this is going to be a wacky draft, mainly because of the QBs. This is all pre-combine, but I still feel like at least two teams before us will take one or both. And someone may fall in love with Dart, who is moving up. 1. Titans desperately need a qb, but they may go after Carter at #1. His potential at edge is going to be tough for anyone to pass on. They could trade back. 2. Browns also need a qb but a LT would be a smart move, and maybe WR 3. Giants will probably take Ward or Sanders if they are still there, but could be a bpa candidate. They could also trade back. Raiders apparently like Sanders, and they could trade up into the top 3. That would be good for us. 4. Patriots will probably want either LT or WR for Maye 5. Jacksonville is a good candidate for bpa, which could very well be a defensive player that we would want. 6. Raiders need a qb, but have a lot of needs, so who knows. crazy franchise. 7. Jets will probably take bpa left standing, may take a flyer on Dart if he shows out at the combine. 8. We will have multiple good choices at defense, and frankly, every position on defense is a need. I think Johnson is the safest player in the draft and would look good opposite Horn, but I'd rather get a playmaker on D. Mykel seems to be trending down. I think we'll be able to get Jalon here, but a DT is fine with me. As always, the combine will clarify a lot.

During an appearance on Good Morning Football: Overtime, Cousins spoke about his uncertain future (video link). The 36-year-old was benched in favor of first-round rookie Michael Penix Jr. late in the year, and the latter is in position to remain atop the depth chart moving forward. As a result, it was reported in December the Falcons are expected to release Cousins this offseason. The latter’s $27.5MM base salary for next season is guaranteed in full, and a $10MM roster bonus for 2026 will vest early in the new league year if he remains in Atlanta. Given the compensation he is owed, a trade allowing Cousins a fresh start would come as a surprise. For now, it remains to be seen how Atlanta will proceed on the Cousins front. Even if he finds himself a free agent once again in the near future, though, retirement will not be considered based on his comments. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/02/falcons-qb-kirk-cousins-addresses-health-status-2025-outlook as a post-June 1st cut, the Falcons would gain no cap relief this year. They will save 90 mill over the next 2 years. They will owe him 75 mill over the next 3 years. https://overthecap.com/player/kirk-cousins/1443

and Falcon's fans consider him a bust. Apparently he doesn't really care about football, and is not engages. They want to trade him for a 3rd or 4th. No to Top 10 TEs.

After cycling through a handful of backup quarterbacks in 2024, the Dolphins are determined to find a capable contingency plan for Tua Tagovailoa. Jackson adds another name to Miami’s impending search: Andy Dalton, with the reporter noting that the veteran is “held in high regard” by the organization. Dalton has garnered starts at all of his post-Bengals stops, although that wasn’t always necessarily the plan. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/02/dolphins-eyeing-marcus-mariota-andy-dalton

looks pretty good to me -
are the Saints the last team without a coach? I understand the cap and the old players being the only good ones, but someone has to coach them.

Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan has a busy offseason ahead of him. With a defense in need of a substantial retooling, and an offense still seeking playmakers, the second-year GM is on the hunt for talent. And that’s what brought him and nearly the entire Panthers scouting department to Frisco, Texas, this past weekend. More than a dozen Carolina evaluators were on hand during the first two practices of the annual East-West Shrine Bowl on Saturday and Sunday. The group interviewed dozens of players and watched practices to get insight ahead of the draft process. Most of that group will also attend the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, later this week. One of the Panthers’ best players will go to his first Pro Bowl after an impressive first season in Carolina. Robert Hunt -- the team’s right guard -- was originally an alternate after missing the initial Pro Bowl roster, but with North Carolina-native Landon Dickerson going to the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, Hunt is stepping in as his replacement. In 16 games this season, Hunt gave up only 2.5 sacks and was called for holding just one time. He was perhaps Carolina’s most consistent offensive lineman all season long, and brought a personality and sense of leadership that radiated throughout the locker room. The Panthers signed the 28-year-old to a massive five-year, $100 million contract this past offseason, and one year into the deal, it seems to have already paid dividends for Carolina. Darin Gantt @daringantt · 3h With Panthers guard Robert Hunt added to the Pro Bowl Games today, it marks the first time since 2021 the Panthers have had two Pro Bowlers. (I mean, unless you count that year when Christian McCaffrey spent the second half of the year in SF.)

Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 2h ASU safety Shamari Simmons just made an impressive, backward lunging pick off a deep ball from Minnesota QB Max Brosmer. Brosmer comes back and hits Miami WR Jacolby George in stride toward the sideline for a first down. Much quick-paced team drills than yesterday. West OL vs. DL pass rush drills: - Indiana DT CJ West really impressive swim move. Great burst off the line. - Boise State edge Ahmed Hassanein finally upended because Florida OT Brandon Crenshaw-Dixon is an oak tree of a pass protector. - Boston College G Jack Conley having a nice weekend, just stopped SMU DT Jared Harrison-Hunte in his tracks. - Really like Indiana OT Trey Wedig sturdiness and physicality. @ShrineBowl

Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 2h #Panthers assistant Daren Bates running field goal drills. Miami K Andres Borregales continues to be nails.
-
Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 1h South Carolina DT Tonka Hemingway with a phenomenal double-team run rep in individuals. Anchored both blockers like a champ. Got love after the rep from coaches and teammates.

he's the right kind of receiver for us, should be there in the back of the 2nd

Daniel Jeremiah's Mock Draft 1.0
Captain Morgan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
one thing to remember. Canales came from Tampa Bay. I could see him wanting his own Mike Evans for the next 10 years. There are differences, but a lot of similarities. -
Daniel Jeremiah's Mock Draft 1.0

one problem we had last year was getting the ball in the end zone. Having Tmac should greatly help us in the red zone. It would be fun watching Bryce's accuracy to a guy who can get up over the entire defense. -

don't suppose it would be wrong to post this in the regular forum...after the season that one is all about the draft. But I'll play along. A mod can move it. The draft forum doesn't get the traffic the main one does...the second is a correction of the first post (probably thinking about the WR Higgens https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1882890568281260305 https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1882909783092842731

good camp body who could make the team as a back up, hopefully to someone else not currently on the team.

ESPN: Panthers like LB Jalon Walker
Captain Morgan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
i'm ok with this....he makes a difference that we haven't had for a while. with DB on the line, Jalon at LB and Horn at CB, we have 3 stars to build around. -
New England is the wild card here. They have their qb, so protecting him and getting him a wr will be tempting. If they go with bpa, they might take Abdul or Johnson. we'll have good options either way at 8.
-
oddly enough, another mock from SI released today also has us taking Jalon 8. Carolina Panthers (5–12) Biggest needs: Edge, DL, CB The pick: Jalon Walker, LB, Georgia The Panthers need to accumulate game-wreckers on defense. They finished last in the league in both run defense and points allowed this season, and they were tied for third worst with 32 sacks. Walker, an explosive chess piece who has the speed to run sideline-to-sideline and the quickness to routinely win pass-rushing reps, can elevate Carolina’s defense on multiple levels. He tallied 60 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 2024. https://www.si.com/nfl-draft/2025-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-predictions-cam-ward
