I was surprised when I looked back and saw Rhule was only the assistant OL coach on the Giants. He’s never even been a full position coach in the NFL. Unreal this guy is the head coach of an NFL team.

One quote really resonated with me: I found this quote to be extremely pertinent to Matt Rhule and the current Panthers team. Two seasons in as head coach and he's fired numerous staff members, including an offensive coordinator in-season, and the team has been terrible. Matt Rhule had one season of NFL experience before he was hired, as assistant offensive line coach on the 2012 Giants. As Mike Shanahan said, you need to know all the positions on the field, not only so YOU can coach, but so you can tell if your staff are good coaches. It is clear Matt Rhule has no idea how to build an NFL caliber staff. I don't think he knows enough about all the positions on the field to do what Shanahan said - show what assistants might be a good coach and who might not. How could he? He coached in college for most of his career. And the NFL game is a few steps up from what positions require in college.... So Rhule hired a bunch of his long-time friends and colleagues to fill his staff, along with some other random coaches of varying experience, and the results have been terrible. A head coach on a winning NFL team should be developing coordinators who are ready to become NFL coaches. All the great NFL teams have seen this happen. Hell, even Ron Rivera's top DC Sean McDermott is one of the best head coaches in the NFL. I don't see that happening on Matt Rhule's staff. It seems more like he needs an experienced former NFL head coach on the staff to save him. It's just depressing to think about the future of the Panthers being undermined by an unqualified coach like Matt Rhule. He's an average college head coach at best and has no business being a head coach in the NFL.

I agree. Burns is a huge liability in the run game. He’s going to be an extremely explosive situational pass rusher on a different team. Burns is going to have a long career in the NFL if he’s managed correctly. The Panthers don’t have the personnel to support him.

Rhule might be even more stubborn than Rivera about young players.

Blackburn was actually a pretty good coach. Yea special teams had some gaffes but they were probably the most consistent unit on the team until Gonzalez got hurt. He had to deal with an injury to Charlton too and went out they got a guy who was better. Could we have a flashier special teams unit in the return game? Oh absolutely. But I didn’t see many bogus fumbles on punt returns or kickoffs and the kicking game really game together. I agree with some of the coaching changes but this one might not have been a good idea.

Look y’all, I think it’s time we all came together for a cold dose of reality. Our worst fears have appeared to come true and Matt Rhule is coming back for a third season. I’m not happy about it at all. But at this point, I think it’s time we just move on. We as fans have zero control over what David Tepper does with the Panthers. I know it sucks, and I’m as mad as anyone here. Our beloved Panthers have been turned into an embarrassing laughing stock. The play in the field was atrocious and the words that come out of the coaches mouth range from embarrassing to just downright pathetic. It’s bleak times to be a Panthers fan. But what can we do about it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We can vent our frustrations on the Huddle and Twitter, exhaust our spouses and friends bitching about the Panthers all day and night. But it won’t win the team any more games next year, and it won’t change the direction the team is heading. The season is over. It’s not worth dwelling on this crap show anymore. Spend time with your family or doing your favorite hobby. David Tepper, Matt Rhule, and the rest of this clown show that has become the Carolina Panthers will still be there next year to disappoint us. I can definitely wait to see that.

Honestly I think it's ridiculous to talk about the head coach limiting the career advancement of the front office employees as a reason to fire Rhule. Suleiman and Morgan accepted their jobs with Rhule already as head coach, and if they don't want to work for the Panthers, they can quit. I really couldn't care less about Rhule's poor performance limiting the career advancement of the people in the front office and I doubt Tepper does either. There are enough reasons to fire Rhule already. But Tepper has decided to keep Rhule and my strong assumption is because of money and maybe moreso because he's embarrassed. Tepper is used to being the big dick in then room and right now he looks like a moron. He's doubling down and holding onto his bad investment in hopes it rebounds. Because if Rhule magically turns it around, Tepper looks like a genius and he can thumb his nose at the fans and say "I told you so" If (and probably when) Rhule fails, Tepper can say he was patient with him but it's not working out. And he won't have to compete against a quarter of the NFL to find the next guy.

Who? Dan Morgan and Suleman? I really couldn't care less about their careers and time they don't get back. They share responsibility for the mess we are in.

What older players? The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the NFL. There's almost no players on this roster nearing the end of their careers. Stephon Gilmore doesn't count, he was a one year rental and I doubt he is back. I get it sucks as a fan though. I feel the same way.

I think at this point it's safe to say David Tepper doesn't give a f*ck about what the fans think. We haven't heard a peep out of him in months and that guy loves to hear himself talk. You have to think he's embarrassed and he's not someone who is used to dealing with that. His silence says it all to me.

I think he's smart enough to do a cost benefit analysis. He would be competing against a quarter of the NFL for a new head coach right now. Firing Matt Rhule right now would cost him tens of millions and the Panthers have a poorly built roster. Tepper saves millions rolling with Rhule for one more season and could end up with the #1 overall draft pick next season and a more attractive head coaching destination. It's not farfetched to think that's the reason plain and simple. Rhule sucks but Tepper might be willing to swallow another losing season to save money now and compete for a better head coach next offseason. There's good head coaching candidates every year.

Part of the reason he's not firing Rhule could be for this reason. The Panthers are near the bottom in terms of desirable head coaching destinations.

The fact that Tepper and his PR team even allowed this bumbling moron to go on this radio show makes me think Tepper is still undecided whether he's going to fire him. He's letting Rhule go out and make a fool of himself to further justify the move. We haven't heard a single thing from Tepper yet and that guy isn't shy about running his mouth.

Another bad firing. Culley had that team competitive with a rookie QB and a garbage roster that was gutted by the previous regime. Totally nuts to fire a guy like that. There's tons of bad decisions happening across the NFL. Sad to say the Panthers not firing Matt Rhule is another one.

I was never against trading for Darnold. He was a young QB on a bad team and it was worth the gamble. Everything else they did is what I have an issue with. Picking up his 5th year $19m option before he played a down with the team, not bringing in a competent veteran backup or rookie to compete with him, not properly investing in the OL to protect him. So yea, trading for Darnold itself wasn't a bad move. They just did nothing else to support that move.

The problem is that plenty of fans from opposing teams are more than willing to give him their hard earned money to watch their favorite team kick the ever living snot out of the sorry ass Panthers
