To those who wanted us to hire Sean Payton...
hepcat replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Usually talk like this comes back to bite the people who say it. He’s just laying out bulletin board motivational material for his opponents. All things equal I was ok with it since he was a massive upgrade over the previous fool of a head coach but hiring him also cost multiple high draft assets to a divisional rival which should have been a non starter from the get go -

Austin is getting too crazy. Crime is up, property values are up, cost of living is insane. Savannah is a good. choice too. If my folks weren't in Wilmington, it would have been another city we looked at.
-
Property value was a big motivator for me too. My house in Austin appraised at 700k and the house we got in Wilmington is 535k with 1000 more sq ft and a massive yard.

I can see it for sure. TX is unbearable this time of year. Highs have been in the 105+ range for a month straight with no rain and no end in sight.

I have a friend who swears that Michigan is going to pop off in the next 20 years

It’s the hill country or going down to the golf coast is as close as it gets

Been living in Austin for almost 13 years now. It was a great run in my 20’s especially when I was single, but it’s just getting too hot and too expensive for a place with no beach or mountains. And with kiddos I wanted to move closer to family. So I got a remote job last year with the intent to move back to NC. Had a long debate with my wife about either Asheville or Wilmington. I went to college at UNCA so I still know a lot of people there so that was my first choice. But my folks live in Wilmington, and my wife grew up on the beach and wanted to be near the coast so, Wilmington won. We put an offer on a house on Thursday and it was accepted. Great school district and half an acre lot. House needs some updating but it’s a really nice place. So here we go! Move back to NC starting soon. Terrified and excited all at the same time.

Only if they didn’t plan on re-signing him. It would have been a different scenario on a team with more good young players coming up on contract extensions but that’s actually not the case for the Panthers right now. I was fully in favor of making that trade especially given the team was total ass at the time, but if they’re going to keep him, make sure you keep him.

That might allow Cam to get in but I think he’s deserving either way. Best red zone rushing QB of all time and it might not be challenged for a long time if ever given football’s continued player safety effort.

There was a rumor Cam had degenerative arthritis in his throwing shoulder which was the real reason he sat out the 2019 season. That shoulder injury in 2016 really f*cked him up. I don’t fault the decision to move on from Cam, he was never the same player again, but replacing him with an overpaid noodle arm like Bridgewater was just a bad look.

Just a reminder of the misery the Panthers fanbase had to go through having a gaslighting narcissist as a head coach.

Aside from getting boo'ed at a Hornets game, what happened to his family? From what I can recall, all the fan vitriol was directed squarely at him, and rightly so.

I needed a new recliner fast and it was a decent deal for an “all leather” recliner. And to their credit the sitting parts of the chair appear to be leather. The guts of the chair were beyond trash. Cheap doesn’t begin to describe it. I basically had to rebuild the entire chair.

ESPN lays off employees, with more cuts to come

God damn this comment hit me hard -
Main lesson learned here is never go to the retailer for customer service and always go to the manufacturer first. I bought a leather recliner from Wayfair last year that started falling apart after 3 months. The arms started getting lose and then a piece of the wooden frame in the back beneath the seat snapped in half and was spewing out bits of particle board all over the floor every time I sat in it. I reached out to Wayfair who said it was beyond the return window for the item and told me to pound sand. I posted pictures of the issues with the chair on Twitter and tagged Wayfair and also filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. Within a day Wayfair gave me the name and contact of the manufacturer to redeem any possible warranty. I contacted the manufacturer who told me that they do not work directly with customers and forwarded me back to Wayfair to redeem the warranty. I sent the correspondence with the manufacturer back to Wayfair and to the Better Business Bureau. I received a call from Wayfair the next day and they offered to allow me to return the chair (shipped back at my own expense) or accept a credit back for the item. At this point I had already repaired the chair in my garage with a piece of pressure treated pine I had laying around after building a garden bed and reinforced all the crappy joints with wood glue and longer screws. The chair is actually decent now. So after some back and forth I accepted a 20% credit back from what I paid. It took 3 months to get to that point. It is a true test of perseverance to be able to withstand the customer service process when you've been screwed over but it's a rewarding one when it works out in your favor.

Are you buying into the media's narrative that we are third tier
hepcat replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Media reps are lazy and don’t keep up with changes and imagine that teams change and go up and down -
Here’s another swing wingman who faded hard in the NCAA tournament. Typical hornets.

Compare the NFL experience on Rhule’s staff to the current staff, and it’s not hard to get excited even just by the prospect of having some talented NFL minds in the building. I still can’t for the life of me understand what Tepper was thinking by giving Rhule the keys to the franchise. We’re lucky he didn’t f*ck things up more than he did.
