy Tremble in R3. I’m not sure there will be another open roster spot for a blocker.
  21. got within 3 but couldn't hit the shots. Pacers are losing at the half, so that helps. We win tonight (we won't) or a Bulls loss, we are in the play ins. We just have to win one more to guarantee a spot in the post season in the Bulls win.
  22. Kyle Bailey @KyleBaileyClub · 39m Devonte is 15th in the entire NBA in Real Plus-Minus (and obviously tops for the @Hornets ). Sandwiched right between Kevin Durant and CJ McCollum. He might not have LaMelo’s ceiling, but he’s a dude you want on your team.
  23. Melo doesn't have his shot back yet. Even missing free throws badly.
  24. Borrego gets tossed! This game gettin' testy. Melo and Campazzo have been at it a little.
