    I think you should be careful about what the media is pumping and about red herrings because I think the Panthers have finally figured out how to conduct some smokescreens. I still think Wilks or Reich could be the coach but I don’t think they’re done interviewing either

    I don’t think they are considering Payton anymore. The comp to the saints is too big a pill for most teams to swallow let alone a division rival. I think the interview was more feeling out and conversation than an actual interview

    Same source that told me Matt Ryan was furious at the falcons before the Watson speculation and was demanding a trade long before it was reported. And the one that told me Michael Oher has permanent brain damage. But like I said he’s not always right

    From everything I’ve read publicly, it’s Reich. From what I heard from my sometimes inside team source (and yes I really have one but it’s not as plugged in as it used to be) this might not be over today and there’s another dark horse interviewing.

    Ryans played for Houston so it makes sense. Denver’s players fit his scheme and I could see him being a fit there too. Nothing insidious. Needs to be a fit for both parties. Something Tepper is hopefully learning.

    Where did Rapaport say Moore was out? Just because he went home doesn’t mean he’s not getting the job either. Might just mean the team is going to take more time to make a decision. I will say that every hiring process I’ve ever been a part of, albeit in much different industries, if you’re the guy, they will extend and offer or at least let you know fairly quickly.

    I really don’t care who the players prefer since most of them won’t be here in 3 years let alone next year. Any good coach will get all the players behind them and playing hard.

    Unless he is fired in Dallas can he do that? He’s still under contract with the Cowboys right? He can’t take a lateral position?

    On paper Steichen seems like the next big time head coaching prospect but like many other factors he might just not fit with the people who are in charge of the Panthers right now. Working for Tepper is a tough sell for a coach who might have a lot better options if he is patient.

    So I'd assume the second round would involve more people maybe in the scouting and personnel departments. Maybe Pat Stewart.

    2nd round interviews usually involve a different set of people. Maybe this is where they meet with Fitterer and Morgan and co? Not sure who is involved in the first round of interviews aside from Tepper and his wife.
