I am settling this now. Take Young because of his football IQ and game tape and do not worry about his size. The GOAT of WRs Steve Smith, played at 197 pounds. Look at the hits he took across the middle and didn’t flinch. Young is smart and knows where the pressure is coming and can get the ball out quick. The best under pressure in college football the past two seasons. He knows how to evade and avoid big hits. Stroud is 6’3 and 218 on a good day. He is not a bulky QB and when comparing his frame to Young there is not much difference.

Heard on PFT this morning the NFL committee is voting on having a 3rd QB as an emergency backup on the roster for game days. Keeping MC would be a no brainer.
-
Young’s ProDay he did miss on the deep balls but he over threw the receiver which far better than under throwing. Stroud is so natural letting the ball flick off his wrist but the receivers were slowing down a bit when catching the deep balls. Those would not be completions in the NFL. Regardless, is it a tough call between Young and Stroud.
-
Does he have a disclosed injury or just trying to add muscle mass to get his weight up. Something does seem off.

Made by Appalachian Mountain Brewery in Boone. I am sure you can get it at the local Carolina grocery chains. Food Lion has it for sure.

Why Bryce young will be the pick and we should be excited
gakonline replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am not really concerned about Young’s size like everyone else. He played with and against grown ass men of the SEC. He had no problems with batted balls and no Injury issues. He plays smart, fast and easily navigates the pocket. I believe Young is the best QB in the draft. If the front office thinks Stroud is the best QB, I don’t think his size will be the reason why he would be picked over Young. -
I like it. He knows the Saints offense. He will be a good mentor.

Not sure if anyone has seen this but here are the combine highlights for TEs. Darnell looks pretty damn good to me. 4.65 40, looked the strongest of the bunch and has great hands. Great one handed grab at the end of the video. His stock will rise because of his athleticism. Looks to be a great red zone threat. FYI… Mayer was the slowest of the bunch. https://www.panthers.com/video/nfl-combine-2023-tight-end-highlights

Absolutely did not. I thought it would be at least three first.

Todd McShay seems to really like Anthony Richardson

If AR is the only top four QB at 9 then keep all picks and draft Stetson Bennett late. Much better QB. Reminds me of Brees. Smart and can make the throws. Plays big in big games. -
Wilks was a great coach but… would have never pulled off the coaching staff we have now.
-
The Panthers are going to have to bring in a vet regardless. Get Carr and draft a QB. You never know who is going to fall in the draft. We can draft BPA in the first whoever that may be be.

This is starting to get nasty with coach wilks.
gakonline replied to ncguy2184's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hate to see it going this way with Wilks. Even though Tepper has always his eyes on an offensive guru, if Wilks would have led us to the playoffs he would have job. The Tampa game hurt but I think the Pittsburgh & Cincinnati game did even more damage. We looked totally unprepared for both of those games. -
Do you trust Reich to find us (and develop) a franchise QB?
gakonline replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we get Stroud at 9. Young be pick #2 & another team will fall in love with Levi’s. This would be an ideal scenario saving our draft capital with a potential move back to late first. round. -
I would absolutely make the trade in Madden if Joe was 7” tall, 400 lbs & abilities were 99 across the board.
-
Could anything make you quit the team?
gakonline replied to Brooklyn 3.0's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Tepper moved the team to another city. Else I will keep pulling for the Panthers & continue to watch every game. At some point the team will get right again. Hopefully as soon as next year by winning the NFC South. -
So which QB do we think will be available at #9?
gakonline replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Reminds me of Drew Brees. I would grab him in the late rounds if he is available. Could be a steal. He outplayed every quarterback he played against this year. -
Beating the Saints cost us 1 draft slot after all
gakonline replied to Peon Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Both team’s embarrassed themselves. Horrible game but a win is a win. -
Watching Zach Wilson play reminds me EXACTLY of Corral
gakonline replied to DMathematics's topic in Carolina Panthers
The good news, Corral has maybe only played two quarters of preseason football with trash 4th stringers and had very limited reps in practice. Comparing Wilson verse Corral means Wilson has been a bust so far. Let’s judge Corral after the next preseason if he gets a fair shot to compete. -
All the fans that want to tank, you guys are all in on Stroud?
gakonline replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
I for one do not believe in tanking & here is proof in the pudding. Players only get better by competing & the Panthers have a lot of young core players on both sides of the ball. Check the link below if you think tanking will get you anywhere. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2018/draft.htm -
I agree. We are going to have to win out to win the division. I believe the game against the Bucs will decide it.
-
If Darnold is healthy, you have to throw him to the wolves. We have seen what a healthy Baker has done. Time to move on.
-
If season ended today which QB would you take.
gakonline replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
Obviously you do have to have a good arm but I think it is more along the lines as a mental aspect to be a great QB. Young has the mental aspect.
