Joe Brady sighting. I guess Buffalo needs to keep the pipeline going.

I’ve seen that play before. Classic Cam to Olsen play call. Dorsey calling Panthers plays.

He didn't look at the whole schedule. It's a rough road this year.

It's what a fanbase looks like after 4 straight losing seasons featuring miserable long losing streaks. The team has been mismanaged at almost every turn since Tepper bought the team. Every year there is massive turnover on the coaching staff and a new starting QB. There are legitimate questions if the owner's involvement in the football operations of the team is doing more harm than good.

Thanks for compiling the stats. I'd really love to see what the stats look like after you remove the first 3 games. The Jets, Saints w/o coaches, and Texans, were dominating defensive performances that could have skewed the stats. In most of the games the team lost, the defense gave up over 100 rushing yards. But in the first three games, the run defense had not been figured out yet. The Cowboys did that, and it was never the same after that.

Ugh I mean….read below. But sure it’s an alt of mine

The candidates they interviewed were: Mike McCarthy, Josh McDaniels, Eric Bieniemy, and Kevin Stefanski. Who else was available at that time? Well a lot of people, but this is who they interviewed. To be honest I think any of them would have been better than Rhule. All of them had significant NFL experience at the time and could have put together an NFL caliber staff. Rhule's biggest drawback was his lack of NFL experience and connections. The 2020 Panthers went into the season with two coordinators who had never called plays at the NFL level, including an OC who had never called plays whatsoever. No wonder it was a failure.

Cleveland's run preferences vs our defense's strengths and weaknesses
hepcat replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed. All the good stats the defense has last season are very misleading because when you zoom out it wasn’t at the level the overall numbers represent. That said, a bad and turnover prone offense did them no favors. -
I won’t even get into how terrible refereeing is in almost every sport. But I’m seeing the MLS explode in popularity and even David Tepper knows it. Football is old and dated. Aside from players dealing with horrendous long lasting brain injuries, the broadcast model is trash. I hate sitting through 80% commercials during a football game. Without the red zone channel and the poor performance of the Panthers year after year I don’t even think I’d watch the NFL anymore. MLS games are wildly better to watch on TV and in person. Only ONE commercial break at halftime.

Cleveland's run preferences vs our defense's strengths and weaknesses

Panthers gave up 100+ rushing yards in most games they lost last season so that’s a lot. Their rush defense statistics were wildly thrown off by the first 3 games of the season. The defense wasn’t that good. -
Who cares what the players’s children think? Retiring the number isn’t for them. It’s for the player.

Which matchup are you most looking forward to this Sunday

I’m ready to see Matt Rhule vs Old Country Buffet after a blowout loss. -
Disclaimer - I would genuinely love to be wrong about all of this. I’ll be first in line to eat my crow if the Panthers magically morph into a playoff contender this season! —- While I am hoping for the best outcome this season, I am expecting the worst. I have a rational brain and can’t escape the sting of cold hard facts. The evidence that Matt Rhule is a fraud who swindled a naive new NFL owner making his first head coaching hire is pretty substantial. That evidence compounds itself every season Rhule remains head coach of the Panthers. What I’m getting at is, it’s pretty likely we’re in for another losing season. The schedule is much harder than in 2021 and I can’t see Rhule surviving another miserable year. Will Tepper show any ounce of humility and admit he made a mistake hiring Rhule? Rhule was wildly unqualified for the role of head coach of an NFL team. He never beat a ranked team at Baylor and lacked the NFL connections to build a proper NFL coaching staff. As evidenced by the high turnover on the coaching staff year after year. 2022’s coaching staff is a another group of misfit coaches from the college and NFL ranks. Unless Tepper wants to see PSL sales plummet into the abyss and all the fancy “fan experiences” he’s trying to bilk out of the fans go unattended, Matt Rhule will have to go. A seasoned NFL advisor will need to be hired to clean up the mess. And Panthers fans will be yet again left hoping for better days.

Numbers only need to be retired until that player is dead then no one cares or remembers them anymore

Weather looks concerning for home opener.

Way too early to take the weather report seriously -
More are starting to believe in the Panthers

The team is definitely the most talented it has been since maybe 2018. I do credit Fitterer for using creative methods to put talent on the roster. Aside from the play at QB and the run defense, my biggest concern, as it has been every year under Rhule, is the coaching staff. Rhule’s staffs have been routinely overmatched by experienced NFL coaches. Many opposing coaches have lambasted them for doing “college sh*t”. This season it’s still a patchwork collection of misfit coaches from around the NFL and college ranks. It’s just become painfully obvious this regime is just throwing sh*t at the wall and hoping something sticks. Hopefully they got lucky and this group clicks. -
Does anyone else think we could win the South?
hepcat replied to Stuart Smith's topic in Carolina Panthers
The season is definitely going south -
I agree. Tepper tried to murder the ghost of Sam Mills by discontinuing the Keep Pounding chant in the stadium, later saying they wanted it to be an “organic” chant but let’s be real how is there going to be an organic chant amongst 70k people in a stadium unless they’re saying “Fire Rhule”

It's interesting the Jaguars traded Shenault so late in training camp. He was their #2 receiver in yards and receptions last season. He did have 8 drops though and when you put on the tape, he struggles to get separation on the outside. I guess they just straight up decided Christian Kirk is taking his snaps and booted him out of town? Gotta give the big money guy his snaps I guess. Maybe their loss is our gain?
