Not bringing in competition for Darnold or Slye was a huge mistake
hepcat replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Darnold has done nothing to earn that treatment. He’s getting it because the Panthers have no other options in case Darnold fails so they’re playing it safe. I get that, but it wouldn’t be that way if they had a plan B. If this was Fields vs Darnold they’d both be getting playing time. -

Do you disagree? Passing on Justin Fields or even Mac Jones when he fell into their laps when you’ve got a QB who has been one of the worst starting QBs in the NFL over the last 3 seasons as your new starter is a move that could get people fired. They didn’t even sign a veteran QB with some starting experience or hell keep Bridgewater to be a backup. They put all their eggs in the Sam Darnold basket which makes no sense to me based on his history as a starter. -

And that’s the whole point of creating this post. Not bringing in competition for Darnold is a huge mistake. Coddling him like he’s already an established starter isn’t a good idea. Not having a backup plan in case he fails will get people fired (hopefully) -

They needed film on running into a brick wall on 4th and goal? -

Red Zone play calling is an issue again. Brady should have called 4 pass plays to test Darnold at the goal line. They’re coddling his ass way too much.- 140 replies

and they’d give less of a sh*t about the line if they had a backup plan at QB. They are scared as f*ck to start PJ or Grier -

Exactly! How is this Darnold not playing more??? How is there not a completion for the QB position? Darnold has done NOTHING to deserve the treatment he is getting. This isn’t some established veteran that doesn’t need reps. The Ravens not playing Lamar Jackson, I get it. Dude is an MVP caliber QB. Darnold has stunk it up his first 3 seasons. That is not a recipe for a winning team. -

Amen bro. How can you just crown this guy the starter? And not push him with someone else. -
I have been a fan of this team for way too long. So I’ve seen them fail way too many times. I know how this ends. If you don’t have a backup plan for the most inconsistent players at high profile positions like QB and Kicker, you’re going to have a bad time. Now the season is about to start and Joey Slye is doing what he always does - miss easy FGs. Remember in 2019 when he missed a 19yd FG that would have won the game? How is this guy still around??? And Darnold is BARELY PLAYING? WTF. The guy hasn’t proven anything for this team. This isn’t post MVP season Cam Newton we’re talking about. It’s doofy Sam Darnold and his ghosts. He reps to be ready for the season. We don’t even know if he will be ready for the season. All we know is Joe Brady wasn’t confident enough to put the ball in his hands on 4th and goal. And that says a lot to me. The Panthers passed on Justin Fields, didn’t sign a veteran QB like Andy Dalton, or hell even keep Teddy Bridgewater. Darnold has no completion. And he’s not the type of QB to just hand over the keys to the team to. He failed in that role already and you need to hedge your bets on a guy like that. WTF is this team thinking? No completion for the most inconsistent guys on the team? I’m getting tired of this sh*t.

Maybe Moton doesn’t want to

Good because he f*cking sucks

People blamed Teddy for the loss to Minnesota last year but if you go back and watch it, Slye had a FG blocked and he missed the potential game winner because he was spooked because of the block earlier in the game.

This season might have 2010 vibes with a pretty good defense neutered by an inept offense. Only difference was that team had John Kasay who was money.
-
Panthers brass made two glaringly awful decisions this offseason. 1) Did not bring in competition for Sam Darnold 2) Did not bring in competition for Joey Slye two of the most inconsistent players on the team that needed to be challenged

Wtf is the team still doing with a trash kicker?

New season, same problems. Dumb play calling on the goal line

Maybe that's why he's being held out. Rhule in a stand off with him to get the vax

PREDICTIONS - How will Sam Darnold do against the Ravens
hepcat replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Darnold needs to put together at least 1 TD drive to make me feel like he could turn it around next season. -
It’s an interesting thought but I doubt Rodgers picks the Panthers. Stafford didn’t want to come here.
-
Yea it’s literally a game longer! LOL But for real the Panthers are still a bottom tier roster. You never know though, football is weird. Maybe this team clicks.
-
If he’s just gonna be an injury prone backup cut his ass and find a young hungry LB that was cut from another team
-
I’d say it’s close to accurate but no chance is pretty harsh. Things could break right for the Panthers and make a surprise playoff run. But it’s extremely unlikely this season.

I’m buying FIFA 22 mainly because Austin FC will be in it
