Why Gettleman is a GM... and you aren't.
Toker Smurf replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
"I've seen plenty of teams win the Super Bowl in March; the idea is to win the Super Bowl in February. That's the goal." - Cam El Sweet, now I can be a GM too. -
Makes me wonder, would Gettleman not have drafted Cam, if he'd been our GM at the time. Obviously, that would have been a mistake.

They were just discussing the Raiders on NFLN and how they have to spend cash to meet the threshold. So far, they haven't gotten any of the big names, causing the NFLN guys to speculate they may have to overpay some mid tier guys. Now Hardy isn't a mid tier guy but Casserly suggested they should go after him. If they give him a big contract with lots of guaranteed $ that could net us a high comp pick next year (I think 3rd is the highest). It obviously also depends on who we bring in but at this point but it doesn't look like we are bringing in anyone big. An extra 3rd for Getts would be sweet.

Brandon Browner released. I won't even say it.

Sam Bradford + picks traded to Philly for Nick Foles

Could still be positioning to get Mariota. -
Nope, he can have the creamy stuff all day but I'm not giving up the crunchy.

He's not terrible but makes me think we will not be signing anymore WRs in free agency (after Ginn). Still think we draft one.

Saints sign Mark Ingram to 4 yr / $ 16 million contract
Toker Smurf replied to gettlemanjack's topic in Carolina Panthers
We are talking about this from a cap standpoint though. They've already restructured Colston and Byrd. From what I've read, Bree's isn't willing to restructure. They have to come up with roughly $18 million by Tuesday, which still wouldn't allow signing any FA's. Then another $5 million around draft time. -
Saints sign Mark Ingram to 4 yr / $ 16 million contract
Toker Smurf replied to gettlemanjack's topic in Carolina Panthers
According to Spotrac they are $15.8 million over before resigning Ingram, add $5.2 m for their rookies -
Obviously we will not know until he lines up on Sunday. For now, I think we have to take solace, in the fact that Matsko knows Oher and Bell well, so they made an informed decision and chose Oher.

Panthers met with Texas A&M CB Deshazor Everett

Dude, if we could find another Bene in the 5th. -
Tampa attempting to trade OT Anthony Collins
Toker Smurf replied to TheSpecial1's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do want. Bring him and Oher in, draft a tackle early to mid and with Remmers we're improved top to bottom. -
Yes, please. WR, CB and OT (not necessarily in that order) in rounds 4 - 6 and we'll be aces.

Panthers NFL Draft Prospect - Justin Coleman
Toker Smurf replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Usually somebody posts a thread listing all prospects the Panthers have spoken to. Is that something the team releases later? I know there are a lot of pro days and incoming visits to go but I'd be interested in seeing who we've met with to date.- 34 replies

Where do you guys get this 'film' on all these players?
-
He'll still get more $ than we're willing to pay, if he gets cut.
-
Just saw on NFL AM that the Panthers are saying DWill hasn't been cut. Assuming he will be, even if its not yet official. Just seems a bit strange.

D Will says Panthers didn't reach out to him when his mother died
Toker Smurf replied to QCkilla's topic in Carolina Panthers
Could be one of those situations where everyone assumed someone else would take care of it (sending flowers or whatever). Doesn't mean they weren't thinking of him. My parents forgot my birthday once (after I was grown). It bothered me for a while but I later realized that sometimes, life just happens. -
1. No. QB slightly better due to experience, Oline worse, WRs & TE wash, RBs worse due to age. D-line worse, LBs wash, secondary slightly better. 2. Yes. Experience.Willks, new roles. 3. Yes. Salary cap is improving. I think talent will be better after this season than 2 years ago.

If you think an NFL player (especially a pretty well known one) never gets fringe benefits because of who he is, that's probably naive. The fact that she would Tweet about it, increases the likelihood, in my opinion, that she would do it in the first place because of who he is. Doesn't mean that is the case but I'd be willing to place a wager it is the case. All that said, that really has nothing to do with the point of my post. My point is, why are so many referring to her as a slut and ***** but I didn't see those kind of derogatory comments about Edelman (not that I read ever one but most).

4 Things Greg Hardy Must Do to Remain a Panther
Toker Smurf replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Three out of four maybe but he's not giving money back. Of course, the CBA probably doesn't allow it, so he could offer, knowing it can't happen. Best thing would be to make a large donation to charity, namely a domestic violence charity.
