tonight could be a big night for the franchise. Remember last week when we were talking about how tough a stretch this part of our schedule would be? We're riding a 3 game winning streak, Monk has provided an unexpected spark, and LaMelo just won rookie of the month. If this team could somehow beat Philly, and it's potent front court, it would be an announcement to the rest of the league...The Hornets are gelling, there is a ton of young talent, and the team has never been this hungry. A win tonight and the NBA takes notice....the Hornets are for real. We'll see. Frankly I'm just glad to have this level of excitement for the first time since Larry and lonzo were here.

February 2, 2021 – The NBA announced today that Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball has been named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for games played Tuesday, December 22 through Sunday January 31st. Ball is the eighth Hornets rookie to win Rookie of the Month honors and the fourth rookie in franchise history to win Rookie of the Month in the first month it was awarded. During the Hornets 20 games played from Dec. 22 to Jan. 31, Ball helped guide the Hornets to a 9-11 record (.450), tied for the seventh best winning percentage in the Eastern Conference. He ranked third in points (12.2), second in rebounds (5.9), first in assists (6.1) and first in steals (1.5) per game among rookies while ranking tied for 17th in assists and tied for 13th in steals per game in the NBA over that time. Ball totaled 243 points, 118 rebounds and 121 assists in his first 20 games, making him just the seventh player with at least 225 points, 115 rebounds and 115 assists through the player’s first 20 career games.

Trade up with Dolphins seems the most likely at this point
Captain Morgan replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think there is a strong possibility the new regime in Atlanta says we're sticking with Ryan because we've got a lot of talent on the team, it's just been horribly managed. Meaning they could be very likely to trade back and get a slew of picks to stock the team for a run sooner rather than later....and the team they trade with will give up a lot because they want...a quarterback. That's about the worst situation we can be in....Falcons get better, and we don't get a QB. -
let's see what the market will bear. I don't mind the draft picks, but I can't give up that much plus two of our 3 young defensive starters. That much capital would almost cripple any team. But that's a good thing for Houston to open with. I don't think anyone will give them that, and we talking about a top 8 pick this year as part of the equation. So let some time go by, and see how much they'll come down.

Panthers confirmed to be in Stafford discussion
Captain Morgan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is good to hear. Yesterday all the media speculation was on the Rams getting him. -
Hornets needed this win with a tough schedule ahead.

good replacement for Curtis, at a lower round draft pick than Curtis was as a high second.

Deshaun WATSON Officially Requests Trade from Texans
Captain Morgan replied to ncstatekwi's topic in Carolina Panthers
from the aforementioned Barnwell article... 2. Carolina Panthers Panthers send: Eighth and 39th overall picks in 2021, 2022 first-round pick, 2023 first-round pick, QB Teddy Bridgewater Texans send: 2022 third-round pick, 2023 fourth-round pick, QB Deshaun Watson The Panthers probably aren't in position to get the quarterback of their dreams at No. 8, which means they'll either need to trade up a few spots or make a massive deal for Watson. This would be a dramatic move for Matt Rhule and new general manager Scott Fitterer, but Carolina was frustrated with Bridgewater by the end of the season and might be inclined to swap draft capital for a long-term solution at the most important position in sports. The Panthers would send their next three first-round picks and a second-rounder to the Texans, who also would get a year of Bridgewater at $18 million before having to decide whether to move ahead with him in 2022 for $21 million. https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/30783236/17-deshaun-watson-trade-proposals-ranked-least-likely-most-likely-happen-2021-nfl-offseason -
I'm not used to being able to watch NBA games I care about. These wild point swings are frustrating.

well that big lead sure evaporated fast.
-
Hornets had a 30-15 lead with a minute to go in the first, but lead 30-19 after 1. Hornets shooting 43% from the floor, and 36% from 3. Orlando shooting 26% from the floor and 27 % from 3. Playing with energy and charisma again, fun to watch.

Gordon on fire tonight
-
Orlando shot almost 45% from 3 last night. We need to do better than that tonight. Really would love to see the crispy passing and multiple guys hitting from outside like we did in our short winning streak.

some of the guys I'm excited for Rhule to coach this week: DBs Hamsah Nasirildeen and Jacoby Stevens DL Marvin Wilson and Marlon Tuilpulotu LB Paddy Fisher, Monty Rice and Charles Snowden OL (all of them but especially ) Drake Jackson, Trey Smith, Alaric Jackson, Ben Cleveland Deonte Brown, Jack Anderson and Alex Leatherwood QB Kyle Trask RBs Kylin Hill and Elijah Mitchell TE Noah Grey WRs Marquez Stevenson, Shi Smith, Kadarius Toney, Trevon Grimes, and Amari Rodgers. Really wish Matt could coach these guys on the opposite roster. DB Devine Deablo Rodarius Williams DL Levi Onwuzuike LB Baron Browning Tuff Borland Chazz Surratt and Tony Fields OT Dillon Radunz OL Creed Humphrey WR Nico Collins Sage Surratt. I could make a good draft for the Panthers from just those guys.
