The expectations also came from Steve Wilks going 6-6 with Matt Rhule’s roster. Wilks made this team look competent again for a little while. We thought now that we have this “all star” coaching staff and the #1 overall draft pick, we would improve. Instead, all of a sudden we suck ass again. And to top it all off we don’t have a 1st round pick next season. I was against hiring Wilks just because of the mistakes he made in the Tampa game after building a lead, but if I had know what a disaster this season I would have said otherwise. Hiring him, signing Darnold to a 1 year deal, trading Burns, and going after a QB in 2024’s potentially legendary QB class was the move

Does anyone need any more convincing this franchise is cursed

He’s probably getting it from all sides for the poor start on offense. Tepper probably fed up with how much the fans hate him, his fancy new coaching staff looks remedial, so he’s laying into Reich. In turn Reich’s staff is eating turds for breakfast and then crapping it all the way down to the ball boy. They need a win, bad. If they don’t win in the next 2-3 games I think the whole team might implode.

I was going to say maybe it’s time to get a new helmet and point it at Mecca

Marty Hurney, Dave Gettleman, Scott Fitterer
hepcat replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Best is Hurney, 2nd is Gettleman, 3rd is Fitterer. Hurney drafted most of the panthers legends of the last 20 years. -
Well if Bryce is getting hurt because he has to hold the ball and take hits because no one is getting open then yea it makes sense

Keep this stat and let’s compare it to the stats after the season. Without improvement I will be concerned. Honestly they should be trying to trade for a WR.
-
Burns is the only one on that list that truly made sense to trade. The Rams made a stupid offer last season to get him.
-
Burns should have been traded last season, yet another Scott Fitterer failures. Meanwhile one of Fitterer’s major successes Frankie Luvu has outperformed his contract and has grown into a menacing player. It’s obvious which one to keep and which one to try to get assets in return.

What we need to see from Bryce and the offensive philosophy
hepcat replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Every throw Bryce made beyond around 15-20 yards towards the sideline and hash marks was wildly overthrown or just inaccurate. -
Some team is going to lay an egg and the team will back into a couple wins. Injuries might pile up and really kill the team though. If they are the worst team in the NFL and the #1 overall pick goes to Chicago I definitely think at least Fitterer should be fired but maybe Reich too. What a catastrophe that would be.

Give me a reason to be excited about the future of this team

For not being a very good offensive play caller I can’t say I dislike Frank Reich as a person. In his press conference he took responsibility for the loss, didn’t throw any players under the bus, and said it’ll be better soon. It’s like Ron Rivera in that I thought he wasn’t a good coach in many ways but I liked him as a person. Matt Rhule was just such a hatable low character person that it made the fans irrationally angry. I’m just looking for anything to be positive about right now
-
At least Deion recognizes where his place is. He could be an all time great college head coach. Matt Rhule didn’t understand that.
-
Eh not really. Last season the team that traded for him was getting 1.5 seasons out of him before a new contract was needed. Now it’s only roughly 3/4 a season. That time was valuable.

And don’t forget the Panthers weren’t winning many games in Cam’s rookie season but it got them Luke Kuechly

I was saying the same thing just yesterday myself.

Draft Ewers and Worthy = profit

I’m so f*cking sick of everyone saying “Bryce needs playmakers” #1, he’s the first overall pick in the draft. He’s supposed to BE the playmaker. Cam Newton was also a #1 overall pick, a player WORTHY of that selection because he was a true playmaker. You take a QB that needs “playmakers” to be successful in the 2nd round. #2, these skill players aren’t nobodies. Thielen has been an extremely productive WR in the NFL. Chark is productive when healthy and to my knowledge didn’t even have a catch tonight. Miles Sanders has been productive in some very good offenses and has his preferred position coach with him. Hayden Hurst was a first round pick and has been a moderately productive TE in the NFL. #3, this coaching staff was supposed to be “all star” level and should be getting more out of the offense. Instead it looks worse than Ben McAdoo calling plays with a paper bag on his head. Maybe there are too many cooks in the kitchen to be successful. Maybe the Panthers are just cursed. Either way if another person says “Bryce Young needs playmakers” you’re just not right.
