The quarterback carousel has broken down
Captain Morgan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
We know teams have called about him, and everyone knows we don't view him as the future. That doesn't mean we're going to take a 7th. If the best QB situation we end up with is Trey Lance, who is very inexperienced, then it would be in our best interest to keep Teddy for a year to help mentor the new guy. Teddy's contract was set up for this situation. I don't think we'll see Teddy traded until we know what our situation is. -

We gotta find some defense somewhere tonight. These guys blew us out not long ago and have the best record in the league for a reason. Will we rise to the challenge?

I'd give him a shot for 2 mill guaranteed and a games played bonus up to 4 mill, but if he gets injured again or has lost his game, then we move on without much of a hit. KK lining up next to DB could be interesting. When teams had to deal with Star, KK was a beast.

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2021/02/deshaun-watson-wasnt-promised-gm-search-input At last check, Watson has yet to communicate with Culley or Caserio. Meanwhile, his personal coach Quincy Avery is passing along notes via social media. “What’s the criteria for a quarterback asking to get traded, then actually getting traded?,” Avery tweeted recently. “Asking for a friend.” Avery’s friend has been heavily linked to the Panthers, who have recently carved out significant cap space. The Dolphins continue to circle around him, too, which means that a blockbuster trade involving Tua Tagovailoa could be on the table. Other potential suitors include the Jets, Broncos, and 49ers, but the Texans continue to say that he’s staying put.

rumor on reddit that Shaq just unfollowed the Panthers as well. -
lucky to get that win, and glad for it. You got to find a way to win when you're playing bad, and the Hornets did tonight. Hornets win. Let's go.

we're not playing well. With Curry out, we should be leading. Looks like the layoff threw off our chemistry. Maybe we can find it in the second half. With all our shooters, someone has to get hot.
-
well Curry didn't start and appears to be not feeling well.

Game tonight...it's the Warriors. Watching Curry is a joy. Would love to see LaMelo have a game to match, but either way, this game will be entertaining.

Updated Cap for the 2021 Panthers
Captain Morgan replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
if we trade Teddy before June 1, we'll get about 13 mill more in cap space. Would be better to trade him after June 1, but that might be too difficult. But desirable if we can pull it off...17.9 mill in cap space for this year). -
This is his make or break year. He's going in healthy with a little experience, but most importantly, if Rhule and his crew can't teach him enough to be relevant, he may not even make year 4. Rhule and crew have thrived on teaching players who have the physical tools but haven't been coached right. I'm pulling for him, at least to be a starting guard if he can't play tackle. We'll see.

Yes. don't hold me to 6 months, but maybe a year. But I could be thinking of another player. The sentiment was he knew there was a shakeup coming and that it was an uncertainty that he didn't want to commit to.
-
after a cursory google search, I can't find a link. Of course I could be wrong, but I don't know why I'd remember it if it never happened. I remember that he was respectful in his answer, that there was uncertainty, and why would he want to be a part of that. Does Tepper coming in fit the timeline? Doesn't matter anyway. He got paid, and we were still in cap hell.
-
I don't have a link, but I'm positive that in the last 6 months or so he was quoted as saying he knew there was going to be a rebuild with front office changes and he didn't want to be in such an uncertain situation. He said it in a very nice way and his feelings are completely understandable.

and I can not lie.

most of us hoped for the 3 year plan, but Matt said it would be a 5 year plan. So here we go.

Charleston WR has virtual meeting with Panthers
Captain Morgan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
why don't you start a thread for all our virtual meetings, or re-name this one. Just a suggestion -
Falcons have 122 million in cap space this year wrapped up in 5 players. That is stunning. Remember, the cap will be somewhere between 180 to 188 mill, and they'll have 122 in just 5 players. Add in D Jones at 12 mill, and that is 134 million in 6 players.

Weatherly and Palardy ALSO being released today!
Captain Morgan replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
looking down the roster there is very little fat left to trim, unless you consider Little, which may be a possibility. Ian as well. Only about 13 guys on the team make more than 2 mill next season. -
so it looks like Burris and Chinn will be our safeties. That's not bad.

if he's a post June 1 cut, we save 3.5 this year and 4.9 next year. He gets 2.6 both those years.
