Darnold cost a lotttt more for the panthers to bring in than baker. I could see a situation where if they are both even and no clear front runner, Rhule picks darnold to try and save face and say that their original assessment was correct. I think this team still has more invested in Sam being a success over baker i also think that baker will win the job, hands down, and there will not have to been anything contemplating after a few days of training camp

I haven’t had the feel of truthfully meaningful football (excluding first few weeks which is ‘meaningful’ to everyone) since before I had kids that understood the thought of being able to finally explain what an important game is to my son seems like a welcome feeling. Beats the hell outta having to find something else to keep them busy all Sunday afternoon..

The draft position of all those qbs really makes you think about the worth of tanking… losing for the future isn’t ever a guarantee

How about his 4th quarter stats (where we were 1-7 in 1 score games)? Something tells me those won’t look quite as nice and that has a direct correlation with why Cleveland has a new quarterback

Robbie/y on I Am Athlete podcast speaking on Sam & Baker

The only way better is for players to make more plays. No one questions dj moore, Brian burns, Jeremy chinn, etc. I know you can’t compare talent but he was paid right before the seasons. When that happens expectations naturally come and he wasn’t even in the ballpark of meeting those expectations. his prior success with darnold probably also had something to do with the excitement thinking he could recreate that -
I to like the panthers. I will root for the panthers to win this year if the panthers win this year, I will like Matt Rhule if the panthers lose this year, I will deal with consequences at that point i will understand that there is no changing our head coach now, and will understand that although I don’t agree, the entire league currently has the same record and at this time last year the bengals were no better than us

Joe Person and The 33rd Team break down the Mayfield trade

In my mind anything less than 10 wins this year and Rhule needs to be fired. No in between. -

Logic makes no sense. If baker is good enough to save Rhules job then the team shows progress and he gets a long term extension. if he’s horrible Rhule gets fired and baker walks next year. that’s the only 2 options here -
I disagree that it’s worse when your team is bad. I find it much harder to get through an off-season when you have expectations for the panthers to win the super bowl next year. Enjoy your summer knowing that you have no reason for fall to come other than to be pleasantly surprised by an overachieving team. If not, we are right back where we started.

Night and day between Panther and Canes home games
Adb6368 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ve been to a few playoff games and I beg to differ. Winning cures all problems -
Sigh. (It hurts when you see it pointed out like that)

In their defense only like 5-6 of those games had a home crowd. The rest were overrun with visiting fans that actually saw hope in their teams future success and thought the investment of a ticket purchase was worth it. -
The one thing that is nagging at me about our QB pick...
Adb6368 replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Counterpoint: we didn’t have a deep ball threat with bridgewater because he literally could not throw the ball further than 15 yards with his noodle arm and glove. Darnold didn’t have a deep ball because he was scared of getting his head taken off before the wife receivers could even get 15 yards down the field. hopefully both of those issues are fixed with our new OL and QB -
It’s important that our head coach for weeks 7-18 supports the quarterback he’s going to be coaching and interviewing with

Patrick mahomes did not play his rookie year
-
So he can become cam Newton and not let past mistake define him or he can become Johnny manziel and never grow up. For a third rounder the risk is probably worth it and I’m not saying he can become the same player as cam, just that he can grow and potentially let his talents define him as opposed to his antics

Can someone post the actual quote? I searched for it and didn’t see anywhere that he said that specifically

Yes I believe a lot about what tepper, Rhule and fitterer has said in the past week is complete and utter BS. There is no reason to come out and say a player currently under contract is useless and a bum, even though they may be. That would be illogical especially when you haven’t finalized another plan. there actions tell the truth, whether that be Stafford or Watson in the past or baker/jimmy g in the future
-
Yea there’s no reason to lie this time of year… Everyone’s got it figured out
-
If we have learned anything over the past few weeks it’s that tepper is willing to walk away from a bad investment..
-
I’d be fine with one of the stud DEs if they fall. I’d be upset but could probably come around to Hamilton since he’s widely regarded as the #1 prospect in this draft regardless of position. if we pick CB i riot.

So @Verge you think Evan Neil will drop? If so, who are the surprise 2-3 in front of us?
